Continuing on with my Top 10's..

Today's topic...

NFL Quarterbacks to Wide Receiver Tandoms

1. Tom Brady - Randy Moss : New England Patriots
2. Tony Romo - Terrell Owens : Dallas Cowboys
3. Peyton Manning - Reggie Wayne : Indianapolis Colts
4. Carson Palmer - T.J Houshmandzadeh : Cinncinati Bengals
5. Drew Brees - Marques Colston : New Orleans Saints
6. Derek Anderson - Braylon Edwards : Cleveland Browns
7. Carson Palmer - Chad Johnson : Cinncinati Bengals
8. Peyton Manning - Marvin Harrison : Indianapolis Colts
9. Marc Bulgar - Torry Holt : St. Louis Rams
10. Matt Schaub - Andre Johnson : Houston Texans

NOT TO ARGUE BUT...

Honorable Mention: Jay Cutlar - Brandon Marshall (Denver Broncos), Eli Manning - Plaxico Burress (New York Giants), Jake Delhomme - Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers), Kurt Warner - Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals), Philip Rivers - Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers)

Just a few changes...

1. Same
2. Same
3. Manning- Harrison (arguably the best tandem of all-time... a drop off due to one injury that looks to have healed? Don't kill them for that!)
4. Bulger- Holt
5. Manning- Wayne
6. Palmer- Chad Johnson
7. Brees- Colston
8. Palmer- Houshmandzadeh
9. Manning- Burress
10. Cutler- Marshall

You GOTTA get rid of Schaub to Johnson. Seriously? That lethal duo has produced all of 32 catches for for 535 yards and 5 TDs. Oh man, I'm terrified!

Replace them with Cutler- Marshall, which has had 116 completions, for over 1,600 yards and 8 TDs.

Also, replace Andersen-Edwards with Manning- Burress, a combo which has netted 209 passes for 3,227 yards and 29 TDs.

You placed way too much emphasis on one hit wonders. I know this isn't whole career, but still, Manning has arguably been the best QB in the NFL the last 4-5 years, and Harrison it's best receiver in that span. Yet one hitters Andersen-Edwards top 'em? No way!

Also, Bulger to Holt has been one of the best combos in the NFL. Ever since Bulger's first 7 starts in '02, Holt has had 91-117 catches, 1,188-1,696, and 4-12 TDs EVERY YEAR! Those are AWESOME numbers!

Well, this was meant to be in the sense of RIGHT NOW, so here are my explanations for a couple of tandoms you left off of their.

Matt Schaub - Andre Johnson: Sure, they have only managed a measly 32 completions for 535 yards and 5 touchdowns... IN 5 GAMES! That averages out too 6.4 completions, 107 yards and a touchdown a game. Also, you put that into a sixteen game season, with averages, they would have finished with about 102 completions, with 1712 yards and 16 touchdowns. That would out play everyone on this list except maybe Brady - Moss, although they only win in touchdowns. They should be a force, and have shown great chemistry, which i feel warrants a high rank on this top 10 list.

Anderson - Edwards: How do you not have them on this list? You have two players with possibly the most potential at their positions and they did what they did last year with Anderson being a full-time starter for the first time in his career and Edwards' only his second. They put up 80 completions for 1289 yards and 16 touchdowns, and what has happened that could slow them from doing the same this year?

* Outta room, will continue in the next argument

Alright, since for some reason fannation logged me out and deleted my last argument, I'll sum it up a bit.

First, Manning to Harrison is a lethal combo. They have to be up high. Two HoFers have been great, recently and in the past. An injury that appears to have healed is no reason to put one shot wonders over them.

Second, your Schaub-Johnson argument is completely flawed. Why? BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED! Great! I'm glad that they did well statistically per game, but that doesn't make you great! You have to do it on the field, not in the calculator. Only 5 games together doesn't make them some awesome tandem. They both were hurt, and thus were not great with each other. And it probably wasn't a fluke- Johnson always seems to have nagging injuries, and in his first year starting, Schaub missed significant time with two separate injuries. Basically, you have nothing to go on there. With two injury prone players, that duo might NEVER play together more than 10 or 11 games a season!

Basically, the, "well, over a WHOLE SEASON..." argument doesn't work. Injuries are too big a factor for you to ignore. Greg Cook and Ki-Jana Carter might have been all time greats if they could stay healthy, but that???s football. Let???s see those two actually do something together before we crown ???em.

Now, don???t try to counter that with me having Bulger-Holt so high, because those two have PRODUCED.

They consistently manage to create greatness. Last year is hard to tell due to the injury to Bulger and the whole offense in general getting hurt. But from 04-06 in 45 games together, they put up over 280 catches for nearly 3,900 yards and 30 TDs. Doubt at your own risk if you still don't trust the Pro Bowl QB and future HoF- receiver.

In reference to Braylon Edwards and Adersen, you're off base. You say they have the most potential of anyone at their positions? Really? Because see, I hear this Jay Cutler kid described by everyone as the next great QB. Yet, Andersen is being treated warily contract wise even by his own team! Edwardsa may also have more potential than Brandon Marshall, but they don't call him "Mini-TO" just because he does some dumb stuff. But what REALLY flaws your argument is how high you have them. How do they go over Palmer- Johnson??? Johnson and Palmer have gone at it together for several years and put up numbers that put guys in the Hall if they keep it up over a career. Manning-Harrison solidifed both as HoFers and possible GOATS at their positions... and on and on!

Well, I simply dont have enough space so I have to sum up alot of stuff from your 1200+ argument!

