Pick the NEXT team to move in the NFL
ONE team per arguement- and you cannot pick the same team as I (meaning If I take your pick oh well - so you need to have 5 total that you can argue)
My First Pick:
Jacksonville
1. HORRID Attendance for a Championship Caliber team- Its not like this is Buffalo who has not seen the Playoffs since There was 2.00 gas - or the Cowboys who havn;t WON a playoff game since Techmo was the game to play and Madden stunk. The Jags have NO excuse for them not to sell out.
2. Glut of teams- there must be 20 teams in Florida to go to- and an hours drive from J-Ville for a Football fan gives you TONS of teams to go see
3. The owner is Wayne Weaver - Dude is a SHOE SALESMAN!!
4. Consecutive sellouts: 0 - Season-ticket waiting list: None
For a team THIS good- and THIS new- to not even have a season ticket watiing list is INSANE
Chosen1 said 09/01, 08:52 PM
Ok I will go ahead and take the Minnesota Vikings
1) they play in an outdated stadium in the Metrodome and have low attendence problems
2) their lease expires in 2011 as it is and they would be looking for a new stadium as it is
3) it does not appear as if though a deal for a new stadium in Minneapolis is likely to happen
4) a move to LA would give them one thing they have wanted and need and that is a new stadium
5) it would be a huge increase to their profits being that LA is a much bigger market than where they are and is sure to bring in more money
I honestly dont think the owner of the Jaguars will move the team. It would make sense but he does not seem like the type who really cares about making sense. He has already came out and said he does not plan on moving to LA and will not be selling his team and with him I honestly believe he is telling the truth.
With Minnesota they may say they dont want to move but I can see it happening especially since people are not expecting the citizens of Minneapolis to sign off on helping fund a new stadium with their tax money and the Vikings are desperate to get a new stadium

My Number 2 Team
The sAints
Yes they have a loyal Fanbase
Yes they have a package from the State/City that any other team would LOVE to have
Yes they have roots
BUT they also have an owner who will move them as SOON as he can- and if Katrina had not hit when it did - they might be gone anyway- Yes the Vikings MIGHT move- but most Saints fans know that we Saints are in a Race
One of 3 things will happen
1. Benson will move the team
2. Benson will Sell the team
3. Benson will die
Thats it. TONS of people in the New Orleans area have offered to buy the team- even Archie Manning - and Benson said no- yet CONFIRMED reports surfaced after Katrina of Benson trying to sign a deal to NOT MOVE the Saints BACK- until every puff peice on CNNSI/ESPN/NFL .com talked about how important the Saints were to a damaged city.
But one of those 3 things will happen and happen SOON
Chosen1 said 09/02, 06:02 PM
Ok not a bad pick I actually like this one over your first pick because I dont see the Jaguars moving even though it would be smart.
I will go with San Diego for my second pick
1) the guy who announced who plans on building a brand new stadium for an nfl team to come to Los Angeles is a friend of the Chargers owners
2) the Chargers have a lease that would be easy to get out of
3) the Chargers are looking for a new stadium and it is not a guaranteee that they will be able to get a deal done for a new one in San Diego
4) I may be wrong on this but I think their preseason practice workouts are in LA as it is
The one problem I have with the Saints pick and its what kept me from taking them as my first pick is I think it still is a bad time. If they move now I feel it would still be real bad press considering the area is still recovering from Katrina and things are not built back up so the Saints are still pretty much all they have
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 09/02, 06:17 PM
Like the Deigo pick- but picking ANY Socal team is about like picking a New York team- they move 2 miles every 10 years it seems- they just pick a suburb.
next Pick- the Falcons
The main fact is that this team has NO SUPPORT- and they are always trying to draw fans. Even in the Dirty Bird Era they were still looking to get more support- and truth be Told- even with Mr Home Depot still trying- i can see him getting tired of trying and scooting the team- again they have NO SELLOUTS and NO season ticket sales- even with a nice place to play-
the Birmingham Falcons?
Alabama supports EVERYTHING- I mean after the family reunion and you have all the phone numbers what is there to do on a saturday night? The XFL even popped high ratings in Alabama!
The Altanta area simply does not support the team- or any team- If they made the team the Atlanta Bulldogs THEN they might sellout- since that is the ONLY team they support.
Chosen1 said 09/02, 08:02 PM
After much thought and debate over several teams I am going to go with the
Buffalo Bills
1)They are already being forced to play games in Canada as it is.
2) They dont sell out their home games where they are
3) They are pretty much the odd team out in New York being that the Giants and Jets are more popular and they dont even play in NY
The Bills honestly could just use a change of scenery and Los Angeles would be the perfect change.

I have a good first pick, but not so much for the others.
I know Chosen 1 doesn't like names to be mentioned before he posts, so I'll hold off.

