Minnesota Vikings
Cleveland Browns
Kansas City Chiefs
Jacksonville Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks

Haha, I haven't done one of these for a little bit...

Alright, so here are the ones that I agree with:

Vikings
Browns
Chiefs

But I disagree with the Seahawks and the Jaguars. Instead of them, I'll go with the:

New Orleans Saints
New York Jets

Since you didn't argue, I won't either. But I will address one of the "key" acquisitions for the Jaguars, and say that Troy WIlliamson does NOT MEAN IMPROVEMENT. That's all :)

Okay, glad we agree on a few...

Your picks:
Saints: Least changed team in the NFL. They maintained the bulk of their free agents. Still bad D!

Jets: Besides Favre, go ahead and name the "great" changes!

My picks:

Seahawks: Signed Julius Jones an T.J. Duckett for the 1 - 2 punch. Signed John Carlson for TE. Also signed former Tojan Laurance Jackson to help out the D. Have Burleson, Engram and Branch in the WR spots. Two good kickers, Brandon Couto and Olindo Mare.

Jaguars: Signed Jerry Porter! Porter will be a big play threat. Signed Chauncey Washington, which is a hard charging back. Good future ahead of him with the Jags. The Jags focused on their D with Derrick Harvey, which is an exciting speed rusher!!! Quentin Groves will be an awesome outside linebacker. Garrard's looking good/healthy but if he gets dinged up, Cleo Lemon may step in. He showed some good QB skills in Miami.

Please tell me how one man Brett Favre will make the difference for the Jets. Let's not forget who they lost (i.e. Vilma, etc.). Please also explain how a team like the Saints with the least amount of changes ranks in your thought process.

Least changed team in the NFL?

They needed to shore up their defense. So they brought in All-Pro LB Jonathan Vilma. They brought in Randall Gay and Lance Schulters for the secondary. They drafted Sedrick Ellis. They traded for All-Pro TE Jeremy Shockey. Not enough changes? I'd say so.

Well, Favre will make a difference. Why? He's one of the better QB's in the league. He's a future Hall of Famer. He's a HUGE upgrade over Pennington/Clemens. He will make the passing game much better, and help Coles and Cotchery. Which will in turn, help the running game.

They brought in All-Pro OL Alan Faneca. They brought in Calvin Pace to help the LB core. They traded for Kris Jenkins to help on the line. Tony Richardson came from the Vikings, and I'll be the first to say that he's a very good FB. They helped the running game, passing game, and defense.

Jones and Duckett are not a very good 1-2 punch. That's AD and Taylor, Jones-Drew and Taylor, Parker and Mendenhall, etc. But two guys who don't start making a good 1-2 punch? I don't think so. Engram, Branch and Burleson? NONE of them came this offseason. Two K's don't very much. Jackson isn't even starting. Carlson's not starting, either.

The Saints still have a weak D. That's what killed them last year and it will do the same this year. Whether you know it or not, there still the NFL team with the "least" amount of changes.

Where did the Jets "rank" prior to Favre? Please tell me? You're mentioning names that will have almost no impact whatsoever. How long will Brett the Jet last. He'll most likely throw more interceptions than TDs.
My picks:
They're thinking about the future. Yea, Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew will still tear it up but the Jags also picked up Washington to add to the tandem and replace someone if need be. Jerry Porter is a huge pick-up! Jags strenghened their D, that was their biggest weakness. It was not only one player like Vilma for the Saints, oh sorry two, I forgot Sedrick Ellis.

With Seattle Jones and Duckett will share time with Holmgen stating that either back will get more than 25 carries per game. Jones can also block (big time)! Seattle too, sealed up all their weak spots. The Seattle Sleeper is John Carlson (TE). Shaun Alexander now has more weapons to throw to. As I said, look for Laurance Jackson. He's goign to make a huge impact for Seattle. We'll see!

How did the have the least changes? They brought in Jonathan Vilma. They brought in Jeremy Shockey. They drafted Sedrcick Ellis. They brought in Randalll Gay. They brought in Lance Schulters. Are 5 legitimate players not enough for you?

Who cares WHERE THEY RANKED? Where did the Chiefs rank? Where do they now? Brett Favre is an improvement, which is what this is about. Last year he threw 28 TD's and 15 INT's. So how is he "most likely" going to throw more INT's than TD's? How does that logic work? And the ALSO brought in Faneca, Pace, Jenkins, Richardon, they drafted Dustin Keller, etc.

Washington is not a huge improvement. He's the THIRD STRING RB. They traded All-Pro DT Marcus Stroud. How is trading a very good player a huge improvement?

How did they seal their weak spots? Neither Duckett nor Jones is a number one. Shaun Alexander isn't on the team, so will he be throwing passes? "Laurance Jackson" is not even starting. John Carlson isn't starting. So how are they suddenly going to make huge improvements?

