Follow my format!

Offense: I will rate them a B+, I say this because they have a great team which can get them into the playoffs. First off they have a great QB in Garrard who had 18 TDs and only 3 INTs. Which if he does about the same he will be a great QB. Even with those stats with Garrard, that still isn't their key position. In matter of fact they finished 2 in the run last year, and they still have MJD and Taylor. But they do need some star recievers and some experienced star lineman. Which is why I brought the grade down some.

Defense: I will rate them a B+, I say this because they have some great players, but they also have some holes. They have a great LB core, but they need some more DBs to rank from 15 ranked against the pass to alot higher!

Offseason: I will say that they had a bad offseason so I will rank it a D-. They did get D. Harvey, but they did lose some of their star players. So it wasn't that good.

2008 record:11-5
Rank in AFC South:1st
Playoff contention/team: YES/ and YES
O MVP: MJD
D MVP:R. Mathis
Team MVP: MJD
SB Team: No but they will go into about the second round of the playoffs

U give the Jaguars a B+ on offense? I disagree. I think the Jags QB is awesome & the season he had last yr was stellar. However, who the fack r their WRs, & who is worried about getting beat deep on a bomb by the Jags who live & die on 5-8 yard passes? Their new signee Jerry Porter has already gotten hurt. They added Troy Williamson who is best known 4 dropping passes.I give the Jaguars a B on offense only because their running game is solid.

Another B+ on defense? Dude, r u like a closet Jag fan or what?
The Jags lost Marcus Stroud. Both Jag LBs Clint Ingram and Daryl Smith saw their production DECREASE from '06 to '07. Their secondary? Sammy Knight and Brian Williams? Puhleeezzzzzeeeeee

Offseason a D-? Are you kidding me? They got an aggressive defensive coordinator in the offseason, Greg Williams, to replace the guy who had no game plan against Randy Moss in the playoffs. They got two WRs in Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson, albeit they need to stay healthy and perform, they drafted two DEs in Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves to shore up a line that wasnt able to pressure Tom Brady in the playoffs. You just cant discount Reggie Williams(WR) injury as no big deal.

Ok they have teo of the best running backs in the league, and they have a QB who had 18 TD and onlt 3 INT, which is pretty good in my books. And they do haev ok recievers.

Defense: Yea they did lose Stoud, but what did he do last year? And they have one of the best LB core there is!

They didn't do much during the offseason to help their team out, and like you said "The Jags lost Marcus Stroud"

i did that in less then 3 minutes. It sucks doesn't it

"Ok they have teo of the best running backs in the league"

That is what u said. This is what I said: "I give the Jaguars a B on offense only because their running game is solid." Next.

"and they have a QB who had 18 TD and onlt 3 INT, which is pretty good in my books."

This is what u said. This is what I said: "I think the Jags QB is awesome & the season he had last yr was stellar." Do u even read my arguments?

"And they do haev ok recievers."

That is what u said. Lets listen 2 the experts @: http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2008/07/16/jacksonville-jaguars-2008-preview-repo rt/

WR: Jerry Porter** Few realize he???s never had 1,000 yards in a season.

WR: Troy Williamson** If he couldn???t catch in Minnesota, why would he be able to catch here?

So if these 2 guys r ur starters, there is no way a B+ is justified here. The B grade I gave them was perfect.

"Defense: Yea they did lose Stoud, but what did he do last year? And they have one of the best LB core there is!"

This is ur entire argument justifying ur B+ grade & refuting my argument? Stoud= part of a defense that was 11th best against the run. Stoud was imposing presence w/ John Hend.

Forfeited Turn

In the interest of fairness, I will not argue further here and let the voters decide based on our second arguments.

Philly dude you are way too generous on these grades.

August 21, 2008  08:36 PM ET

Good luck Eric.

August 21, 2008  08:40 PM ET

Good luck Cassidy

August 21, 2008  08:55 PM ET

D- offseason? No way.

August 21, 2008  09:02 PM ET

They signed Jerry Porter to upgrade their WR corps and Troy Williamson has been a HUGE surprise.

August 21, 2008  09:09 PM ET

I give the Jags C+ at VERY best for offense.

August 21, 2008  09:10 PM ET

I would give them a B or B-.

August 21, 2008  09:11 PM ET

I will wait for Cass to post to go into reasoning.

August 21, 2008  09:14 PM ET

Ok, Im curious to see what you think about this.^

August 21, 2008  09:41 PM ET

Williamson has so much speed and was a former 7th overall pick, he will make a big difference on there offense along with porter, I could go as high as an A, since David is a great game manager and doesnt make many bad decisions. There backs are top notch, best combi in he league

On defense there a solid A

Offseason - B, they lost nothing and got a few pieces for the future

August 21, 2008  09:48 PM ET

They traded Stroud. He must really not like that move.

August 21, 2008  09:59 PM ET

Until Troy Williamson does ANYTHING in the regular season, I'm not sold at all.

August 21, 2008  10:02 PM ET

Good luck Roy.

August 21, 2008  10:12 PM ET

you gotta be nuts. jags got an A+ at offence

they got jerry porter now
gerrard made those recievers look like all-stars
and nasty defence still
MJD and fred taylor people...comon....!

August 21, 2008  10:24 PM ET

You wanna TD on that?^

August 21, 2008  11:29 PM ET

Deep threat Jerry Porter is now with Jags. Fred Taylor seems to be like a fine wine. He's getting better with age. He's the starter and he has an offseason trainer working with him (a this poiint I guess I should say had). Their D got better with Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves. Good TD! I'm looking forward to the rebutle.

August 22, 2008  01:22 AM ET

At 11-5 the Jags can win the division? I highly doubt that.

August 22, 2008  10:43 AM ET

Why is this throwdown interesting?..... what's all the interest in the feckking Jaguars from someone from Suckremento and Philly?..... Roy, wouldn't it be more appropriate for you to latch on to a Raider topic, a Sac Kings topic or even tell us how the Arco arena is the most awesome scarecrow in any corn field ever......