Rumor has it that Chosen1 never votes on anyone else's throwdowns, just his own. That is the epitomy of selfishness for a debate community that is give and take. I am new here, but even I see the need for you to change your parsimonius ways.

lol rumor has it you are not really new here at least thats what I have been seeing in the comment section. Also if you listen to rumors and gossip well then you are just setting yourself up to look both stupid and wrong which is the case you just put yourself in.
Tell you what though I bet you your life that I can show you where I have voted in throwdowns other than my own. Now lets see how sure you really are in what you say and if not well do yourself a favor and just shut up now.
Do I vote in every throwdown? No because Im not one of those people that just votes to vote. I dont vote on lists or by who I like or dont like. So if I see a throwdown that isnt finished I wait for arguments to be complete and a lot of the time with things being knocked off the page and the fact that I dont check this site every second of the day I miss some of the closed throwdowns I would vote on. I also dont vote on throwdowns I have no knowledge of so I wont vote in nascar, golf, mma, soccer or any other sport or thing I do not follow at all because to be honest when it comes to those things for all I know anything a person is saying could be made up and I wouldnt know.
Like I said though put up or shut up if you are going to come on here and run your mouth lets make it interesting because I bet I can show you where you are wrong. Anyways man or woman or whatever you are I honestly would question the reliability of the word of anyone who sits around and discusses my voting patterns because a person with that little of a life clearly has the time on their hands to make up anything.

The Saints, they are in a city below sea-level, every hurricane in the gulf has them wandering where they will play at. OKC sounds much better for the Saints than New Orleans.

Excellent picks and arguments both sides.
The only one I can't really see is the Falcons. The NFL already looks foolish for not having a team in it's number 2 market (L.A). I can't see them leaving the biggest city in the 'south' without a team.

Huh?
Did Texas leave again?
the NFL LEFT the 4th biggest market (Houston) and the 2nd Biggest!!

I didn't count Texas as the 'south'...and even without Houston, Texas isn't left without a team.
And because the NFL has effed up and left big markets...that's why I don't think they are bound to do it again.
I meant the 'South' as the colloqueal 'south'- the south-east U.S. states such as the Carolinas, Tennesee, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Northern Florida. Atlanta is the largest metro center in that part of the country by far.

Chosen, you are 100% wrong on your Bills evaluation...
"1)They are already being forced to play games in Canada as it is."
No, they SIGNED a 5-year deal to play a game or two in Toronto every year, which actually pretty much keeps them in Buffalo for at least the next 5 years.
"2) They dont sell out their home games where they are"
They sell out every year. You could not have been more wrong.
"3) They are pretty much the odd team out in New York being that the Giants and Jets are more popular and they dont even play in NY"
They're the ONLY team in New York, and draw from a completely different market, seeing as they are something like 7 hours away from NYC. Of course the Jets and Giants are more popular, they play in the LARGEST MARKET IN AMERICA!
Not to mention the fact that Toronto, for this preseason game, had to give away up to 15,000 tickets just to sell out the game! There were as many Steelers fans there as Bills fans, and there was NO NOISE there. Barely a murmur. I'm not opposed to the choice of the Bills so much as the bad reasoning. Vote left.

1) They were forced to play in Canada not by the NFL but by financial situations. The Bills are in the bottom fourth of the league as far as revenue goes. There agreeing to play in Canada was made as a weak effort to try and boost revenue because they just are not making that much money. That is why they are playing in Canada hoping it will draw people in from Canada for the games actually played in Buffalo. The Bills have been trying for years to do everything they can to draw interest in their team and increase revenue and it has not worked
2) I might have been wrong on that from what I read though it said they were not selling out every single home game. Not sure where I would be able to go in order to find out whether or not they sold out every game. I do know though that they normally end up with an attendence of under 72 thousand for home games
3) The Giants and the Jets are more popular everywhere in the state of New York other than maybe Buffalo. Overall people do not care about the Bills that is a fact.

1) You are partly right, they are there to boost sales. But they are in the bottom 4th of the league because they are a small market team. Their expenses are not as great as other teams. And what else have they "tried for years" to draw interest and increase revenue? The first thing they would have done is raise ticket prices, yet they remain among the lowest in the league.
2) I believe the last home game that didn't sell out for the Bills was in the 2006 season...and considering Buffalo is a blue-collar area and it snows like a b.itch during winter there, the fact they almost always sell out is a testament to their loyalty.
3) The Bills are FAR more popular in Western New York. The Giants/Jets are popular on Long Island, New Jersey, and that surrounding area. Once you get around the MA area, however, there are a lot of Pats fans, and that continues as you move north.

Ok as you mentioned they did raise ticket sales. Also to name something else they did they moved their training camp to Rochester and put it St. John Fisher College. They did so to bring in extra interest and money from the Rochester area
Like I said not sure about that but like I said from what I read they hadnt been selling out every game. I also read they were having problems selling luxrury boxes and things of that nature. Loyalty or not they need more money and they wont be getting it in the Buffalo area
