Green Bay will make the playoff with Aaron Rogers as the starting QB.

With the young and flourishing talent in Green Bays roster, both offense and defense will make even a sideline lifer like Aaron Rogers look good. They have proven over the past two season that as long as they have someone who can get the ball to the receivers they will make plays. Their running game is one of the tops in the NFC, Ryan Grant, who will rush for well over 1,000 yards this season.

With the young talent in the front seven on defense and the experience of the secondary they will have enough speed to shutdown any running attack or passing strike.

Yeah, it was the runner up for MVP last year BRET FAVRE!

Anyways, that statement is PRETTY BOLD.

I don't know if they will make the playoffs.

Yes, their defense is good. Ryan Grant is very good but what if he gets injured?

Green Bay does have a pretty solid team but the QB spot in INEXPERIENCED.

The Packers won 13 games last year and i see a HUGE decrease. They probably will finish over .500 but not by much.

The first 7 games will be rough for Aaron Rodgers.

The play:
Dallas
Minnesota
Indy
Tampa Bay
and Seattle.

From the SI predictions which i'm obsessed about, they had a lot of NFC teams going 9-7, Giants, Panthers, Tampa Bay, and somebody else.

I don't think Aaron Rodgers will be GREAT under pressure this year. NO playoffs for the Packers but a 8-8 season at low and 9-7 and high. There you go.

There is only one statement that you made that is fact. Green Bay's depth at the QB position has only one layer (Rogers). Nothing like putting all you eggs in one basket. But other teams in history have done more with less. Look at the Baltimore Ravens, Trent Dilfer, give me a break. Dilfer couldn't carry Rogers jock strap is Rogers paid him.

Rogers wil have to grow up quickly but deals with pressure better in three preseason games then Favre has done in the past three season. He will not be quick to try and force plays because he has had plenty of days to sit back and reflect on where that got Green Bay under Favre. 10-6 and Green Bay is in the playoffs under Rogers.

Anyone can throw a 5yd slant and let Driver, Jennings and Co. take it to the house.

August 27, 2008  09:07 PM ET

Over .500 gets in the playoffs in the NFC.

August 27, 2008  09:40 PM ET

I think they may have a shot at it

August 27, 2008  09:42 PM ET

I agree with bucky, a lot of 5yrd slants were thrown and the WR did the rest. That is how the Pack had the most YAC in the NFL last year. plus the NFC is weak, will wait for arguments.

Agree with bucky

Sounds like Bucky's a pretty popular fella round here
Hmmm .....
GB does have a tough start to their season, but I can't see their production falling off that much even with a bench rat.

Just because it happened once doesnt mean it will happen again. How many other times has a veteran QB retired and the team falls off a ton.

Hey, have ya'll seen Zimmerman's picks from SI? Yeah, they have GREEN BAY NOT GOING to the PLAYOFFS!

August 28, 2008  03:50 AM ET

Who gives a rats **** what he picks. I am glad the Packers are being over looked by the Vikings. I promise you by the end of the year you will be saying that Rodgers is the best QB in the conference. No real competition but if the Packers are going to fail because of QB problems then so are the Vikings. Jackson is already banged up and Rodgers has better talent around him plain and simple. Will the Packers be as good as last year? No, but I am more worried about the DT position than I am QB. [fantasy tip: start your RB against GB] Rodgers will struggle in certain games with the blitz but remember they protected a much less mobile QB last year. Rodgers will get sacked more just because Favre was great at exploiting the blitz but the Packers have to many good wide outs to blitz all the time. They also have by far the best coach in the division.

Also isn't Bryant McKinnie going to be suspended at the start of the season?

August 29, 2008  11:41 PM ET

i heard that too, bucky

Yes, Dilfer couldn't carry Rogers jock strap, but Jamal Lewis then is better than Grant is now, and the Ravens defense and special teams were both far better than the Packers defense and special teams. You put Rogers on that Ravens team and they win the SB, but Rogers is not on that Ravens team, so comparisons between him and Dilfer are useless. If you have arguable the greatest defense of all time, with one of the greatest special teams of all time and a strong running game, you don't need a QB as much as if you have a good defense, average to below average special teams, and a above average running game.
