The Padres arer currently tied with the d-backs but they will win because of their excellent starting rotation and bullpen. Jake Peavy , the most likely Cy Young, has a 2.12 ERA ... a 1.05 whip... and 197 K's...They also have veteran Greg Maddux who has been through playoffs many times in his career... and is one of the best defensive pitchers with many golden gloves.. This season... the Padres bullpen has been lights out!!.. With Health Bell... Line Brink... Kevin Cameron.... and the all-time leader in save trevor hoffman, you cant go wrong. The D-backs have lost their only experienced veteran randy jouhnson due to injury... Also, the D-bakcs jus dnt have the hitting to win set aside from eric byrnes...

Okay, well I will agree that the Padres are more experienced, but they are by no means better than the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks have a much batter offence than the Padres lackluster lineup. The Padres have a tougher schedule. The Padres end off their season playing 20 back to back games with no breaks, witha half of those games on the road. Brandon Webb is just as likely the Cy Young Winner as Jake Peavy, and Chris Young has been struggling as of late. Also, Jose Valverde leads the league in saves, and only .1 separates these two closer???s ERA. The Diamondbacks DO have veteran leadership in Livan Hernandez, who was the ace of the 1997 Marlins championship team. The difference between these two team though, is the Diamondbacks ability to win the big, close games. The Diamondbacks can play small-ball with their excellent speed, whereas the Padres cant. The Padres have to rely on a non-power, slow offence. And by the way, you guys traded Linebrink to the Brewers, so I don???t see how he can still help the Padres.

Like closers even matter, at most they will cost you 3-4 games a year tat you can still get back, Linebrink wil always be there in spirtit and thats why. Jacob peavy has had back to back to back 11 K games can bradon webb say that? I didnt think so, burn.

Brandon Webb had back to back to back complete game shutouts. Infact, he had 42 straight scoreless innings. Can Peavy say that? Closers make or break a team. If a game misses out on their division by 3 or 4 games, how many are accounted to blown saves? A blown save may not seem like a lot of losses, but they can really add up.

yes. Peavy can say that.. unlike Jamarcuss Russel... did you know that , A COW GOES MOO?

No, actually Peavy cannot say that he threw 42 scoreless innings in a row. Especailly since he hasnt thrown a CG or shutout this year.
