Every year we get 365 days. Which day is the best on average for the average sports fan who likes every sport?

I say its opening Sunday in da NFL.

U get every team playing w/o byes & bad records except 4 the novelty Thursday night game which is the equivalent 2 premature ejaculation.

Nobody knows what to expect on week 1 in da NFL=Irresistable!

In MLB u can just look @ the starting 5 pitchers on each team & virtually know who is going 2 suck. Same in the NBA & NHL.

Superbowl Sunday only involves 2 teams out of 30. No way was the Giants-Patriots more intriguing to the entire country than week 1 when everyone in the nation has a perfect record & only 16 games to work with.

In the MLB there is 162 long arse seasonal games which means opening day, etc. is meaningless until playoffs.

Opening day in the NBA is whatever, the playoffs are 7 games series instead of one & done like the NFL. Next.

NHL has outstanding playoffs, but no ONE day on the NHL calendar is better than OPENING SUNDAY in da NFL.

The World Series is 7 games, even a sweep is 4 games. I am looking for ONE day on the calendar, not a series.

NCAAB/NCAAF championship games are amateurs no matter how you want to look at it thru love of college lenses.

Give me opening day on Sunday NFL=Heaven.

False statement. Every team does not play on opening sunday in the NFL .

The Giants and Skins are playing on a Thursday
Vikings, Packers, Raiders, and Broncos play on Monday
Everyone else plays on Sunday

Im going with a sleeper pick here.

Trade Deadline in the MLB

1-It is the same date EVERY year
2- It is the same date for EVERY team

It basically decides the fate of your team. You get to see new faces and old ones go. You get to see your team improve for a playoff run or bulk up on prospects for the future.

When you are a baseball fan (like most of the WORLD is), you find yourself always checking the trade rumors to see what your team might get on July 31st.

A team's entire playoff fate could be decided on this one date. This one day could make or break your playoff chances.

Just look at this past deadline

Manny Ramirez
Ken Griffey Jr
Ivan Rodriguez

are all future HoFers and were traded

Jason Bay
Zavier Nady
Kyle Farnsworth

are all pretty good players that exchanged hands all in a tactical plan by the team's GM to improve the team now or in the future.

"U get every team playing w/o byes & bad records except 4 the novelty Thursday night game which is the equivalent 2 premature ejaculation."

This was my statement that covers the Thurs night games. If u think NFL fans of teams that play on Mon night week 1 arent drooling to c how the competition is going to play on the day b4, then you r a teenager.

Trade deadline in the MLB? Are u serious? Only a few teams @ best actually act on the trade deadline. The Dodgers did getting Manny Ramirez. Considering they r still 2 games back in the NL West its no guarantee they will even mean playoffs. The D-Backs got Adam Dunn. Once again, Dunn was shjt for the Reds unless u love strikeouts so they shipped him west for good reason. The Brewers got CC Sabathia, which has worked out beyond money, but how many people in AMERICA were waiting on pins and needles on July 31st for that deal to go down vs. America in early September when a MAJORITY of NFL teams kick off?

A MAJORITY of MLB teams make ZERO deals at the trade deadline because A)Happy with team B) Out of the race.

Every team in NFL who starts 0-0 has a 16 game NFL dream. What other sport can say this on opening day? None.

"In MLB u can just look @ the starting 5 pitchers on each team & virtually know who is going 2 suck. Same in the NBA & NHL."

There isnt pitchers in the NBA and NHL. And how is this true? Better yet, if it is true for these sports, how isnt it true for the NFL? Look at the Rockies from last year, they didnt have a World Series caliber team. How bout the Indians from this year. They sucked but alot picked them as a playoff contender. Or how bout the Twins and Sox, many picked them to finish in last in the Central.

You do know that 2 games is a very slim division league. That can be tied in 2 DAYS.

Adam Dunn leads the NL in HRs and is 1 behind the MLB lead.

