Phillip Rivers will throw 30 TD passes. No bringing up attitude and trying to go for a cheap win, cheaper.

We all know not many people like Rivers. But I swear if you bring up his attitude I will FM everyone and tell them you are a homosexual and enjoy having inter species relations with Orangutans hung like horses.

Rivers has a great o-line blocking for him. McNeil is an animal he is very athletic despite his size and he will plow through you, Dielman is what you call a "dirty" player who can get away with it, Hardwick is the next Tom Nalen, Goff provides leadership, and Clary is there not to F up. Top 5 group in the league, will give Rivers good protection.

The Receiving core is better than people think. Chambers has averaged 16.3 YPC since coming to the Chargers, Vincent Jackson has averaged 16 YPC in his career, and had a monster play-offs gathering 300 yards on 18 catches, Antonio Gates has the most touchdowns for a TE since coming into the league. Good targets for Rivers to throw to.

The Run game will help keep the pressure off. LDT looking for his 3rd straight rushing title, Jacob Hester can do it all good for short yardage, and Sproles is really fast and will provide a home run threat.

Will talk about coaching mind set among other factors next.

Who is their head coach/offensive mastermind, again? It's still Norv, right? The same Norv Turner who Troy Aikman openly credits his HOF career to

Guess how many times Troy threw 30+ TD's? Nada. Never even came close, actually, with his career high being 23 and the only season he ever cracked 20. And that's with a HOF receiver by his side for most of his career.

And Phillip Rivers is no Troy Aikman.

The Chargers run the same offense the Cowboys of the early-mid 90's ran. It revolves around a great running game, not a high powered passing game. This is Norv Turner we are talking about, not Mike Martz or Don Coryell.

3 words for ya...reconstructive knee surgery.

Until the pads are on and the games are for real, nobody really knows how healthy that knee even is, or how it will hold up. And let's face it, he wasn't exactly Peyton Manning BEFORE he hurt the knee. Actually, much closer to Eli Manning.

So...we have a guy who has been decent but not great in his first four seasons, with a career high of 22 TD passes in a season, and coming off of major reconstructive knee surgery and he's suddenly going to be a 30+ TD passing stud in an offense with LDT snagging TD's? Not likely.

Your argument is very odd.

Aikman's career average in pass attempts is 392, compared to Rivers which is 460. Maybe Rivers will have more of a chance because he throws 68 more balls a season?

And it's just flat out stupid to say that Rivers won't throw 30 TD passes because someone who wasn't even playing anymore when Rivers was drafted didn't.

Rivers played the entire season with that injury, it just got worse as the season wore on. Rivers has had the entire off season to recover and has been cleared by doctors and has looked good in pre-season.

Norv wants to throw more, LDT is almost 30 and has never had less than 300 carries, Norv wants to keep him fresh. Rivers will likely have 500 attempts. If you want to see an example of how the Chargers will play on offense look at the play-offs last year. Norv is smart enough to know not to mess with success, let's look at that post-season.

Rivers lead all of the play-offs with big plays, more 20+ yard passes than anyone with 14.

Lead all QB's in yards an attempt.

Take out the game he played after knee surgery against the then undefeated Pats and he had a QB rating over 100.

3 times Aikman surpassed that 460 attempt mark you seem to think has a bearing on something. Including a high of 518. It's not the number of pass attempts, it the way the offense is designed. Mike Irvin still jokes with Emmitt Smith about all the catches he made deep in the red zone only to have Smith get the TD.

There is one running back in the history of the game who scores TD's at a higher rate than Emmitt did. He happens to play in San Diego right now.

Same offense.

4 of Rivers top 5 pass attempt games last year came in losses when they were playing catchup. His passer rating in all but one of them was abysmal. San Diego does NOT do well when relying on the arm of Philip Rivers to win the game.

And you think Turner wants to pass MORE? Why on earth would he? It goes against everything he's done in the past and the results show that passing MORE did not produce desired results, last year.

Something else to keep in mind. LDT can throw the ball too...averaging better than 2 TD passes per year over the last 5 seasons. That's two Rivers doesn't get to throw

NO clue what you are talking about with his passer rating sans the Pats game. It was only 82.4 for the season last year

Dunno why you were worried about someone bringing up his attitude. Just because he's a whiny biotch doesn't mean anything. I mean, Donovan McNabb threw 30 one season...;-)

September 7, 2008  02:16 AM ET

And I just lost the vote of every Philly fan with that comment. ;-)

September 7, 2008  02:35 AM ET

Donovan McNabb is greater than Jesus Christ. You watch your tongue!

September 7, 2008  02:38 AM ET

Not funny, not even close to funny, and upon judgement day I find it hard to believe God finds it funny.

A cheap laugh just isnt worth it.

Alright fellas, let's not start condemning each other to eternal damnation here, ok? ;-)

Jesus was Gay. How does that strike you EFB?

September 7, 2008  03:00 AM ET

Pitt. Stop!

September 7, 2008  03:02 AM ET

We're talking about Jesus Quintana, right? John Turturro's character from The Big Lebowski.

Jesus isn't gay, he has a wife. He showed me pictures while he was mowing my lawn.

September 7, 2008  03:03 AM ET

Did you see the way that guy bowled? What a quear.

September 7, 2008  03:03 AM ET

Did you think I was talking about Jesus Christ?

Easy mistake. I should have been more specific.

Looks like CCC has stumbled into another topic for the 'Politically Incorrect' FanNation blog.

There are many who believe in judgement day and live their lives accordingly. And there are times in everyone's life when they question religion because of the happenings around them. Regardless, religious beliefs have no place on this site. It's the start of football season for goodness sake!

And now, back to the TD.

September 7, 2008  03:07 AM ET

"Did you think I was talking about Jesus Christ?"

"Donovan McNabb is greater than Jesus Christ."

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear you were.

C'mon man. There are some things you just don't screw with a guy over. His religious beliefs are one of them. I pick on EF all the time, but even to me that crosses a line that goes beyond just ribbing someone.

Lol. That blog is gonna be the end of me on Fan Nation...It's almost certain I'm gonna piss off every single person who holds a FN account with that thing at one time or another. ;-)
