MIAMI HEAT

first name then argue 2nd argument

hmmmm Im stuck between two teams

Golden State and Portland because I like them both over Miami's chances this year so I think I will go with

Golden State

Golden St.? Wow, that's not the pick i would've thought you would go with.

No Baron Davis?

No real point guad?

Yes, they added Corey Maggette but that's NOT going to do it.

The Warrior are in the WEST. Denver this year had to get 50 wins to get in the 8th spot!

I think Miami has a GREAT chance.

I think Beasley will be an impact rookie.
The Matrix is still there.
A healthy D-Wade is back who balled in the Olympics.

The EAst is still weaker than the West. Boston was a powerhouse but seeds #6 through #8 are for AnYBODY!

Golden St. is a good team but they don't have an impact player like D-Wade. Monte Ellis is very good but has NEVER been the best player on the team. Ellis has been in BAron's shadow.

The fact of the matter is the #8th seed in this last years playoffs in the EAST was UNDER .500 and the #8 seed in the WEst won 50 GAMES!

Ok lets point out a couple things for Miami

1) Miami is coming off a season where they were 15 and 67
2) the 8th seed in the east had a record of 37 and 45
3) last year the heat were 10 and 39 with Wade starting
4) no Shaq, Zo is a huge question mark is he going this year? basically no established center
5) who is their pg? Chalmers a rc or Banks an unproven? a huge question mark

Golden State won 48 games and honestly I dont see it being a yearly thing where you have to win 50 games just to get in the playoffs. They were closer to the playoffs than the Heat were last year and they have less question marks going in.

Wade is healthy NOW but will he hold up 82 games?
What will the Heats center situation look like?
What will their pg situation look like?

You are depending on a rookie to catipult them in to the playoffs? I like Beasley I really do but thats a ton to just put on him right away. Golden State lost Davis yes but they are at least sliding an experienced player in to fill his position and they went out and got Magette who is an established star player.

more to come

That doesn't matter. Marion came over late and D-Wade only played 54 games and had problems with his left knee all season LONG!

If you think D-Wade will lead another team to the WORST record you are FOOLED.

Beasley will probably average high for a rookie but he is not going to be depended on for ALL THE WORK.

How about:
Haslim?
shawn Marion?
healthy D-Wade

Golden St. couldn't do it last year so what makes you think this year?

The lost more than they gained. Lose Baron Davis pick up Maggette?

I do like Maggette but his is NOT A LEADER.

With the east being weak they could start Blount and win 40 games. D-Wade is playing like Old. He had 27 points in the gold medal game.

I think Spain's team is better than about 60% of the teams in the EAST.

Here are some problems with your arguments

1) its the olympics and none of this counts towards the 82 game season. So Wade looks to be back well they always do before they go out again

2) Wade did great and won a gold medal with the best of the Americans in the NBA playing beside him. I got news for you he wont have guys like Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James on the Heat with him. The better your cast is

So lets see

Haslim? had him last year still sucked when he played
Wade? had him last year still sucked when he played

Lets look at something about Miami

05-06 52 wins
06-07 44 wins
07-08 15 wins

MIAMI IS NOT A GOOD TEAM ANYMORE

pg- questionable
c- questionable

The two positions considered the most important and the Heat are pathetic looking at those positions. Yet I am supposed to believe that they are going to jump 20 to 30 games and make the playoffs? It just wont happen

Warriors are a young team who are improving. They were just a couple games out of the playoffs last year and managed to maintain most of their players. You can say Ellis this and that but I take over the Miami point which is who again Banks? lol yea ok

Ill wait for the arguments but i would be very surprised if the Warriors made it this year. I expdect them to actually drop off slightly.

Portland in Mavs out

dog fight for 8th between Mavs, Nuggets, GSW, and LAC, in the end LAC comes out on top

August 26, 2008  03:46 PM ET

bucks!

August 26, 2008  04:08 PM ET

The Warriors don't need a real PG. Getting assists in that offense is easier than a Nimpho.

August 26, 2008  04:21 PM ET

Mavs still have a better overall team than Portland.

August 26, 2008  04:21 PM ET

Will wait for arguments

August 26, 2008  04:25 PM ET

PORTLAND!

August 26, 2008  04:53 PM ET

I'd take Portland over GSW. They got Rudy Fernandez!

August 26, 2008  05:48 PM ET

Is there any reason they chose to completely waste the first argument?

August 26, 2008  05:54 PM ET

i really like both arguments because I dont see the Warriors making it either. They need a PG like Hinrich or something. Maybe trade a bag of chips for Marbury. Not that he is the answer but Monta Ellis could move to his real position.

because I like to play by the rules stated in the throwdown. He said name in 1st then start to argue in second. I figure if he list it clearly and I dont want to use those rules than I shouldnt take the throwdown

Ellis is out now for 3 to 4 months.

August 27, 2008  09:07 PM ET

Since this TD was started before Ellis got hurt im gonna ignore that. But even then i dont see the Warriors in the playoffs .Chosen1 you gave basically no reasons for why you think th Warriors will make the playoffs. Peach argued both sides.

I really dont see how much argument you can put in to the warriors they won 48 games they retained the majority of their team and even though they lost Davis I see Ellis as being a guy who can fill in and they went and got Magette to replace Ellis at the 2. They dont have much of a drop off in talent and you wont have to win 50 games every year to get in the playoffs it was just a rare year

The Heat suck had the worst record in the NBA have a question mark at the two most important positions. I mean the Heat are going to start a guy at center who sucks compared to even say Brendan Haywood and for years us Wiz fans wanted to run him out of town. The Heat are just a joke

August 27, 2008  09:47 PM ET

Is it possible that Peachy legitimitely outargued his opponent here?

Is the Question Man witnessing a miracle?

August 27, 2008  09:49 PM ET

Peachy out argued a more than legitimate opponent. I am impressed.
