Favorite to win award: LeBron James... Cleveland did almost nothing to to get him help again, so his stats will be eye-popping again. Plus in the east the Cavs should win 55 to 60 games and be a top 2 seed.
Darkhorse to win award: Elton Brand... If Brand stays healthy in the east and if Andre Miller can at least match his performance from last year, Brand could go 25ppg 12rpg and the 76ers could end up with at least home-court advantage in the first round.

"Cleveland did almost nothing to get him help"
How, i reapeat how does giving Lebron no help, improve his numbers at all? All it does is it gives him fewer options to distrat defenders with, or dish off ASSISTS to, a very important category in the MVP race. Also, because they did not give him any help, the team will struggle to win as much as say, Kobe's Lakers will. That will hurt his chances. Finally, how do you expect the Cavs to jump from 45 wins, to 55-60 wins? They added nobody as you pointed out. There is no way they improve by 10 games, even in the East.
Anyways, my favorite is: Kobe Bryant
It has to be him, he is the reigning MVP. Also, he plays on a much better team that is once again a very possible title contender. Because he plays for a better team, his teams record, will help his chances. Also, it will give him an advantage in the assists category over Lebron.
Darkhorse: Chris Bosh. With the addition of Jermaine O'neal to his team, the Raptors should once again improve this year. This will take a lot of stress off of Bosh down low in the post, and will likely allow him to play a more comfortable game that should work to his advantage.
More to come.

"Almost nothing"... Adding Moe Williams will be big for Lebron and the Cavs, and yes they can win at least 55 games this year. More assist for Kobe? LeBron averaged 7.2 assist per game last year. I would be surprised if Kobe passes the ball 7 times a game, let alone 7 assists a game. Did you forget that Kobe was demanding a trade last year because he thought his team sucked? He is not half the leader the LeBron is, and that should be considered in voting for MVP....
As for Chris Bosh, he will learn what us Pacers fans learned about Jermaine O'neal that last few years...He is SOFT and will only play half the season at most. He fell in love with his mid-range jumper(which isn't that good) and refused to play in the paint. Raptors will be worse this year because of O'neal!!!!!

Wow, I have never seen this before in a TD. I quote something that you say, and destroy it. Than, you quote the quote that I have in my argument and try to argue against it. I hope you know, that the first half of your first paragraph was arguing against yourself, as it was you who said that the Cavs did almost nothing to help James and that that would some how help his stats. Just flat out stupidity dispalyed on your part.
Anyways, I absolutely know that Kobe was demanding a trade in the earlier part of last season. However, you must be living under a rock, because after that issue, he found a completely knew asset to his game. And that, was the ability to lead. He absolutely became a leader after that debacle, something you neglect to believe for some reason.
You say Kobe does not pass the ball seven times a game? Well, last season he had 5.4 assists a game last year, .8 more assists than his career average. I know that number is not impressive, however he is obviously improving in that regard.
The addition of O'neal will spread defenses thin, and will leave Bosh open to pass, score, rebound. Virtually anything he wants to do. O'neal, will only help Bosh's cause.
cjhurst said 10/13, 12:38 AM
Stupidity? The fact the you believe Kobe deserved the MVP last year after that "debacle" is pure stupidity. Kobe's assists didn't improve because he became more of a team player or "leader", it was because they added Pau Gasol. There is a lesson to be learned I guess, all the spoiled superstars out there keep up your whining and empty threats and you will eventually get what you want. A leader keeps his mouth shut, goes out and does his job with what he has around him. That's LeBron, who despite being on a team with less talent still puts up better numbers than Kobe.
Offensively Minded said 10/13, 12:50 AM
Of course I believe Kobe deserved the MVP last year. I hate him, but he lead the Lakers to the NBA Finals. Also, he lead his team to a Pacific Division Title (the toughest division in basketball), and a number 1 playoff seed in the rugged West.
The addition of Gasol to this team was a big part of there Title appearance. However, if you would even try to deny that Kobe was the leader, and main reason they made it that far, you'd be crazy.
I still, cannot believe you are winning this TD when you contradicted yourself in your arguments. Especially since you literrally put quotations around something that YOU said and started to argue against yourself.
Because you did not even make an attempt at arguing over Bosh and Brand in your final argument, I will assume that is because you know I am right. Bosh is a much more likely darkhorse than Brand because Bosh has been given some other talent on his team. This will allow him to destroy defenders, as they will have to worry about more than just him for a change.

you are taking this really personal... you must be short? anyway your last argument about Bosh was crap, you didn't even try to dispute what I said about O'Neal... You don't have a prayer in winning this TD
