i'll take albert, he's a power hitter that hits for average, strikes out seldom, and takes a lot of walks
he's not only dominant on the offensive side of baseball, but the defensive side as well
oh and he has a world series championship on his resume

OK I'll give it a go...

Hanley Ramirez has a better batting average while hitting just 6 home runs less than Pujols and Hanley has more xtra base hits, 20 more runs, and he can steal bases. He has 39 SB's, Pujols could never give you that.

Hanley gives you almost the same power numbers, better average, and he can steal bases. He is a much bigger overall threat.

pujols is in the prime of his career, hanley ramirez is still young, so i would want albert now, hanley in like 5 years
pujols has been on a tear as of late too, 4 consecutive games with a homerun

Hanley Ramirez gives you practically the same amount of power as Pujols, plus the average is better and he can steal bases. He also gives you more xtra base hits which means more runs. Hanley all around has more to offer.

pujols is having an off year for him and he still has more homers than hanley, so i dont think the amount of power is even close
pujols has a higher career batting average than hanley too
sure hanley scores a lot of runs, but pujols drives in a lot of runs which is just as important
albert may not steal much bases but he does a lot of everything else

OK lets look at how each player does his job:

Alberts job as a cleanup hitter is to hit homers and drive in runs. Right now he has 83 RBI's which ranks 19th in the MLB and 30 homers which ranks 5th.

Hanley's job is to advance to scoring position and score runs. To assess his productivity lets look at his ranks in xtra base hits, steals, and runs.
Xtra Base hits- 9th
Steals- 4th
Runs- 3rd

As you can see Hanley gets the job done better than Pujols.

Hanley in the past, Hanley now, Hanley in the future. It's just Hanley all the time baby!

So, you like SS who have no idea what to do with that thing on their left hand? You know, what most of us right handers call a glove? He's nowhere near Pujols in anyway, shape, or form...offensively or in fielding his position...he is having a great season...when he avaerges over .330, over 40 HRs and over 120 RBIs a season for 7 seasons, we can come back to this question...

Man, some people are just totally oblivious to how great Pujols is...

.331, 41HRs, 124 RBIs averages coming into this season, only struck out more than 70 time onces in his career...his first season...had 1 more strikeout than home run last year! That's amazing for a power hitter, or any hitter for that matter. He's had these averages while having to play 3 different positions full time already...and, BTW, he owns a gold glove...

Hanley is gonna be a wicked cool SS for years to come. You cant really compare careers, since one is so young, but Hanley is having a GREAT year.

is this even a question?

the Hanley guy makes a good argument though, so even though i disagee for now, he gets my vote

"Man, some people are just totally oblivious to how great Pujols is..."

Preach on, brutha! It's Pujols' award to win. Ramirez is a fine player, and blah blah blah...he's not Pujols. There's still a lot of season to go, and for Pujols' standards, he has nowhere to go but up right now. Ramirez, you're just waiting for the other shoe to fall.
