I'm taking this as much because I'm sick of seeing this TD as because I'm a Yankees fan.

It's really too early to call this, as there are around 50 games left in the season. Remember when the Yankees were around 14+ games back in the division? Well, now they're 6 games back, and still hot. They've won 8 of their last 10, and have been hot since a series or two before the AS break.

And here are how both teams fare in the postseason career-wise:

Yankees---
-Wang: 1-1, 2.70 ERA (13.1 IP)
-Pettitte: 14-9, 4.08 ERA (212 IP)
-Mussina: 7-8, 3.40 ERA (135 IP)
-Clemens: 12-8, 3.66 ERA (196.2 IP)
-Hughes: No prior postseason appearance.

Red Sox---
-Wakefield: 5-5, 6.12 ERA (64.2 IP)
-Beckett: 2-2, 2.11 ERA (42.2 IP)
-Schilling: 8-2, 2.06 ERA (109.2 IP)
-Matsuzaka: No prior postseason appearance.
-Lester: No prior postseason appearance.

So, the Yankees have 4 good-to-very good pitchers in the postseason, and 1 unproven.

Red Sox have 2 very good, 1 terrible, and 2 unproven.

I'd personally take the Yankees among those numbers.

The wankees are playing teams that they are suppose to beat there is a reason why they have a $200 million dollar payroll spank the chumps and lose to the champs. They suck against teams that are above 500 check the stats mr. wankeeslifer they are going to make there runs from time to time in the end the lack of pitching is going to bite them where the sun never shines. PS i can't believe they gave up on igawa already!!!

Wave around the "$200 Million payroll", sure....but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about actual play, and the Yankees are doing just fine with that. So what's your point?

PS. If you actually watched a Yankees game, you'd see how bad Igawa was doing....but we still have him in the minors, it's not like we've given up on him.

Fabulous argument.. >.<

with no argument by DIABLO and the very good argument by Yankeeslifer, he gets my vote.

I wouldn't call Wang proven. 2 Postseason starts doesn't make you very good in the postseason.

Clemens doesn't perform as well in the postseason as he does in the regular season. Remember Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS? He got pulled after the first 3 innings after allowing 4 runs.

That said, yankeeslifer put up an excellent argument. Beckett and Schilling are great in the playoffs, but the Yankees have great postseason pitchers too. Daisuke will be the key in the playoffs, his performance will affect a lot of series.

Don't forget Mo Rivera in the postseason.

Diablo, I notice the intelligence of your voters. Astounding.

And he was able to deduce the better argument without reading my argument? Wow! Someone's gotta teach me to do that!
