NFL Nation TD Tourney Round 1: Which 0-3 team has the best CHANCE of making the playoffs? (not that they actually will make it)

There are currently 5 teams at 0-3 in the NFL: Dolphins, Bills, Falcons, Saints, & Rams. These teams obviously have problems and have a very slim chance of a winning record let alone to make it to the playoffs. If I had to choose one that had an outside chance it would be the Rams. I chose this team because they have a good QB in Bulger who throws to 2 elite WR's, Holt and Bruce and Mc Michael. Jackson is only injured for a few games, but they have a solid rookie in Leonard as well as Minor to fill the gap in his absence. The Rams defense have many good players on defense such as Pro Bowler Glover, DT Carriker, LB Witherspoon, and SS Chavous. While the Rams are not in the weakest conference in the NFC, their division rivals are not running away with the lead by any stretch of the imagination. This is why I believe that the Rams have the best chance of any 0-3 teams out there.

You made a great choice but....I have faith in the saints. they made it to the Playoffs last year, Brees is one of the most underrated QB's in the NFL. He is a good QB, just doesn't have that many experienced WR's to catch all of his great throws. The running game is a great force on the Saints. They got Bush to run the ball(since mcallister hurt his knee).Have a strong fullback in Karney. as Colston the main receiver, the saints will get rolling in the next few games and start getting TD's left and right. they will get a winning streak going.

Brees is not underrated anymore. That went out the door his last year with the Chargers. You have mentioned the Saints offense, which was good with the McAlister/Bush combo. But Bush is not ready to be the feature back yet. He's still getting used to the speed of the game. Reggie is good in space, but has less success in the backfield.

The Defense is what is killing the Saints. There is no quick fix. The Saints secondary, which was weak to begin with is now paper thin with depth. They have 3 safties on the injury list and CB (Toast) David might as well be for all the help he gives the team.

The nail in the coffin right now is that the Saints are riding an emotional low. Payton called the team "poor". Fujita said that the punter's the only one doing anything right. The Saints have too high a mountain to climb this year.

Bush is still a little inexperienced to be the one good RB on a team, but would you want him or Stecker or Thomas to be doing it? For how **** was in college, his one year of experiece helps him a little bit. Brees is underrated because no one thought he wolud be good with the saints, but he got them to the playoffs last year. Its been a while since they have been seen in the playoff picture. Brees still has Colston, Copper, and Meachem to catch his throws. The 2 best guys on defense for the rams is Glover and Little. they each have 10 or more years under their belts. so the prime of their careers has past. not long until they retire and leave the rams with no defense.

Bush didn't take the Saints to the playoffs, Brees and McAlister did.
But the offense is not the team's greatest problem. It's the Defense:
Points surrendered per Game: 34.3 Total Points:103 Yards: 355.3 Yards per play: 6.4 Fumbles: 2 Lost: 1 INT's: 1 (Very few turnovers)
The Saints D cannot help the offense, which will flounder without a balanced running attack.

Your assertion that no one but Bush can do the running only proves my point that the Saints will be handicapped by relying on a sophmore RB who is still learning the speed of the game.

As for the Rams D, it's actually one of the bright spots of the Rams team. Any players retirement status is immaterial. Glover and Little are playing NOW and doing well. Don't forget the Rams also have top notch players in Witherspoon at LB and Chavous at SS, who contribute quite a bit to the Rams D.

The Rams woes come from injuries, which can heal in time. The Saints woes are due primarily to a lagging defense and an offense that cannot score despite the weapons at Brees' disposal.

This is why the Rams have a better shot. Physical injuries heal, but a team's psyche is harder to mend.

McAllisters wounds will heal over time too, and when they do, expect a powerful running game. Brees does have many weapons in his arsenal, he has just not used them correctly........YET. Once him, Colston, Copper, and Meachem get on the same page, they will have a powerful passing game like Favre and the Packers. If their offense scores alot of points per game, then its going to turn out like the Bengals vs. Browns game. alot of scoring on both sides of the ball. Then the defense just has to get the occasinal stop on 3rd down. the D is bad on the saints, they just need to score alot on offense.

i say the saints theyve started slow but brees will get goin and they will make it

Rams have no O-line. With Pace out for the year they are a different team. Also, Bulger playing with bruised ribs, and Jackson being out 2-3 weeks is not going to make them any better. Watch out for the Dolphins, they might surprise people and roar back.

it's not the Rams, its hard not to see the Saints not picking it up,

No O-line? So Barron, Setterstrom, Romberg and Goldberg are nothing whatsoever? I won't lie. The team has injuries, which is why Bulger is struggling. But look at the assets around Bulger, and you see the only 0-3 team that has a shot. They were about 10 yards from beating SF Week 2.

Have you seen the Saints players lately? Even Fujita said that the only guy playing right on the team is the punter. Peyton said in the post-game press conference that the team is playing poorly and doing everything wrong. Does this sound like a team that's ready to turn it around anytime soon?

Holt still has talent. Bruce is not as good as he use to be. Bulger needs to learn how to use the slot receivers more. Saints are still high on last year.
My great Dolphins need an day-um O-Line!!!! Bills just need(ranked last in everything right now). Falcons will not go anywhere with Harrington.
But with all that said. It would be the Rams.

I don't know if that Saints can get out of their funk. When the coach is so despondent and calls his team "poor" you know the team is S. O. L.

Nothing against The Fins, Bills and Falcons, but they're in a rebuilding year. Cameron has to fix the disarray that "Love 'em and Leave 'em" Saban left. Bills are doing their best M*A*S*H imitation this year. The Falcons...well the writing was on the wall when Vick was indicted. Harrington would need a much better supporting cast in order to truly do anything.

I will probably not be on until monday.

Ok. Nice of the other guy to bail rather than forfeit. This is a tourney TD. But that's fine. We can finish this like a regular TD. I'm up for the challenge. I need to hone my TD skills. LOL

My next argument will be up soon. I'm at work so I have to accomplish a few things before I post my next argument.

i don't have a computer @ home, so I do this at school or Library. so I don't know if I'll b on between now and monday around 10 a.m.

Report Offensive Comment

No problem. Just work on it as you can. I thought this TD would sit her forever and I'd have to request it be deleted. I've had about 3 or so go that way on me. They were good TD's too! That's the worst part. Talk to you later. Have a good weekend. BTW...that's pretty funny that they let you get on FanNation in the library at school. Most librarians are so uptight about that. LOL

I get on a computer in the back corner. when she comes, i switch to a site i'm supposed to be on. I do that everyday mostly.

Report Offensive Comment

LOL Too funny. You should try the local regular library on the weekends. Some public libraries have computer access. I used to do that before I started getting hand-me down computers from friends.

I will whenever I get a ride. I can't drive by myself yet. got about 5 more months until that. I'll get on any chance I get.

Ha Ha. Good work on sneeking on the site Packers Man. Also, the Rams are my favorite team (after the Pack), but I have to go with the Saints. They have the better team to do it. Both have good arguements.
