The AL dominates baseball, there is not argument. The closest thing the NL has to an AL team is the Mets, and thats because Willie Randolph is the manager. AL teams, for the most part are built around power, and then pitching. Look at the Interleague stats the last few years, not to mention the AL domination in the World Series lately. Yes, the Cardinals won last year, but if the Tigers didnt serve it up to them with a pickle and fries, it would have been yet another AL victory. I will put ANY 5 AL players against ANY 5 NL players for argument......bring it.

That might be the case in some years when the Yankees and Red Sox are both at their best but I just don't think that's the case this year. I mean the Brewers of the NL are arguably the best team in baseball (right now). And I mean, really the AL has only "dominated" 2 out of the last 7 world series so I don't know where you came to that conclusion. Not to mention the fact that the NL plays REAL baseball with the pitchers having to hit as well. You say put any 5 AL players against any 5 NL players? How about Chase Utley, the best 2B in the MLB, Jose Reyes, the best SS in the MLB (arguably), Jake Peavy, the best pitcher in the majors right now, Russell Martin, the best all-around catchers, oh yeah and a guy named PUJOLS.

OK, fair enough, Ill take A-Rod (best 3B), Papi , Vernon Wells, Grady Sizemore(best outfielder in MLB) and for a pitcher.........lets see.........hmmm....how about the best pitcher on the planet? JOHANN SANTANA?! Maybe Josh Beckett? Roy Halladay? C'mon man!

As for the Brewers, how did it work out for them this weekend? Yeah, they won one, but got pasted Sunday with thier 2nd best pitcher! (Capuano)

What are you telling me to come on for?? Although Big Papi is great, he is just a DH. As much as I love Sizemore, he's hitting .239 and that aint cutting it. He's not the best outfielder right now. Peavy is doing a lot better than Johan. Just look at the stats, they don't lie. As for the other guys you posted, their good players but I could post a million good players from the NL if I wanted too. Both leagues are gonna have some great players and we could go back and forth forever. Also, I said the NL plays REAL baseball because they don???t use a DH. Are you going to defend that or what?

I cant defend it because I didnt make the rules, Im not a huge fan, but thats the breaks. Look at Grady's total bases.....and its too early to call it for this season. lets just go with the last 5 seasons......but you do have to agree, this is a good argument.

You can't defend it because its stupid to have a DH. The pitcher should have to hit. Anyways Grady's total bases are fine and dandy, but the kid is in a major slump so I don't know why you used him as an example. I have nothing else to say as you did not make any further arguments for me to rebut.

At least you have taste in college football........

May 14, 2007  02:36 PM ET

the METS????? they are in 2nd place in thier own divison, and haven't won a world series since the 80's. Try the Brewers who have the best record in baseball. The Braves, who other than a rough stretch last year dominate the NL East, the Marlins who have more rings in the last 15 years than the Red Sox. Plus the Cards who are off to a rough start, but did win it all just last year.
1.) Albert Pujols
2.) Carlos Beltran
3.) Andruw Jones
4.) Ryan Howard
5.) David Wright

May 14, 2007  02:39 PM ET

I didn't name Howard or Wright because their off to slow starts

May 14, 2007  02:40 PM ET

pitchers
1) Peavy
2) Hudson
3) Zito
4) Penny
5) Smoltz

also take a look at the ERA leaders 4 out of the top 5 are from the NL

May 14, 2007  02:41 PM ET

sizemore?????????? he leads the MLB in strikeouts, and he isn't a pitcher... so that's a bad thing, sorry dude

May 14, 2007  02:44 PM ET

yes, GRADY SIZEMORE..........Im sure that an AVERAGE AL pitcher could be in the top 4 in ERA in the NL......

May 14, 2007  02:46 PM ET

He's hitting .239 buddy...

May 14, 2007  02:49 PM ET

name one that's done it then. Plenty of pitchers have crossed over and gotten shelled, look at Moulder, stud in the AL not so much now. and sizemore isn't a top 5 outfielder in anyone's dreams.
1.) Andruw Jones
2) Tori Hunter
3) Ichiro
4) Beltran
5) Wells
6) Coco Crisp
i can go on

May 14, 2007  02:50 PM ET

Right now, the N.L. is better then the A.L. The key words are RIGHT NOW.

May 14, 2007  02:51 PM ET

Coco WHO?!?!?!?!

May 14, 2007  02:53 PM ET

Can we just re-title this throwdown "Vote for which league your favorite team is in"?

May 14, 2007  02:55 PM ET

pinstrypes you have an awful argument, you are trying to parade a .239 hitter, who by the way is in his 3rd year in the league, so looking at the past five years??? you want his high school stats. Not to mention Sizemore hasn't won a single award in his time in the MLB, not one no gold glove (A. Jones has 9, and starting winning them at age 20). not one silver slugger, nothing, so what supports him being the best CF in the game?????? and this is how the AL is better than the NL????

May 14, 2007  02:56 PM ET

there should be no way hardabs loses this, wow it's really tied???? read the arguments NYY and BOS fans, he isn't even pumping up your teams.

May 14, 2007  03:05 PM ET

the guys had a good argument, but theres alot more bad teams in the NL than in the AL

May 14, 2007  03:10 PM ET

he said nothing about that he, his argument is that sizemore is the best player in baseball, with NOTHING to support that, also that a middle of the road pitcher would win the CY young in the NL, which has never happened so i don't know where this guy is coming from.

May 14, 2007  03:14 PM ET

pinstrypes please challenge me with your "sizemore is the best player in baseball" garbage, i'd challenge you myself but i don't want people thinking i'm taking an easy win.

May 14, 2007  03:18 PM ET

I never said that he is the best player in the game..............and by the way, did you read the article in SI this week?? Get back to me when you do........he isnt even top 5 in the game, I said he is the best OF in the game..........and by the way, you cant gage a guy on 6 weeks of stats.

May 14, 2007  03:19 PM ET

An di suppose you think Elway is the best QB ever too?..........

May 14, 2007  03:19 PM ET

No doubt, the NL has great players, but OVERALL, the AL is better.

May 14, 2007  03:23 PM ET

well then lets throwdown on him being the best OF, he isn't a top five in that either.
