*only* WWF/WWE ppv's
I'll come at a different approach

1. Royal Rumble (the only reason it's more exciting is 30 wrestlers over the top rope. This Royal Rumble w/ entry makes for a highly contested fight. Wars start off people throwing eatch other out . I remember when Bret Hart and Lex Luger supposedly hit the ground at the same time and were co Winners. The lead to Wrestle Mania is always epic. Tyson came in at Royal Rumble on his angle for WM, Lawrence Taylor as well.
in order:
Here are the Royal Rumble Winners
Jim Duggan a.k.a Hacksaw
Big John Studd r.i.p
Hulk Hogan two years in a row
Ric Flair "the nature boy"
Yokozuna "Bonzai Drop"
co winners Brett and Lex Luger
Shawn Michaels two years in a row
and then Stonecold twice in a row
My 2nd favorite ppv is WRESTLEMANIA
My 3rd is Summer Slam
My 4th and final pick is Survivor Series

1. Gotta go WRESTLEMANIA!!

-- how can you say the Salad is better than the Roast Beast?

2. The ROYAL RUMBLE

3. Survivor Series

4. Summer Slam

Two different angles i like this. Wrestle Mania is the obvious but the 30 man battle ro YAL is only once a year as well. Royal Rumble has always had controversly. I'd admit that there are a good bit of WM's that beat Royal Rumble but Royal Rumble ANSWERS the question. Who is going to be fighting for the HEAVYWEIGHT crown at WM in a over the top battle royal of 30 superstars. This past year John Cena were the last two and John Cena was not supposed to be back from torn muscle in his arm. Cena came out 30th and shocked MSG.

The other winners of Royal Rumble in a prestigious GROUP
Brock Lesnar
Undertaker
Stone cold again
Rey Misterio
the Rock
Vince McMahon him self
(note this wasn't in order)

NC, you say Survivor Series is better than Summer Slam?! No Way!

Summer Slam was the MAIN CARD of the SUMMER.
There have been legendary fights:
Bret Hart vs the British Bulldog in England
The Undertaker defeated the Under taker
Owen Hart vs Bret Hart in a STEEL CAGE
Lex Luger vs Yokozuna
Shawn Michaels vs Vader
Shawn Michaels vs HULK HOGAN
Steve Austin vs the Undertaker
Brock Lesnar vs the Rock

Royal Rumble was different and i said from a "different approach "

But here is the thing

9 times out of 10 the Rumble winner is kind of obvious- I mean when is the last time that the Rumble winner was NEW? Last year? you knew it was one of the two- Rey? WE ALL KNEW IT the last "shocking" Winner was Vinnie Mac himself!!

So even though its a pre-determined Sport- the most interesting thing is who gets the "kane/Deisel" push of putting the most out / lasting the longest

now in WM- that is where ALL the story lines END- not begin.

now SS vs SLam

How can you claim Slam is better than series?

Think back to the OLD days

Honky Tonk Man running from the Ring with Savage, Jake and Tito waiting to kick his rear

the Conquistadors lasting past almost everyone

Bundy, Andre and One Man Gang vs Bam Bam and Hogan?

10 tag teams going at it at once-

and your Boy- the UNDERTAKER

started at Survivor Series

and who can forget the gobbledygooker!!

Who can forget Macho Man getting married to Miss Elizabeth at Survivor Series?

Who can forget Zeus and Macho Man vs Brutus the Barber and Hulk Hogan?

Randy Orton being the youngest champ EVER at 24 at Summerslam.

Shawn Micahels vs Razor Ramon Ladder Match 2

Survivor Series I'm sorry is not BETTER. If anything is predetermined like you said the RUMBLE Is it's Survivor Series.

Summer Slam edges out Survivor Series

Ultimate Warrior vs Ultimate Warrior anyone?

Summer Slam has GREAT singles matches. Always a Summer Blockbuster.

The First bulk of the matches were all 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 or even at times a 10 on 10 elimination matchup! where you had all the current fueds mixed together.

and then in 1991 - we have our FIRST title match

The Undertaker VS Hulk Hogan

-- I will pause for you to change your shorts

all done? Ok

This match ended Hulk's run with the belt - PLUS made Flair seem very dangerous and made Undertaker (who came OUT at Survivor Series) a MAIN EVENT player that HE STILL holds to this day.

and that lead to the BEST Royal Rumble of All-Time by the way.

