Bucmaster: 7-3! said 08/26, 09:40 PM
Not happening at all. I'm tired of all you homers, saying, "Ooh, we got Favre. We're going to go to the play-offs." Yeah...no. Maybe, if they were in the NFC, maybe, they just might be able to squeeze past somebody and MAYBE win the wild-card. But they don't play in the NFC. For those intelligent sports fans out there, the Jets are an AFC team.
I can list tons of teams that have a better chance than them. (NOTE: This does not mean they will go to the play-offs. This does not apply to all of them.)
Patriots
Colts
Jags
Chargers
Browns
Titans
Steelers
Broncos
Yeah, so..Favre...not going to the Super Bowl this year. Nope. No can do.

Well you didn't catch a homer. You caught a Giants fan. Lets see where your assumptions on this season go awry:
Tons of teams you say? Tons usually weigh alot. Especially plural.
So, lets chop your list:
Scratch off the Patriots, Colts, Chargers, and either Pitt or Cleveland. Your pick for the North. Doesn't matter.
We know the Jets aren't winning a division, so I scratched off the 4 division winners.
That leaves the Jags, Pitt/Cleveland, Titans, Broncos.
Jax: Could very well unseat the Colts, but I don't bet against Peyton Manning. They are as close to a post-season lock as you can get, so that leaves 1 WC spot for the rest of the teams plus the Jets.
Titans: Vince Young isn't the best QB on his team, let alone a top-anything QB in the league. That offense is awful.
Broncos: Really? I know you said 'not all of them'...but the Broncos are a non-factor. Downhill slide for a couple years now.
Pitt/Cleve: Question marks everywhere. Steelers are an enigma to me lately on both sides of the ball, and you can't expect the Browns to repeat their offensive performance. They could, you just cant put the money in the bank.
I'll get to the Jets after.

Blatant pre-season declarations, with no games played, in August - nonetheless - are the worst of their kind. It's so stupid to predict like that.

Even before we got Favre, we were a much better team. Now with Favre, this team should go AT LEAST 8-8. I'd say 10-6, but I'm a Jet fan myself.

"Yeah, so..Favre...not going to the Super Bowl this year. Nope. No can do."
The TD is about the making the playoffs, you didn't need to say this.

The Jets signed a bunch of guys to crazy deals
Faneca is excellent but was over paid and might be starting downside of a great career
Pace had a breakout season at 28 for the Cards in a contract year
Woody is okay but not exceptional
Favre is learning a new system
If he sticks around, NEXT YEAR might be the year they are something special

A WC doesn't have to be something special. Please see: Redskins.

I don't see the Jets making the playoffs either - too many better teams have improved this year ----- Buffalo and Miami are both stronger ---- Pats will kill them --- and the all time interception leader - Brett Favre - should throw up a bunch of INTS this year.

How is Denver a "non-factor"?
The team has a 2nd Year RB that averaged 5.2 YPC last year.
They dropped Javon Walker and Travis Henry, OH NO!!!
Jay Cutler was arguably a top 10 QB last year while losing almost 30 pounds not knowing that he was diabetic.
This preseason only Drew Brees has a higher QB rating than Cutler.
Brandon Marshall may only be suspended for one game, and that guy is AMAZING.
But the biggest thing here is that the Broncos have a VERY easy schedule this year. They will play 10 games against teams that were sub .500 last year. of those they play 7 games against teams that had 4 or less wins last year.
Denver may not be a contender to win it all, but this team can EASILY win 9 to 10 games this year.

The Jets lost 6 games by a TD or less. They had the 3rd ranked passing offense with QB by commitee. The additions they have made should equal 5 to 7 more wins against such a soft schedule.

BSchwartz07 has a good point. Hopefully Cutler can rally back from his diabetes

Pre-Season schedule rankings are garbage, BS. Its just how it is.
I don't take stock in pre-season performance, either. Nobody can doubt their running game. I never have. I just don't see them competing in the AFC.

Moondizzle, I don't see them competing for the AFC crown, but with 4 games vs KC and Oakland, games against Miami, Buffalo, Atlanta, and Carolina this team can fall backwards into 9 or 10 wins which means playoffs. Remember they have only had 2 losing seasons since Shannahan has taken over as head coach.

3-2 after Bucmaster mentioned "no Super Bowl" and barely presented an argument? Thats odd.
