I say yes they should.
Everyone who watched the Super Bowl knows that pass rushing is the biggest part of Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolas defense.
Bringing in Strahan would give the pass rush a big boost now that Osi went down with an injury. NY loves Michael and Strahan would most likely take the offer, and would only have to work on getting back in game shape.
With training camp past, Strahan doesnt have to go through all the extra work, he just gets to play. I think Strahan can still play and if would be very beneficial for the Giants to bring him back.
Disagree????
TD!

As much as I love my Giants and as much as I love the Stray-train, I say they should not bring him back.
Look at the Brett Favre saga and how badly that turned out, I know this would be smoother but bringing him back would be a distraction to everyone around the NY Giants organization.
Also I think Strahan is done. He has the deal with FOX and I think he wanted to retire at the top of his game, which he did after winning the Super Bowl last year(thanks Mike by the way)
I think that they should play a young player on the end and develop for the future and hope that everything ends up fine. It just doesn't seem like bring Strahan back would work or end up to be benificial for both sides

Im not saying thatr Strahan will take the offer. All I am asking is if the Giants should make Micheal an offer to come back. In other words, tell him he would be welcomed back this year and make him an offer.
If he declines the offer, then oh well.
This is no way like the Brett Favre situation. Brett forced his way back and then made a public declaration that the Packers wanted to get rid of him.
All the Giants would be doing is making a cordial offer for him to come play for the Giants again in 2008. If Strahan says no, thats ok and the Giants move on with the season.
But to not ask an impact player like Strahan to come back in a time of need is absolutely ridiculous.
thebasketballguru said 08/25, 01:38 PM
I totally disagree the whole point that just asking him would be a good idea.
It automatically becomes public that the offer is on the table, putting Strahan in a bad position, the media will be hounding him and whatever decision he makes will be criticized in the end.
Move back Mathias Kiwanuka to defensive end, blitz the linebackers more if you need a pass rush and see if Manning has more of his magic, don't bring back a player who has already retired and put him in a lose-lose situation.
travis31 said 08/25, 09:57 PM
Lose-lose situation? He could be the reason the Giants make the playoffs or not.
The media wont criticize Strahan if he takes the offer, they will praise him for possibly saving the Giants season. And FOX has already said they will support him if he comes back for another year so that point is moot.
This situation is no where nears Favres, besides, all Strahan has to do is accept or decline the offer and this whole thing will be over.

I really want to do this, but I'm not feeling incredibly well so I may wait until tomorrow morning to reply.

Actually, I'll let someone else take this challenge. I'm sure you would rather have someone argue quicker. I don't think they would ever ask Strahan to come out of retirement to play one more year, and I don't think he would if they asked. His words were "I'm done"... he won his championship.

They'll probably move Mathias Kiwanuka back to defensive end.

I don't believe this is like the Favre situation. It's closer to the WNBA team that Laimbeer coaches asking Nancy Lieberman to help them out of a crisis situation (although she was only on a 10 day contract and only played one game).
It's unusual for a franchise to try to coax a player out of retirement this way.

As a cowboys fan, I would be worried if Strahan came back. Their D Line was BY FAR the most important key to their success last year. Pats scored 14 points while Brady was sacked 5 times. They have to bring Strahan back.

Good move Giants and I hope Strahan comes back! Their D line was impressive and doesn't get the props they deserve. Strahan knows the ropes and it would probably take him less time to get acclimated than a new player or even someone off the bench. This is different from the Brett Farve train wreck because the Giants are asking Strahan back, not vice versa. I mean his agent can't get in touch with him because he is on vacation! Strahan wasn't thinking about the Giants, lol.
