Has to be Virgil w/ the Million Dollar Belt.

Virgil was Ted Diabase's SHOW-FUR ha and watched out for the Million Dollar Man. They had there rivalry after being so close and Virgil WON the Million Dollar Belt. Virgil was a pretty decent wrestler.

I am going to go with Rick Martel who was a 3 time tag team champ in the WWF.

As a singles wrestler he never quite got the push he deserved and was never given a singles title despite his famous feuds with wrestlers such as Shawn Michaels, Tatanka and Jake Roberts. He was definitely a much better wrestler than Virgil.

Well more to come but will wait until my 2nd and 3rd arguments

"the model"

Martel gets his props. He had more of a singles career then

JIm the Anvil Niedhart
Animal (LOD)
Marty Jannety

Who all were ON GREAT tag teams. The "model" boosted those careers of those wrestlers when starting out. Well maybe not Jake the Snake but definelty Shawn Michaels and Tatanka. Lets face it, Tito Santana was the better of the two in the tag team Strike Force with Rick Martel and Santana. Virgil had a tighter finisher and actually won a belt in the singles ranks. Defeating his boss the Million Dollar Man was HUGE., August '91 at Summer Slam.

Martel NEVER had a singles moment like Virgil. The closes one i can think of a was a blindfold match with Jake Roberts at Wrestle Mania which was NOT HUGE.

Vince McMahon's creative angle on Virgil was down right better than "the models'. I remember when Rick Martel fought Koko B-Ware at Wrestlemania.
Ah, memories! ha

Pro Wrestling Illustrated:
Your boy Martel....PWI ranked him # 48 of the 500 best singles wrestlers during the "PWI Years" in 2003

PWI for Virgil:
NOTHING

I did say underappreciated.

What's Virgil's name? Who? MIKE JONES. yep lol

Ok now I want to start with a quote from you Peachy

"Your boy Martel....PWI ranked him # 48 of the 500 best singles wrestlers during the "PWI Years" in 2003"

Well thank you for helping lead me right in to my 2nd argument. You said underappreciated but you never said by who.

Rick Martel was underappreciated as a singles wrestler by the WWF and they never took full advantage of what they had by giving him a title run as a singles wrestler.

PWI is pretty much THE MAGAZINE when it comes to rating wrestlers. The PWI Years covered from the 70's up to 03 and it covered every wrestling organization there was. So out of the tens maybe even hundreds of thousands of pro wrestlers during that period Martel was considered the 48th best of them all as a singles wrestler.

Here is a guy that even Peachy said helped make Shawn Michaels career as well as guys like Tatanka along with many others. Yet they never thought to give him a belt.

Martel had singles moments how about

double count out vs Michaels at Summerslam 92
blindfold match vs Roberts at WrestleMania 7
match vs Santana at Main Event 4
his King of the Ring, Royal Rumble appearances

running out of space

A double count out at Summer Slam '92 is not IMPRESSIVE.

Virgil finished his boss with the "Million Dollar Dream", a form of the sleeper hold.

IN Virgil's on words....
???Standing on the top turnbuckle at the Garden, it doesn???t get any better,??? said an emotional Jones. ???Holding that Million Dollar Belt up as 20,000 people chanted my name, it was a moment and a feeling I???ll never forget.???

Martel WAS NOT popular as the "model' and i appreciated him being heel but him not winning a singles belt means nothing. Martel was a MID CARDER and NEVER more than that. Virgil hit the highest stage winning his belt from his boss after being his SHOW-FUR for more than 5 years. Virgil wrestled for WWF from '86 to '94 and was a constant showman and is underappreciated no doubt. Ted Diabase was a HUGE singles talent in WWF and Virgil beat him for his OWN gold! Virgil gave us a great heel w/ Ted and great fan favorite as Ted's enemy. "EVERYBODY has a PRICE" but not VIRGIL. ha
Photobucket

Virgil wrestled in the WWF from 1986 to 1994 and all you can come up with is he beat Ted Dibiase for the MIllion Dollar Championship?

What did he do the rest of the time? Absolutely nothing he has no great feuds that you mentioned, he didnt help build or shape anyone's career at least not that you mentioned.

So what have you offered up? He won a belt that was made out of thin air and had no real history. The only reason Million Dollar Man had that belt was because his character had it made since he could not get a real belt. What did Virgil really do for the WWF? From your arguments I would guess nothing at least that is how you make it seem

Now lets look at Rick Martel
3x tag team champion and had many classic tag matches
7 total Royal Rumbles
6 total Wrestle Manias
2 total Summer Slams
5 total Survivor Series
many other Pay Per View appearances
memorable feuds with Jake Roberts, Shawn Michaels, Tatanka, and Tito Santana just to name a few.

He couldve carried a title run but they didnt show him the appreciation he was deserved despite the fact that the WWF/WWE has a history of putting a belt on much lesser talents than Martel

can i be the first one to ask for no more WWE/WWF td's??

September 3, 2008  03:07 AM ET

Well, you can't be the FIRST one to ask for that Wally.

CCC and others have been asking for that for months.

September 3, 2008  03:08 AM ET

Peachy, don't hate on Rick Martel just because he's Canadian.

September 3, 2008  03:19 AM ET

eh?

I'm not. can we say boston crab?

September 3, 2008  03:47 AM ET

One problem with your pick Peach. The million dollar belt wasn't a real belt it isn't recognized and was never recognized by anyone but the million dollar man and virgil as a championship. So you disqualified yourself with your pick based on your rules.

Peachy! Quit. Just quit. Either quit doing these TD's or quit FN.

September 3, 2008  03:56 AM ET

"Ringmaster" ring a bell? Yeah, Stonecold had the Million Dollar Belt to push him to STARDOM. It was significant is kept in the history books. I do get what your saying to an extent though Bill.

Peachy Boo Yah! | 09/03/08, 03:56 AM

CORRECTION: IT was significant and is in the history of titles in WWF. The Million Dollar belt was the COOLEST belt that Vince McMahon has EVER thought of. A close second is the smoking skulls world title that StoneCold made.

September 3, 2008  04:02 AM ET

then the spinner belt

September 3, 2008  04:02 AM ET

John Cena

September 3, 2008  04:17 AM ET

Peachy,
I just bet $50 on an offshore-based internet sports-betting site that YOU own a replica John Cena 'spinner' belt.
I bet another $50 that you wore it outdoors at least a dozen times and that you repeatedly claimed that the belt was 'better than rims'.

They've already depsited my deposit AND my winnings back into my account as we speak.

Actually it was winning the King of the Ring that pushed him to startdom with his Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your a.s.$. that pushed him to stardom. One statement to Jake the Snake that put him over the top. He was horrible as the Ringmaster.

September 3, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Kind of a lame TD. Booker T? You do know it's not real and there is not Santa Clause or Tooth Fairy?

September 3, 2008  10:58 AM ET

No tooth fairy, then who was putting that money under my pillow when I lost teeth?

September 3, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Definately the Iron Sheik.

September 3, 2008  12:03 PM ET

Underappreciated of the 2 virgil i give Martel his props.

The thing I like the most about doing throwdowns with you Peachy is for some reason more people seem to look at your throwdowns.

There is already 8 votes and the throwdown is not even finished yet I have other throwdowns that the voting period is almost over and they have less votes than this throwdown
