Peace Out said 09/03, 10:17 AM
I say NO.
There is only one argument against it, and that argument is simply this. It is illeagal. It is against the rules. That's it.
Well I say first it should be legal. I won't go into how it was made illeagal because of the white man's racism towards the folks with brown skin, and if you don't believe that you better do some research ont he subject. I won't go into the Billions of dollars our government spends on stopping something that is less harmful then cigarettes and alcohol.(two legal activities) I won't go into how the DEA's time would be better served busting meth dealers, or herion dealers. I just won't
I will however talk about how it is not a peformance enhancing substance. I will talk about how it could help players deal with the pain involved with contact sports, and how it could help avoid harder drugs like OC's and demoral, and vicoden, and all those "legal" drugs that players can take following hits and surgeries.
My question is this, if weed were legal, then why shouldn't a player be able to toke on the pipe if he so choose?
Merriman is playing and he did something worse. Let a player play.
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 09/03, 10:23 AM
Well I say first it should be legal.
Not important to this conversation- If you think that Steriods should be legal does that mean that we should all roid up??
We can debate the legality of Mary jane from now until the Mods Fix the site- but it does not matter.
RIGHT NOW- its illegal
and if a player BREAKS THE LAW he OR she should not be allowed to play.
Period Bottom Line.
Peace Out said 09/03, 10:45 AM
Really they should not be allowed to play you say? Then umm how come Mr. Pacman is playing? How come the Bengals had to go get Chris Henry again? How come there are tons of players who have broken the law and are still playing? Riddle me that pimpman?
Sure it is important to the conversastion, and here is why. It is my firm belief that with any topic, be it politics, sports, whatever, people hit a certain tipping point where their beliefs and values on subjects change. When enough people feel the need to change thus tipping the scale over to the other side, things will change. I believe in America we are real close to seeing it legalized. I believe that within the next decade we will see that. It's already "decriminalized" in a ton of States, and law enforcement would rather bust meth heads then pot hedas any day of the week. Prohibition got overturned too.
Say a player is in Amsterdam, or British Columbia, and he decides to puff puff give, it's decriminalized there so why couldn't he?
What if he is a San Diego Charger? It's all but legal there. Shouldn't state law hold some weight against federal law?
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 09/03, 11:06 AM
Then umm how come Mr. Pacman is playing?
I missed that- How did he do last year? How was his stats??
I never said he had to be gone for LIFE.
Say a player is in Amsterdam, or British Columbia, and he decides to puff puff give, it's decriminalized there so why couldn't he?
WONDERFUL POINT
Then he SHOULD be allowed to toke
THERE
in THIS country- in places where it is NOT LEGAL - he should not.
your Prohibition and "its decriminalized everywhere else" is laughable.
Do you know that LESS than 150 years ago you could BUY AND SELL a HUMAN BEING in OVER HALF THE WORLD??
in 1808 Slavery was LEGAL in ALL OVER THE WORLD
(1809 - Austraia becomes the first continent to outlaw it - by order of the British Crown)
LEGALLY I can STILL go buy a HUMAN BEING in South America, Africa and Asia.
Does that make it right?
You do know that what Michal Jackson was accused of doing there are ADS for doing the same thing in Thiland? LEGALLY?
So if its legal there means NOTHING.
Its ILLEGAL HERE
YOU BROKE THE LAW
Bottom Line.
Peace Out said 09/03, 11:17 AM
Comparing smoking a joint to slavery reeks of desperation on your part, talk about drawing comparisions that in no way shape or form resemble each other. Yeah smoking pot=owning slaves you got me there Pimp I might as well forfeit....
Moving on since well that made about as much sense as ROy's blog the other day.
So your saying if a player smokes weed were its legal it is fine? So my next question is what happens when he gets tested? he gets suspended right? Kinda contradictory statement in there.
Stats? He's playing this season, you made it seem as if the league has never let a known felon or durg abuser play again. I am saying they do.
Why not just end this charade? Why have players sit for a substance that's safer then legal products available at any 7-11 today?
I challenge the law itself and say that it should not be illegal, and when it is legalized in the next decade, players will be smoking it. So why don't we skip all the BS in the meantime and let them unwind, they all pop uppers before the games anyways, why not let them unwind over a bong?
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 09/03, 12:18 PM
Again, the challange of the Law has no place here.
Fact of the matter is this the NFL, NBA, MLB and even the MLS can suspend you for ANY REASON they deem viable- and if the players assoc does not have an issue with it
they DO.
ask Pete Rose about the power of the Commish with a willing MLBPA
So your saying if a player smokes weed were its legal it is fine? So my next question is what happens when he gets tested? he gets suspended right? Kinda contradictory statement in there.
Ding! Dang right- If I take a Steriod in Argentina- and then go compete in the Olimpics- What happens?
a lot of HGH is MADE in China! and yet you could not use them there this summer in the games!
Pac-Jones PAID the Price for his deeds- the Commish Giveth, and if Pac Man shoots up another bar in Dallas- the Commish will take again.

I would rather have these guys smoking up than getting drunk. These are aggressive big men, let them mellow out. I know it works for me.

There is so much horse manure in this statement that it's pathetic. What's worse is your are terribly misinformed. But then let me post something that everyone didn't know...
Pot is as addictive if not more than tobacco. It contains many of the same carcinogens as tobacco, but in greater concentration.
So while you're working on that blunt, you're doing your body worse than the pack a day cigarette smoker.
Also, pot is performance enhancing in sports, as it will ruin an athlete's coordination and short term memory.
