Ok, I'm going to try this again, since a crasher ruined the last one. Minnesota has the best defense and running game, but do not have a quarterback to throw the ball, and basically have one of the most anemic passing games in the NFL. Detroit is the same old Lions, but will be better than last year. However, the best I can see them doing is .500, as they have a tougher schedule as the year goes on. I've said this before the season, and I'll say it again. The Packers should finish second with practically the same young team as last year, but with more experience. If wins over the fairly talented Eagles and Giants don't make you a believer, they should have a close game with the Chargers this Sunday, even if they lose.

Detroit is a much improved team from last year. Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams are good targets for Kitna along with all the other guys that I never heard of. Green Bay's defense is what is keeping them alive this season. Deshaun Wynn showed that he could be a good goal line threat, but Detroits offense moves the ball better. Like Green Bay, Detroit has issues with the run game, but at least has 1 proven running back on their roster in Tatum Bell. Kitna seems to have the Detroit passing game under control. I would pick Chicago to win the division outright, but Cedric Benson is a major down grade from Thomas Jones. I see Detroit and Chicago as the top 2 teams in the NFC North, but Greenbay as a close third

Detroit will get a close 3rd in the NFC North. I think we can both agree that it will be very close between these two, and Chicago isn't going to dominate like they used to. Detroit's offense and Green Bay's defense are both very good, but I think that Green Bay's offense is much more potent than Detroit's defense. They've allowed an average of almost 20 points per game, while the Packers is 13, the Viking's is around 7, and so is the Bears. Detroit hasn't even played very good offenses yet, and their complete lack of defense is why they will lose those very important division games against the Bears and Packers. They may both be 2-0, but Green Bay has played much better teams.

Detroit seems to be gettin gback to where they were in the Barry Sanders days only it is with a passing game instead of a running game. This division is a battle of defense mostly, but Detroit's offense might manage games better and wear down their defenses. Sometimes when your offense is the strength of you team the best you can do is keep your defense off the field. Chicago weakened their offense when they dealt off Thomas Jones, but Urlacher & the Bears defense still dominates over Greenbay & I still won't count out Minnesota and their run game. I honestly think Brett Favre is holding up the packers offensively as they try to prepare for the post Favre era whenever it happens. It will be a tight race in this division, but I see Greenbay finishing third at least. If Adrian Peterson is the real deal then Minnesota could be in the mix too.

The Lions look strong this year.

I believe that anybody looks strong against the Raiders and Vikings.

Denver didn't look strong against the Raiders last week...they just got lucky.

September 22, 2007  05:42 PM ET

you are right TexasRaider, Denver din't look strong at all. I think that the Packers will finish 1st!!!

hey, Minnesotas passing game is better than the chiefs and the, um, no wait, thats it.

its debatable who would win right now if the gophers played the vikings

September 22, 2007  06:40 PM ET

The Lions didn't play the Vikings.

You forgot about the Falcons passing game, Maroney. That's by far the worst in the NFL.

September 22, 2007  07:16 PM ET

They will get first.

September 22, 2007  08:44 PM ET

You are both wrong. It should be the Vikings. You are getting too caught up on whether the Lions or **** have the better offense, but the Vikings defense and running game will put them in playoff contention. the **** rely on too many bad players to sustain any goodness. the Lions should finish third. Don't forget they are getting Kevin Jones back sometime soon. What wins in the NFL? Defense and running. Hence, Bears - first Vikings - second Lions - third and **** - last.
