I say yes becuase if the defender did not push you out then you probaly would be in bounds. Now without the force out rule anytime a pass get thrown near the sidelines, all the defender has to do is push the reciever out of bounds and the pass will be incomplete. The rule still should be in the rulebok because now that favors the defense and will make QBs have a lot more incomplete passes.
Good Luck Bigalike

A couple of refutations first:
1. The problem here is that there is no guarantee that a WR would come down inbounds, especially with both feet as is required in the NFL. The force-out rule unfairly skewed the balance toward the receiver who, even if he wouldn't have come down inbounds, could merely initiate contact and get the call his way automatically...
2. The football field is 160 feet wide... if a QB can't get the ball to a receiver within that generous width, he doesn't deserve to be an NFL QB. If QBs' incompletions go up because of this, they probably can't bowl without bumpers, either...
Now to my argument...
In recent years, the NFL has altered one rule after another to favor offense in their game. Defenders are handcuffed with rule after rule against their play. We too often over-legislate our sports to artificially generate offense. The abolishment of the force-out rule allows the action ON THE FIELD to dictate the course of the game rather than the imperfect human eyes of referees.
Subjective rules such as the force-out only give unfair advantages to the offense. This does not favor the defense... it merely corrects an offense-oriented imbalance in the rules...

In your second refutions, I argree a QB should be able to throw within that with when a reciever is running that route, but what is he a running a route to the sideline, the QB is not going to throw it away from his route?? He will throw it to him and the defender will push him out and an incomplete pass will be called.
Is that fair to the WR....NO, the defenders..YES. I know the force-out rule does favor the recievers, but referees should be able to tell if it was a legitimate push or if it was incidental. As a defender you should have to intentionally push someone out of bounds which is what most defenders will do now without this rule.
Without, the rule will hurt a lot of teams when it is a close game and try to throw near the sideline and the defender pushes the reciever out of bounds and the team will loose the game becuase they will have to throw near the middle of the field and use different strategies.
The force-out rule still should be in the rulebook becuase of this.

To answer your points above:
Many O-coordinators have begun to favor those sideline throws... just look @ the Manning brothers. Why? Because they know that, every time, they are going to get the favorable call. This hamstrings the secondary unfairly, as the WR can initiate that contact AND get the call his way...
What eliminating this rule does is forces teams to use the sidelines more creatively. The best WRs will still get their routes along the edges, & they WILL successfully execute them within the boundaries. Getting rid of this rule takes away a loophole that allows QBs and O-coordinators to manipulate the sidelines & widen the field...
In a close game, a team can still throw to the sidelines... & remember, that incompletion is going to stop the clock. If a QB can't keep it inside the boundaries, & if a WR can't stay inbounds (a talent they've learned since college & before), maybe they should go to Arena Football... they obviously need the walls to keep them reined in...
Too long have offenses gotten the benefit of the doubt in questionable instances. This eliminates an ambiguity in the rules and keeps the results where they belong -- ON THE FIELD & OUT OF REFS' HANDS!

When a QB throws a bad pass every once and a while then the WR is going to have trouble staying inbounds or the defender will just push him out and the pass is incomplete. Now, with the rule he pushes him out the pass is complete.
Yes, this keeps it out of the ref's hands, but then what do they belong there for??? To just make signals and call penalties. The referees need to be able to make the call so that the game if equal.
If the defender pushes the reciever out which should be illegal becuase that gives the defender an unfair advantage. The referee should be there to make the call and make the game fair and call the play a force-out and the pass os complete instead of a illegal push and an incomplete pass that could cost the team a game.
That is why the force out call should still be in the rulebook.
Great td Bigalike!!

Sorry- but the forfeited turn swings my vote to the left. This is a tourney TD and Bigalke is a veteran.

Sorry everyone... I was out of town for the weekend... I left before my opponent got his final argument in here, and I never had the chance to get to a computer while I was out of town... so sorry about that everyone, and it looks like we're going to have to do this one again...
