My pick is Hogan vs the Undertaker and Survivor Series '91

Undertaker (heel) won the strap from Hulk hogan and shocked all the little hulkamaniacs.

The Original Elimanation Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship in Survivor Series 2002.

Participants:

Shawn Michaels
Booker T
Rob Van Dam
Kane
Chris Jericho
HHH

The background in this match was that Raw GM Eric Bischoff came up with the idea for a Elimination Chamber match. A variation of a Elimination Battle Royal and War Games, the WCW event were teams faced each other in an enclosed cage, entering at various intervals.

The match featured many athletic moves and every wrestler in the ring(with the exception of HHH) had moves they could perform from great heights. It set the standard for Elimination Chamber matches and no other Elimination Chamber match, nor Survivor Series main event has lived up to the standard set by the six men in the ring that night in 2002.

That's great but Hogan and the Undertaker fighting against each other is LEGENDARY. ARguably the top 2 in the promotion EVER. Hogan was still in his prime and Undertaker was just getting his feet wet in WWF after being in Nwa/WCW. Undertaker's name was mean mark calloway. You speak of the BACKGROUND for this FIGHT. Undertaker was undefeated and took on Hogan who was pretty much unstoppable at that point. Taker got the win from the Hulkster when Ric Flair brought in a chair for the Undertaker to tombstone him on. This main event had TO BE huge because Survivor SEries was USUALLY just elimination matches. ACtually Taker vs HOgan was the first one on one fight in Survivor Series history. It was such a good fight that they did it again 2 days later for a PPV. These two ppv had the shortesst span between them in WWF ppv history. The Card the following Tuesday was called "Tuesady in Texas". Undertaker and Hogan fought at "Tuesday in Texas" with a controversial finish that sent the heavyweight title to the winner of Royal Rumble. Hogan did win at "Tuesday in Texas" but i think it was a DQ. dunno? Too far back. lol

HOgan vs Taker was a classic and your pic was too but the legends win

Just finished watching the match you nominated on youtube, a bit past my time, but it is a good pick.

Let's get one thing clear before I start:

Hulk Hogan could not do the amazing things that make a match memorable, he could not take the bumps that makes and Undertaker match great. This match isn't even in the top 5 matches featuring the Undertaker, and might have a hard time cracking the top 10.

Also the fact that it was won by outside interference always kills it for me. You sit through a match for 20 minutes and it ends with something cheap like interference. You hardly see the Hulkster lose a match without the opponent cheating during his first run in the then WWF.

Here are the links to both matches:

I see how the significance of the first ever singles match at Survivor Series is special, but the first ever Elimination Chamber match is equally as special also it featured the HBK-HHH rivalry at the time and is one of the most popular fueds of the decade(00-10)

I bet if you ask Undertaker personally he will DEFINETLY say it was.

I couldn't find the match but CHECK THIS OUT. it's GREAT

HOGAN and TAKER are more monumental to sports entertainment than Triple H, Kane, Booker T, Chris Jerico, and Rob Van Dame. Yes, the structure was very cool for the elimination chamber but the Hogan vs Taker fight went on when WRESTLING WAS still HUGE. Hogan vs Undertaker was big because Taker came in and took out the largest pythons in the UNIVERSE. lol

I get really annoyed when you use the monumental thing.

Also I personally question your saying that HHH and HBK are not as monumental to wrestling than Taker and Hogan.

HHH and HBK helped the WWF rise to popularity during the Attitude era as the core members of DX and have won the WWF/WWE Championship at least 20 times combined.

Wrestling may have been more popular then, but in 2002 it was still an extremely popular form of ENTERTAINMENT and that Survivor Series had great matches and still this one sticks out the most.

It should not be who the main event has per se, but how the main attractions perform, the Hogan-Taker match does not live up to the great mathces he has had with the likes of Batista, Mankind, and Edge.

The Elimination Chamber Match is a staple of the WWE's "season" and this is the benchmark of what a good gimmick match is supposed to be.
