the tigers just have a great offense with sheffield and maggilo anchoring it, not to mention guillen, granderson, and polanco, they also have 3 solid starters in verlander, bonderman, and kenny rogers. and the padres have the best pitching combo in baseball with peavy and young, not to mention the all-time saves leader in trevor hoffman, their offense isn't that good but it's enough with adrian gonzalaez and the addition of micheal barrett

sorry twinsfan... i already sent u a throwdown about the world series... lol... but ur gonna do my throwdown... and i say how dare u!!!! the tigers do have bonderman... and all those hot shots... but do u really think its enough to take down the other american league contenders... i mean c;mon... theres too much out there for the tigers to make it that far... and as for the padres i agree with u, lol... but i have to disagree on ur matchup of the tigers and padres, cuz it aint gonna happen.

the tigers offense is first in runs(512), batting average(.290), slugging(.473), on-base plus slugging(.825) in the al
the padres pitching is first in ERA(3.09), OPS(.651). WHIP(1.19)and are 3rd in opponents batting average(.242)
thats dominance

i never said the padres wont make it. but i do disagree on your dicision to say the tigers will go to the world series for a second time in a row. but you know its only been half way through the season... they may be doing great with offence... but admit... the pitching isnt as great as it should be... bonderman is not doing near as good as he should be doing... he has expectations to live up to... and without good pitching... the other team will over-score the tigers... because of their pitching. their offense is good but the other pitchers are better and will give up less hits

in the playoffs, if the padres went to a three man rotation with peavy(2.19 ERA), young(2.00 ERA), and let's say greg maddux as a #3 guy, they would be unstoppable
the tigers have 5 starters that are batting at least .300 and 5 quality pitchers in bonderman, verlander, rogers, nate robertson, and andrew miller

AGAIN... I SAID THE PADRES AND I DONT DISAGREE WITHT THAT!!!!

but the tigerscant come up with it... they will crack up towards the end and start getting LUCKY like they did last year... u cant say it wasnt luck... cuz everyone knows it...its not the tigers... no matter what u think... the season is yetto be over too... wo we will see how far they fall behind... all the pitchers for the tigers are not doing as good as they should... an you all know it... their pitching is gonna cost them something big

"Do you really think its enough to take down the other american league contenders." Do you remember last year? O ya the tigers made it to the World Series. Last year they didnt have Sheffield or Andrew Miller. Why do you think the Tigers dont have enough? They have more weapons than anyone in the AL.

GO TIGERS

July 11, 2007  10:46 PM ET

Tigers have a great offense and have a shot of going back to the world series. But I dont think the Padres have the offense and pitching to get there.

July 11, 2007  11:25 PM ET

the tigers may have gotten there last year but there is no doubt in my mind let the red sox as of right now are the favorite in the AL i think it will come down to the tigers and the sox and of course holding true to my team we will win it all

July 12, 2007  12:31 AM ET

The BoSox have, like, 80 something more years before they can win it all again :-)

jk...

Tigers will have trouble wit the angels and indians while padres have no offense and the pitching is good but they can't carry them past the mets.

How can you say Bonderman isnt pitching good he is 9-1 and has only recorded 1 loss in his last 19 starts!!! The Tigers def. have a chance at going to the World Series again.

The only thing we have problems with is our BP not our Starters. And when Zumaya comes back in Aug. and with the trades we have made and will make, we will repeat!!!