"A MAJORITY of MLB teams make ZERO deals at the trade deadline because A)Happy with team B) Out of the race. "

You can always, always, always, ALWAYS improve your team. Your team is never perfect.

This shows how much you really know about baseball. The Pirates were out of the race, the Indians were out of the race, the Tigers were out of the race. They still all made deals to improve the team for a run next year. Look at the Orioles. They traded Bedard and Tejada for the future. In MLB you plan for the future.

"There isnt pitchers in the NBA and NHL."

Really, cuz I coulda swore that guy w/ the hockey mask threw a mean curveball.

Dude, if u think the MLB trade deadline is the BEST day of the sports year, u r dizzy. I told u the moves that were made in my 2nd argument on the trade deadline & NONE of them were as compelling as when the NFL kicks off its 1st week in early September.

"You do know that 2 games is a very slim division league. That can be tied in 2 DAYS."

A lead in a division can be tied in 2 days WITHOUT having picked up a player at the trading deadline. Why you think this date is more important than the NBA or NFL drafts boggles my mind, let alone thinking its more important than 2 two weeks from now when your Ravens get their arses handed to them in week 1.

"Adam Dunn leads the NL in HRs and is 1 behind the MLB lead."

Wow, sure am glad I stayed up till 12am 2 make sure the D-Backs got Adam Dunn before the T-deadline. Now I can afford 2 sleep in till Mon. on kickoff NFL Sunday. NOT!

"You can always, always, always, ALWAYS improve your team. Your team is never perfect."

Keep saying always while I keep saying whatever!

Could atleast once make an argument where you spell all the words properly? Please?

Week 1 in 2007
Giants Lost
49ers Won

Giants won the Super Bowl. 49ers won 5 games. The opening game showed the 9ers winning and the Giants losing. That sure did set the pace for the rest of the year!

2007- Boston Trades for Gagne
2004- Boston Trades for Cabrera and Mientkiewicz
2003- Florida Trades for Conine and Urbina
2002- LA Trades for Alex Ochoa and Sal Fasano
2000- Yanks Trade for Glenallen Hill

Those team all won the World Series that year.

One thing that i have on your date is that mine is always the same day. Its like Christmas. Its always July 31st. Opening Sunday in the NFL is not the same day every day. Your title seems to suggest that the day must be the same day every 365 days.

Good Luck

August 21, 2008  10:01 PM ET

This could very well be the STUPIDEST subject for a TD I have ever seen. I'm voting right just 'cause that guy didn't think of it.

August 21, 2008  10:03 PM ET

Damn I wanted this one. It's any Sunday during the World Series. This TD says "best day for average sports fan who likes every sport." Sunday in October you get World Series game, full slate of NFL games, and early season NBA games on the same day.

August 21, 2008  10:03 PM ET

Stalker much?

whatever..

Good Luck

Correct me if I am wrong, but who is Cass stalking you for looking at your profile and seeing your name?

August 21, 2008  10:03 PM ET

who should be how*

August 21, 2008  10:04 PM ET

Actually, its a great topic. Worded poorly though. Simply ask for the best day for sports. I vote left. No chance the right could convince me that trade deadline day is the best.

August 21, 2008  10:05 PM ET

Me either. Opening day for the NFL is the best.

August 21, 2008  10:06 PM ET

What CCC said. That's what I was thinking when I saw this.

Any chance the right could convince you that Cass is smuggling a hard salami? Just curious.

August 21, 2008  10:09 PM ET

Wow......how about April 26th????

August 21, 2008  10:12 PM ET

The day after the MLB All-Star game.

August 21, 2008  10:12 PM ET

I miss the trade deadline all the time for something stupid

I would NEVER miss first Sunday of the year. If the Browns dont have a home game, I have a huge party to celebrate.

August 21, 2008  10:12 PM ET

For those of you who don't know or have no sense of humor, it is the only day of the year that no games happen.