Sadly the tradional Series matches started to decline- but the next year we got

Bret Hart VS Shawn Michaels - 26 minutes of glory there for the TITLE
(oh and a little match like Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior VS Razor Ramon and Ric Flair)

You know if you needed that.

Next we get The Hart Family vs Shawn Michals and the Knights- where Owen/Bret Starts

Next: The Undertaker VS Yokozuna casket match WITH CHUCK F'N NORRIS

has Chuck been in SummerSlam??

Point- Series

Slam is simply a mega card- but the elimination matches of the Series make it number 3

Are those Throwdown statistics accurate?

Retired from what? Or did you mean RETARDED? We all make spelling mistakes I guess.

August 25, 2008  07:59 PM ET

controversly

Oh god, controversy

This past year John Cena were the last two and John Cena was not supposed to be back from torn muscle in his arm. Cena came out 30th and shocked MSG.

JOHN CENA and BATISTA were the last two. CORRECTION

"CCC, already gave a vote to NC. He says he is voting everytime i make one of these."

Yep.

Not that it matters. You TDing against David is like Joe Louis fighting a one legged, 120lb high school kid, with attention deficit disorder.

August 25, 2008  09:01 PM ET

how can you not puut Wrestlemania as number 1?

August 25, 2008  09:02 PM ET

and number 5 would have to be a close battle between No Way Out, Great American Bash and Unforgiven

August 25, 2008  09:08 PM ET

Should people who know absolutely nothing about professional wrestling (example: not ranking wrestlemania at number 1) be forced to retire from wrestling Throwdowns forever?

August 25, 2008  09:30 PM ET

Come on. I'm talking from a wrestling fan's perspective.Just because WM has all the hype doesn't mean it's the VERY best. Whateveer

August 26, 2008  07:04 AM ET

"I'm talking from a wrestling fan's perspective."

Ah...NOW it makes sense. You mean from the perspective of someone so freakin' obsessed that they are actually DUMB ENOUGH to pay 40 bucks to watch something they can get for free on TBS, TNT, or any number of other cable channels. Bet you buy the WWF and WWE DVD box set DVD's too...Poster of Hulk Hogan hanging over your bed?

I'd tell you how to get PPV stuff for free on the internet , but people like you DESERVE to be separated from their money. Vince McMahon would be a ditch digger if it weren't for, well, ditch diggers like you who gleefully hand him money. You are like a REAL man with a fist full of dollar bills in the largest strip club in the world when it comes to oiled up sweaty men in tights pretending to fight each other. Whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

August 26, 2008  07:10 AM ET

A little harsh, CCC. Probably much deserved due to the increased number of Professional Wrestling throwdowns lately, but still harsh.

Royal Rumble is a far superior video game than WrestleMania, but the main event of each isn't comparable. 'Course, I have fond memories in college of hitting up BW3s in North Fargo, getting ripped watching the end of The Rock and the beginning of Lesnar in the PPV each month.

It's the experience, Cs. Believe me, I ripped on my buddies relentlessly when I was forced to my room to watch Monday Night Football because they wanted to watch Raw. There's a certain charm to WWE, it's stupid, it's corny, but that's what makes it great. In all fairness, too, they really are incredible athletes, and some of the things they do, if you're able to remove the schmaltz, glitz and glamor, is really enjoyable to watch.

When I was about 12 I asked my father to get a PPV WWF event. I believe Hulk and the Warrior were going at it. Now my father had been supportive in the past, even took me to a Hulk vs. King Kong Bundy live event. Also featured the British Bulldogs, those Bee guys, Iron Sheik fighting that dude that dressed like a woman. This time when I asked he told me it was time for me to stop watching make believe garbage, he said it was worse than still believing in Santa Clause. He bought me the next Tyson fight and told me to watch something real for now on. This ranks as one of the best things he ever did for me.

With that said, no I don't think these should be on the site, its like arguing Days of Our Lives but we don't have to click on them either.
