have to support my team!

They were picked by Sports Illustrated to be 2-14!

1st game:

-330 yards total rushing

-newly acquired Michael Turner set a franchise best in rushing for the game

-Matt Ryan was 9-13 WITH NO INT"S, not to mention scored a td on his very first play EVER in the NFL

ALL i'm saying is that the Falcons will win more than last season and possible be as high as 7-9 by the end of this season

With all this said, it's only been one game and we played the LIONS but the Falcon's have SERIOUS promise.

I have a couple problems with your TD

First off, in order for them to do better than people expect. That means winning three games. I can see them winning 3 games, no problem. But that's not why I accepted the TD

You said it yourself: "With all this said, it's only been one game and we played the LIONS". This is WAY too early to determine if the Falcons go 7-9. Regardless of how well he played, Matt Ryan is still a rookie, and it will take time for him to make this team relevant again. Also, the Lions defense has more holes the swiss cheese, so throwing 0 INTs isnt a huge accomplishment

The Lions defense played a bigger role in winning this game for Atlanta than anyone in the ATL offense did. First of all, Ryan had 13 attempts the whole game. Out of 42 offensive plays he only threw the ball 33% of the time. When you don't throw the ball, it becomes a lot harder to thrown an interception. Also, Turner carrying the ball so much (22 carries) helped him run for so many yards, and Ryan not have to throw it as much. Turner took off much of the slack, but the fact of the matter is that it was Detroit. We'll have to wait until they play a better team to know for sure.

GREAT SUMMARY THERE!

Matt Ryan is a very GOOD QB.

He has some weapons:

Turner- will help him balance the offense against ANY team

Roddy White- is a deep threat and caught 80 something receptions last year after the year before only having 30. qb last year was Joey Harrington

Falcon's D- they have John Abraham, Keith Brooking, Michael Boley

Matt Ryan is a rookie your right. There is a reason he was picked 3rd overall. He can go outside the pocket and has great field smarts and arm as well.

Matt Ryan will have some bumps and bruises but TURNER is the key to this team. If Turner shows out like he did today they will not have so much pressure on Ryan.

The Falcons have NOTHING to lose this season. EVerybody has them out of any playoff hunt. If Ryan can grow from this game which he will then WATCH OUT.

The Falcon's added the old Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Coordinator which will help as WELL.

Listen 9 for 13 and 1 td in your 1st game as QB against ANY team is VERY GOOD. The Falcons will prove people wrong and already did because they were underdogs at home to the LIONS.

The Falcons in my opinion wil win 5 to 6 but if they play like today will get 7

i understand that the falcons had a good game today, but i dont think you understand that it isnt a good showing of the teams real capabilities. If they beat, say Dallas, it would be a different story. Its like saying the Royals beat their AAA afiliate and ther automatically contenders

Im not knockin on Ryan, Turner, or any other Falcon. All im sayin is, I feel like it is too early to say that the Falcons are gonna sneak up on people. The Pats were supposed to be SB favorites, but when Brady went down, ther automatically out of the picture. The same could happen to ATL. If any of the players u listed get hurt, it makes it much more difficullt. "TURNER is the key to this team". If he gets hurt, the other team can blitz Ryan as they please, or drop back in coverage and make him beat them with 30 passes per game. If Ryan gets hurt, other teams stack the box against Turner, and they have no running game. Week 1 is not a very good indicator of a teams success throughout the season.
Is Carolina a Superbowl favorite cuz they beat SD? By your standards they are. If all the players keep up there stats, then sure!

Not to mention that this TD is like saying Micheal Jordan can dunk

Whoa Dude! The Falcons have a nice squad. Is it the nicest in their division? HeL* NAH! The Falcons are underappreciated to begin with but Matt Ryan WILL NOT BE A BUST, Michael Turner is finally getting his carries, and are Coach is from a SOLID team in the Cardiac Cats. The Falcons will only improve. Sure, the Falcons can't beat any elite teams but that have the power to upset, maybe not the Cowboys or anything but they could pul a win against Tampa or New Orleans.

It's way too early but Arthur Blank deserves a high five because last year we WERE DISGUSTING! thanks for your time and just wanted some FALCON LUV

Ok, I guess i misinterpreted the TD.

I thought that you were trying to prove that the Falcons were going to win 3 games this year. I was trying to prove that your argument wasnt worth arguing. Like i said, saying that a team wins 3 games is like saying, say, Albert Pujols will hit a HR in a given season.

Regardless, Falcon love, as much as I love it, should proly hapen on blogs, not TDs. All I'm sayin is its too early to declare the Falcon's rebuilding process a success and name Art Blank new commish in waiting.

"I think I smell culpepepper"

Think again. They are going to sign Simms tomorrow as long as he passes the physical.

It was the Lions. Nuff said. Lets see what superman gets for rushing yardage next week against Tampa.

i agree the falcons have already done better than most thought they would... if they win 5 games this year it would be amazing

September 8, 2008  04:40 PM ET

I don't understand why everyone agrees that the falcons will do better than expected but.... the guy is losing?

September 8, 2008  05:53 PM ET

yea i'll have to see it to believe it. Since Vick went to jail the falcons plummeted down hill. BUT they are showing some positive signs. But then again the Lions aren't that hard to beat.

But did yall's see tyeh Chargers lose to the Panthers? I thought it was funny. And before anyone tries to attack my Browns let me do it for you.
They were VERY SLOPPY. Hopefully they improve because the next 3 games are against teams in their division.