First off, you keep bringing up this thing about "one hit wonders" yet you have the combination of Jay Cutlar - Brandon Marshall in there. Brandon Marshall was not even the starting receiver to start last year, and they have only been together for one year. They were basically a lesser version of Derek Anderson - Braylon Edwards.

"Greg Cook and Ki-Jana Carter might have been all time greats if they could stay healthy"

Your basically giving me a reason to counter your Bulgar - Holt being so high. Bulgar has had health issues his whole career. I know that they are very effective when they are both healthy, JUST LIKE MATT SCHAUB AND ANDRE JOHNSON! You seem to like contradicting yourself.

As for the Carson Palmer - Chad Johnson thing, I figure their best days are behind them now, as Johnson isn't happy with the Bengals or Marvin Lewis, or even Carson Palmer for that matter. Throw in the fact that he is going to play hurt with a partial tear to his labrum, and I don't see them being as effective as they have been in the past, or as effective as the six pairs I have above them.

Look in the comments for the explanation of why I wrote so much- it WAS an accident.

Anyway, yes, I did criticize your one hit wonders, BUT I just said you had too many of them. I had Cutler- Marshall at #10, the last spot. And they were my only pair. YOU, however, had Edwards-Andersen MUCH higher, at #6 and over greats like Palmer-CJ and Manning-Harrison, and then you ALSO had Schaub-Johnson at #10. And they aren't even on hit wonders. They're 1/3rd hit wonders, really!

Now you OBVIOUSLY didn't read my argument if you think I am contradicting myself on Bulger-Holt when I criticize Schaub and Johnson for being injured. So I'll say it again: Schaub and Johnson HAVE NOT PRODUCED YET! Yes, they SEEM great when they play together, but that has only been FIVE GAMES! Do you crown a Super Bowl winner after 5 games?

Now, Bulger, he gets hurt a lot too. HOWEVER, he has played several DOZEN games with Holt, showing with ACTUAL PRODUCTION (unlike the math and averaging you had to use to make Schaub look good.) We know that Bulger may be hurt just like Schaub, yet they have ALREADY combined for several hundred more passes, thousands more yards, and dozens more TDs. They have a sample to go on

Enough with derek anderson... One hit wonder

August 26, 2008  03:07 AM ET

edwards and johnson are two of the top 6 receivers in the league and their quarterbacls are getting there, they got to be somewhere on ther

August 26, 2008  03:20 AM ET

Manning to Harrison WAS a great tandem. Its over now guys. Harrison's knee injury is degenerate and he will never be the player he once was. Expect him to his significant time again.

August 26, 2008  07:19 AM ET

Brandon Marshall is an emerging superstar. Even with his suspension , he'll still probably get 90+ catches & 10+ TD's. Just avoid injuries & suspensions!

Montana-Rice? Young-Rice? Warner-Holt? Aikman-Irvin? he never said active

Yeah, but it was a great tandem two years ago and last year, AND Harrison should be able to bounce back at least enough to muster 1,000 yards and 6 TDs. The combination is still good, and has been great very recently, so I gave it respect!

The right arguement contradicts. He says you can't put too much emphasis on one hit wonders but you have Jay Cutler on your list. He has had one pretty decent year and thats it.

Also, how can you have Bulger at #4? I'll give you he belongs in the top 10 but #4? Alot of those Holt stats that you spewed came from a backup QB because Bulger has a hard time staying healthy.

<----------------- and it should not be close.

First of all, I had ONE single 1 hit wonder in Cutler, and he was at #10. He had two one hit wonders, at #6 and #10, and his #10 tandem have played like 5 games together. That's more of a "one-third hit wonder".

Also, how can I NOT have Bulger at #4?! Bulger may get injured a lot, but they still produce. In 2003, in 15 games, the two hooked up 110 times for nearly 1,600 yards and 11 TDs. In '06, it was 93 times for nearly 1,200 yards and 10 TDs. In '05, it was 14 games, with like 80 catches for like 1,100 yards and 9 TDs.

THAT is a dominant duo. And you are the one flashing contradictions when you criticize me for having an oft-injured QB up there, yet you vote for the guy who listed the tandem which only managed to play 5 games together because they were trading off getting hurt!

****?!?!?!?!

I just posted an argument, and instead it logged me out and didn't post!!! WHAT THE HELL???

August 26, 2008  05:18 PM ET

What about Dehomme to Smith? I think they deserve at least a mention!

August 26, 2008  05:28 PM ET

how come it seems like his argument was alot longer then 1200 characters? also, i gave "honorable mention" to Delhomme to Smith

August 26, 2008  08:29 PM ET

EH, why did you go over the letter limit.....thats cheating.....you doubled it which is almost as bad as creating fake acounts....for that vote-------------->

August 26, 2008  08:36 PM ET

I dunno what you're talking about? ;)

Sorry, but I was just pissed off. It deleted my first argument when I submitted it, all 1199 characters. When I re-wrote it in Word so I wouldn't lose it again, I honestly didn't realize how long it got. I just pasted it and hit submit. The "Character Limit Exceeded" message didn't come up until after I had already hit submit.

And even though it was by accident, it wouldn't have been cheating if done purposely. Anyone can do it, therefore it isn't cheating.

August 26, 2008  08:49 PM ET

Big Ben-Holmes should be top ten. Ben is arguably the third best quarterback in the league, and Holmes will be seen as a top ten WR after this season AT LEAST. Especially considering the fact that he is becoming the primary receiver on the team, and he led the league in YPC last season.

like, i find it hard to respond because i have one argument to trespond to all of that.
