On the Site that Shall not be named

They have a Poll, and like Big Ben68 finding Joe Gibbs hubcap, they get a little Crazy

The Question

Who is the greatest in Redskin history?

THIER Pick?

Darrell Green

I want ONE of the 44.7% (I know some of you visit both sites)
to DEFEND this MISTAKE

My Pick?

Samuel Adrian Baugh

I didn't vote in this poll, but this has been on the board for a while, and I'll take a stab at it. Good Luck David.

Green:

7 Pro Bowl Selections
4 All Pro Selections
2 Super Bowl Rings
1900s All Decade Team
1996 Walter Payton Man of the Year

Baugh made more All Pro teams, but Green made more Pro Bowl's. Really Baugh made 1 Pro Bowl team, but if you add in his All Star team's that was like the Pro Bowl back then he made it 6 times.

Look at some of the NFL Records owned by Green

Most seasons with one team
Most consecutive years with an INT (19)
Oldest player to return a INT for a TD
Most games played for a defensive player
Fastest 40 yard dash in NFL History (4.09)

That just names a few. On to Redskins record's

Most Career INT's
Most starts and games played
Most consecutive seasons
Most INT's returned for a TD

He owns many NFL and Redskins records and probably the fastest man in NFL History.

I think if you combine all that you should understand why 44.7 % of Sportsnation voted him the Greatest Redskin ever.

ok

1996 Walter Payton Man of the Year - So? Ray Lewis wouldn;t win Man of the Year if it was down to him and Dick Cheney

But I bet there is not an NFL team that would turn him down.

Baugh has 2 RIngs as well

Baugh was a 6-time Pro Bowler & 4-time first-team All-Pro in 16 years
Green was 7 Pro Bowl Selections & 1 All Pro Selections in 20 years

we don;t give points for second teamers here

ONE all-Pro? ONE?

But Here is the Thing

as a TWO way player- Baugh has 31 picks in 6 years of Iron Man
Green has 54 in TWENTY YEARS as a Full time Corner!!

Baugh has 187 Touchdown Passes
Green has ZERO

So Baugh averaged MORE Ints than Green did as a DB

and KILLS him in TDs.

Pop Quiz

Between the Two players- who had more than 5 picks in a year?

That would be BAUGH- who in a TEN GAME SEASON had Eleven picks- more than DOUBLE Greens best in a SIXTEEN GAME SEASON

Pop Quiz 2

Who here lead the NFL in Picks

Thats would be

DING Baugh! Correct!

in addition to all his passing feats- he might have been the better DB!

David your pretty much arguing against Baugh.

"Who here lead the NFL in Picks

Thats would be

DING Baugh! Correct!"

How does that help you at all? How does that show that he was a good player? Leading the NFL in INT's. That makes no sense.

"in addition to all his passing feats- he might have been the better DB!"

Another statement that just doesn't make sense. Throwing the ball to the other team makes him a better DB? I guess I would be a heck of a DB then.

"Baugh has 187 Touchdown Passes
Green has ZERO"

Considering Green didn't throw a pass, of course Baugh has more passing TD's. Why would you even put that in your argument?

I could argue some points against Baugh that wouldn't make sense as well. How many times did Baugh return an INT for a TD? That would be 0, Green did it 6 times.

How many NFL fastest man competitions did Baugh win? None and Green won 4.

See arguing that kind of stuff is just stupid.

Green did a lot outside of football as well. He founded a Youth Life foundation to help meet the needs of children.

He now sits Wolf Trap foundation board as a spokesman for education at Marymount university. Great in football and out

Well, now we can go round and round on this particular topic. Certainly there's NOTHING wrong with people saying Darrell Green is a great Redskins player...but to say THE greatest?? That's a stretch.
I mean, we're leaving out Sonny, Bobby Mitchell, Charley Taylor, Cliff Battles...it depends WHAT generation you are, really.
But I'l wait for some more responses, before I weigh in...

David, please make fun of me!

"and probably the fastest man in NFL History. "

I agreed with much of what you said until here. We are talking about a league that has had world class track stars such as Bob Hayes, Renaldo Nehemiah, and Willie Gault play. I realize Greene was a track star in his own right, but to call him the fastest man in NFL history is a bit of a stretch.

I was going off the fact that he holds the record for fastest 40 time in NFL History CCC

His name is GREEN not Greene. Two e's not three.

He also said PROBABLY not for sure that he was or he just outright was...that he probably was.

And he's probably right.

September 2, 2008  11:26 PM ET

Green was pretty fast, but track fast and pads fast are two different things. Green was both.

September 2, 2008  11:31 PM ET

Also, laker's#1, don't forget all the things that Green has done in the community not only WHILE playing football but even AFTER his retirement.

September 3, 2008  12:13 AM ET

Off the subject here but I just read the funniest sports story I have read in awhile.

I know this site isn't very reliable but if this is true its funnier than all hell.

Big Ben those accomplishments should not be forgotten but they have nothing to do with this TD.

Sadder still: Getting a vote from Roy means twenty votes go the other way. That's the new deal. Nothing personal, Darth, but I'm gonna have a buncha guys drop by tomorrow and vote right. I wouldn't want to be throwing down with Roy anymore.

and this is even worse....1 vote by Cassidy is worth 20 going the other way just because? It's just not right.

Dead Horse | 09/03/08, 04:25 AM

And Cassidy isn't even in this TD, just 1 vote....so why ruin this TD by having everyone vote right to cancel out 1 vote?

September 4, 2008  12:07 AM ET

Well I screwed up bad.

September 4, 2008  12:09 AM ET

I'm finnaly winning against you and I misunderstand your 2nd argument, I have to forfeit it to you David

September 4, 2008  12:11 AM ET

I can't believe I screwed up like that
