Pick the NEXT team that Rudi Johnson should try out

ONE team per arguement- and you cannot pick the same team as I (meaning If I take your pick oh well - so you need to have 5 total that you can argue)

My Pick

The Pats

Simple- worked out pretty well for the last Bengal Back that lost his job in Cincy

My Pick

The Pats - Just kidding. Ill got with the Browns though the Lions have signed him.

"Johnson has signed a contract with the Lions, Mlive.com reports"

I think the Browns should have took a shot at him. Lewis is entering his ninth NFL season and has shown he can get that injury bug.

Cleavland doesn't have a sure fire number two and needs a running game to take the pressure off of there potent passing attack. Lewis goes down they can really have a lot of issues getting their offense going.

THis is SHOULD not WILL.

But the Lions would have been my second choice- Why? They HAVE the passing game- they HAVE a Qb- If he gets 700 yards and 3.5 yards a carry this could be a 10 win team- maybe even challange for the DIV.

I don;t know if the Browns are a good home- I don;t think Rudi can be a THird down back- and that is what Cleveland needs.

"They HAVE the passing game" -The same could be said about the Browns. Rudi is not getting any younger and he should find a team that is actually in the playoff race.

The only way the Lions can get a 10 win season is if Matt Millen met Dorothy on the yellow brick road and showed him a way to get a brain, heart and courage all in one sitting. Not likely considering Hurricane Gustav wont find its way to the Motor City.

The Browns don't necessarily need a 3rd down back, they just need an effective back to take some of the load off an aging Lewis.

Rudi would be a solid back up if he goes down. Anderson emergence as a top passer in the league is due largely to there running attack.

Without Jamal in the game the opposing D knows they are likely to go to the pass with there lack of depth at the back position.

ok.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU PICKED in round 2

So I really can;t go back over the Browns again

My Final Pick is The BEARS

Yup- You stay in Cold weather- and all you have to beat out is a rookie running back if your Hammy improves- the Bears LOVE to run- and sadlhy havin't had a great one since the spaceship landed- Rudi comes in takes the spot and becomes a hero - I mean a first round running back for the Bears- how good could he be? If Forte went to Penn State he would already be cut!

So lets see your final TWO picks there

gezz ONE friken rule . . . . .

Texans and the Saints are my final two picks

Texans finished 8-8 last year in a tough AFC and I think they could be better this year. They had injuries slight them all last year and still managed to get to .500 without a dominant runner. With Dayne no longer on the team they really only have a dilapidated injury prone Ahman Green ,rookie Steve Slaton and 3rd year nobody Chris Taylor.

With a decent run game who knows how good that Shaub -Johnson combo can be? There defense is improved vastly and there line is starting to come together. Only thing missing is a reliable back.

Now the Saints are missing a clear cut number one back as well. Reggie is proving to be a possible Peter Warwick and has not shown he can handle the full load. McAllister tearing his ACL in the third game of last season has shown he cannot stay healthy. He will not be at 100% and they need insurance. Rudie can come in and help a team that can make a deep playoff run this year.

The BEARS look as though they are content with rookie Forte possibly starting and veterans Kevin Jones and Peterson taking some caries. Pats seems set with Maroney and Faulk who provided a pretty potent 1-2 punch last year.

Pats have Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. IMO they don't need him.

September 1, 2008  07:54 PM ET

The Texans could have been a possibility. Tatum Bell was also released. Rudi will back up Kevin Smith.

September 1, 2008  07:55 PM ET

YO!

We still have 3 picks left- no help from the peanut gallery!!

September 1, 2008  08:20 PM ET

The Texans were my second choice or NO. Without a healthy Duece they could use him

September 1, 2008  08:33 PM ET

OOPS.

September 1, 2008  09:02 PM ET

The Pats have Maroney, Lamont Jordan, Sammy Morris, Heath Evans, and Kevin Faulk

September 2, 2008  01:03 AM ET

Bucky, I may be crazy, but I don't think Rudi is going to be backing up a rookie unless his hammy keeps troubling him. Rudi was a stud most of his career before the hammy injury last year. If he gets it back to 100% I think Smith will be backing up Rudi.

BOLD CHARACTERS!

Sorry but Lewis was pretty solid last year, and adding an overaged back to cover for your overaged back isn't exactly a strategy I endorse.