Damn you 0x, get'er done.

August 23, 2008  02:17 PM ET

I can NOT wait to see the reason for Seattle....

August 23, 2008  02:23 PM ET

Wait for the reasoning... I'm sure I'll open some eyes!

August 23, 2008  02:40 PM ET

Alright, I'm kinda busy so I might not be able to get to this right away when you argue. Just a head's up...

August 23, 2008  02:42 PM ET

How would you know what Troy Williamson can do on a football field 0x?

I joke I joke.

I didn't realize catching a football was that hard.

Wait for the reasoning... I'm sure I'll open some eyes!

I will keep it short, as my 0x is no moron, but HAHAHAHAHAHA. Have you been under a rock?

I knew what your reasons for the Hawks were gonna be, just think that they are HILARIOUS.

August 23, 2008  02:58 PM ET

The Jets got way more then just Favre

Calvin Pace is the kind of linebacker that weve been missing for years, he had almost 100 tackles and 7 sacks last year so hes a big addition.

Jenkins is the first nose tackle that ever fit our system, he plugs up the middle and opens lanes for our Linebackers to run though and stop the run and pass

FAVRE IS A FUTURE HALL OF FAMER

Fanaca is the veteran offensive lineman that we havent had since we traded Kendell to Washington, he provides veteran leadership, teaches our younger lineman, and is a pro bowler year in year out

The Jets havent had a good full back for many years now which is one of the reasons why our running game has never been as great as it should be. As far as im concernedTony is a hall of famer. His stats arent great but thats because he never got the ball enough. In 2000 he had 147 carries for almost 700 yards averaging almost five yards a carry. If he would have been used more his stats would have been phenomenal. Hall Of Fame worthy for that matter, but he hasent seen many carries since his best asset is being a run blocker.

Last year we had the 19th ranked rushing attack in the NFL, but we couldnt find the endzone as much as we needed to since we had no big back who could pound his way into the endzone and creat holes for our backs to run though. Last year Tony did just what we needed having a great year for the Vikings and being the unsel hero of the team. Without him AP and Taylor wouldnt have as many rushing yards and tds.

Tony will be a big difference maker this year for the Jets and his veteran leadership will help out our whole team

August 23, 2008  03:00 PM ET

BTW the guy replacing Vilma had over 120 tackles last year.......he goes by the name of.....DAVID HARRIS

August 23, 2008  03:03 PM ET

Big Cat you made a big mistake saying the Jets only got Favre. The Fanaca pickup was by far their best move. Putting that veteran between their other two young linemen won't just improve them this year but Brick and Nick will become better players because of it.

August 23, 2008  03:20 PM ET

Okay, the Jets have changed. I'm a Jet fan. I'm excited! I still don't think that they are in the top five of making the best improvements. Also, that's one team. What about the Saints???

August 23, 2008  03:23 PM ET

Jets signed Alan Faneca. As a guy who has watched most of the Steelers games for the last 8 or 9 years, message to Jets fans, get excited. Hes one of the best out there.

August 23, 2008  03:25 PM ET

Curious Cat, you said Vilma was a big loss, which would make him a big gain to somebody else, right?

So the question is.....Who got Vilma?

August 23, 2008  03:40 PM ET

That's one player. Of course people will stick on that even though the subject matter is the teams that have improved the most, which I determined and listed as the biggest changes and advantages of those changes. I can and will list more in my next rebbutle. In the meantime Hoops, keep doing your Internet searches. Look at he overall changes of each and every team I listed.

Let's also think about long-term changes and areas of improvement!

August 23, 2008  03:45 PM ET

The Saints got Vilma

August 23, 2008  03:48 PM ET

and...

August 23, 2008  03:52 PM ET

I have no need for interent searches, it is all in my head, the brain power to defeat you on this topic is at a level of zero.

Julius Jones and TJ Duckett, two guys that NOBODY wanted on their damn team. That is an improvement, hmmm....

August 23, 2008  03:53 PM ET

and Vilma is more than the Seahawks added, they added nothing but GARBAGE plain and simple.

August 23, 2008  03:56 PM ET

So getting Vilma, Randall Gay, Jeremy Shockey, Sedrick Ellis, and Bobby McCray is the "Least changed team in the NFL"? Sounds to me like they made additions key to them making it back to the playoffs.

Don't forget about a heathy Deuce and return of last years #1 pick Robert Meachem who is lighting up preseason.

August 23, 2008  03:57 PM ET

The Seahawks return all 11 starters on defense (including 4 pro bowlers) and added Lawernce Jackson. Nickb23..don't worry about what we do. NFC West title #5...coming soon.
