the addition of ryan smith and scott hannan should easily boost a team that missed the playoffs by one point into the playoffs next season
they went 14-2-2 in their final 18 games last season
paul stastny emerged as a great player
joe sakic scored 100 points too last season and he doesn't look like he is slowing down

The Avalanche are in the Northwestern division, the toughest in Hockey. They have the Canucks, Wild, Oilers, and Flames to deal with, 8 times! They need to win at least half of these games to have a chance. As well, they have a weakness at Golaie. Budaj and Thedore are the weakest goaltending pair in the division.
Shortstop said 07/13, 10:17 PM
i agree with u, theodore is bad, budaj, not so much
he caught fire later on in the year especially in march when he was named the nhl's first star of the month, he had a 10-0-2 record, 2.24goals-against-average, and .910 save percentage
did you say they had the oilers to deal with, they were 32-43-7 last season
and calgary isn't that much better, they only had one more point and haven't made big moves this season like the avs

The Flames can never be counted out because of Iginla. And don't try and just use his March stats. For the season he had a GAA of 2.68 (19th in the league), and a .905 sv percentage (27th in the league.)
Shortstop said 07/13, 11:39 PM
sakic is way better than iginla, stastny had like a 20 game point streak last season, liles is a good scoring d, milan hedjuk finished the season stron reminding us hes good enough for a 50 goal seaon again, ryan smyth was one of the best free agent pick ups this off season, hannan should bring help to not only his fellow defenders, but budaj as well by allowing less shots
and i heard they might sign forsberg too, that might bring the avs not only to the playoffs, but to the syanley cup as well

so happy when Montreal unloaded him, Aebischer is no better, but good things to come with Carey Price in the mix.

twinsfan19, im voting for you because a) i like your arguement, b) the avalanche did finish the season well. c) the have good players and a lot of potential. d) i think they can compete in their division if they get off to a better start therefore meaning they wont need a perfect finish at season's end. and e) because im not a fan of Hockeyfan10, i mean he tried to say that the CFL is better than the NFL.

The reason women love him and Habs fans hate him: It's easy to score with Theodore!
