On the Site that Shall not be named

They have a Poll, and like Dookie finding Terry Bradshaws Toupee , they get a little Crazy

The Question

Who is the greatest in Steeler history?

THIER Pick?

Terry Bradshaw

I want ONE of the 49.8% (I know some of you visit both sites)
to DEFEND this MISTAKE

My Pick?

Jack Lambert (heck I might do 5 of these- I don;t know If Bradshaw is top 5 Steeler

I love these TD's!! Hopefully we don't get a flare up of FN TD Syphilis and we both get votes based on arguement.

I won't waste any time arguing stats. I think it is pointless to compare offensive and defensive players stats (besides D stats weren't even kept then)

Lambert was a GREAT LB in his own right and more that earned his yellow jacket, but you can't overlook the fact that he had 3 other hall of famers on that D helping him out.

I'm not sure why you picked Lambert for this TD, he wasn't even the best defensive player in Steelers history. The only number ever retired by the Steelers officialy (Greenes isn't retired but hasn't been used) is Ernie Stautner's #70. The Steel Curtain was argueably the best assembly of a front seven that has ever been put together. Great players make great players better.

Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast on the other side of the ball. He had a good, not great O-line, an exceptional RB and good, not great receivers. Bradshaw called his own plays and unlike Manning, did so selflessly. He was a big armed QB and yet he only threw for over 300yds only 7 times.

Damn!!! Ran out of room!!!

WHOA!!!

The Steelers in the 70s Stunk?

Do they know?

From 1972-1979

the Steeler Offense went

5,4,6,5,5,7,5,1

in points scored.

Please make sure you contact the following players from that Era and inform them they stunk.

Mike Webster 9-time Pro Bowler & 5-time All-Pro HOF
Franco Harris 9-time Pro Bowler & 1-time All-Pro HOF
Lynn Swann 3-time Pro Bowler & 1-time first-team All-Pro HOF
John Stallworth 4-time Pro Bowler & 1-time All-Pro Hof
Louis Lipps 2-time Pro Bowler
Earnest Jackson 2-time Pro Bowler

sO lets see- we have a HOF QB RB and 2 HOF WR backed up at times by Muliple ProBowler WR and RB

all behind a line with one of the best Centers in History.

THink Peyton or Brady would like to be so "handcuffed" with such a poor supporting staff?

He was a big armed QB and yet he only threw for over 300yds only 7 times

Thanks for the stat- helps my case out

Let me also toss in 212 TD to 210 Ints throwing rate-

or his 84 fumbles in only 168 games

Meaning every game you are going to see 2 turnovers from the QB position

Seems to me he called the WRONG plays

There you go again pimp, making arguement where non exists.

Way to grasp at straws there. Where did I say that the 70's Steelers stunk?!? I didn't say anything that could even be mistaken as saying that the 70's Steelers stunk. I didn't say that Bradshaw was handcuffed by his supporting cast either.

"Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast" AS GOOD!!!!! being the key words there... here, I will help you to translate

Websters Dictionary

as; adverb- to the same degree or amount

good; adjective- suitable

I forgot about Webster, which admittedly was stupid, but even with him the talent level on the Offense during the 70's didn't even come close to the D.

"Louis Lipps 2-time Pro Bowler"
"Earnest Jackson 2-time Pro Bowler"

LMFAO.... Yeah, in '84 '85 and '86... How dare I not acknowledge their contributions to the 70's Steelers!!!

As far as Stallworth and Swan go L.C. Greenwood (not to mention many other MUCH more deserving receivers) should have seen the Hall LONG before there names ever touched a ballot

"From 1972-1979

the Steeler Offense went

5,4,6,5,5,7,5,1"

Thanks for your stats... helps me make MY case

Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast on the other side of the ball. He had a good, not great O-line, an exceptional RB and good, not great receivers

Your own words-

I mistook "Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast on the other side of the ball" as meaning that they did not have as much talent on O as on the D- witch was it?

I stated they were pro-bowl players- witch they were- and after the THREE HALL OF FAMERS LEFT - they rose from the bench to become mulitple Pro bowlers

Lets look at the Lambert D

2,8,2,2,2,1,17,1,5, - outside of one WAY off year- a top 2 D 6 of 9 years- little better on that scope?

But lets get back to Bradshaw-

212 TDs and 210 INTs- thats a LOT of Picks there 86 Fumbles in 168 games.

Pretty good to have a fumble every other game from your QB- who is also tossing a pick MORE than every other game

People roast Brett for tossing too many Picks
Brett threw 442 Tds and 288 picks- still over a pick a game but he threw over 160 more TDs than INTS

Bradshaw threw TWO

Lambert is one of the best Defensive players of all time- not just his position- Can Terry Say the same?

"I mistook "Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast on the other side of the ball" as meaning that they did not have as much talent on O as on the D- witch was it?"

Correct, I was saying the O didn't have as much talent as the D.

Thanks for the TD, like I said I love these ones

"Bradshaw didn't have as good a supporting cast on the other side of the ball. He had a good, not great O-line, an exceptional RB and good, not great receivers."

Survey said.....XXX Buzzz! Am I missing something or are these "not great receivers" you speak of in the hall of fame? Not just one, but TWO! Bradshaw had plenty of help.

But then I don't buy the supporting cast argument most of the time. If a player can distinguish themselves from among other great teammates, then he's not great *because* of the supporting cast. They made their own chops.

September 3, 2008  02:32 PM ET

Terry had a great supporting cast that was juiced up and ready to hurt people. Jack Lambert is the answer here. Lets see the arguments though.

September 3, 2008  02:55 PM ET

I'm sorry Bear but those "two hall of fame receivers" weren't voted in until 16 and 21 years after they were done playing and got those votes only because of the # of SB rings they have.

September 3, 2008  04:14 PM ET

Terry's legacy couldn't fill the gap in Lambert's teeth. Leaning left.

ben is going to bash me for this as well, but thees another roy shill account, watch how much info he has on the steelers...lol

(Because, only Sammy Baugh's #33 is OFFICIALLY retired by the Skins. I know, big fricking whoop. Bite me.)
