Fannation Superbowl Rd 1 AFC offensive PLAYER OF THE YEAR as of right now. (Monday afternnon!)

I am going to go with Tom Brady. For a guy who has never won a individual reward outside of the Superbowl, he is running WILD over all his opponents as of now.

He is having BY FAR his best statistical season so far, with a WHOPPING 10 passing TD's in 3 games, a whopping 79.5 completions pct, and a STELLAR QB rating of 141.8.

Now I like Brady yes, but my favourite QB is Peyton (don't ask), and this year Tom Brady and his offense is closely resembling that of Peyton Manning and the Colts

Barring any injuries, this team will face the same scrutiny Peyton and his Colts did while going undefeated, and in the wake of the "VideoGate" scandal, that will be very little of a distraction.

Tom is having by far his best season, his team is not just beating teams, but making them look like they are in a lower class. The signing of Randy was all Tom's doing, and he made a good choice.

Tom Brady will be the AFC offensive player of the year.

I'm going with Randy Moss as the first quarter AFC MVP. Moss has been instrumental in striking fear into the hearts of the Pats opponents. True, before Moss the Pats and Brady were well respected and feared. But Moss makes the Pats offense look like a Rubik's Cube. Forget Ocho Cinco, no one can cover Moss.

Moss is on pace to have a career season with the following guady stats:
Receptions: 22, Yards: 403, YPC: 18.3, YPG: 134.3, Long: 51, TD's: 5, catches 20+ yds. : 7, catches 40+ yds. : 3, 1st downs: 16, Fumbles: 0

Moss is on fire. He's paramount to the Pats success and apparent invincibility.

I knew that was the only logical choice.....but I got 4 words for you.

COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR....that will be what Randy Moss gets, or should get.

Moss doesn't have the most yards, or TD's. And has only 2 more catches then Wes Welker.....

Brady is the man this year....he is doing what he ALWAYS does, SPREAD THE BALL AROUND, and win games. Moss 31% of Toms completions, Welker 29%.

Brady is on pace to SHATTER some records.....like TD records, and Rating records.

There is no denying that Tom is one of the greatest QB's that are playing the game right now, and with his 3 SB's and 2 SB MVP's, all he is missing is some regular season accolades. This is the year he gets those.

Randy would have to be light years above all the other WR's, and that just isn't going to happen, Tom can certainly have better stats then all other QB's.

Moss was the obvious choice? LOL I was thinking Manning, but I didn't want to choose the simple, easy, and obvious co-contender. Go figure.

I disagree with your reliance on pure stats. It's true, Moss does not lead the stats category outright. However, an MVP should be someone who is most valuable to his team, not just the overall leader in stats.

In this case Moss' ability to burn DB's and beat press coverage gives the Pats options they previously did not have with other WR's.

Moss gives Brady a deep threat option or he can be a decoy while Brady goes to option #2, Welker. Could Welker actually be a #1 option? Doubtful.

You also mention that Rice was the last WR to win MVP. That does not preclude the possibility of any other WR winning. Moss has proven that he's not only the Comeback POY, but also the missing link to the Pats return to SB dominance through his speed, strength, savvy, and subscription into the Pats team concept.

Your negating stats, when he is part of them. He catches nothing, if Tom doesn't throw his way.

The sheer fact that QB/RB dominates this particular award goes to show that the QB is first given credit for the pass. His accuracy is SECOND TO NONE....He just 15 minutes ago has the BEST COMPLETION PCT IN FIRST 100 PASSES in a season. Moss is his favorite target, no doubt about it, but it's Tom that puts the ball where ONLY MOSS CAN GET IT.

Tom is second to none in Superbowls(current QB). Moss is not the Missing Link. For that to be true, you negate the hard work this team did in its earlier Triumphant seasons.

Moss is a great addition to the team, and a weapon that only a MVP caliber QB knows how to correctly use.

Brady is the HEART AND SOUL of this team, has guided them to 3 superbowls, capturing 2 SB MVP's in the process. IN NO WAY is Moss the offensive MVP of his team, let alone the conference. That nod has to go to the man tossing the rock, and keeping it safe.

I am not negating nor diminishing the importance of stats. They're important. Otherwise Culpepper's 5 TD's and 75 yds. would seem impressive somehow. Stats tell half the story.

I also would not diminish the Pats prior accomplishments, nor Brady's. 3 SB's in 4 years is phenomenal. But if Brady could do it all on his own, then they never needed to trade for Moss.

As aforementioned, Moss is that extra edge that the Pats need to not only win SB's but dominate a highly competitive league of high powered offenses such as Indy, and overwhelming defenses such as the Ravens, Steelers, and formerly the Chargers.

Hard to argue against Mr. 80% Completion rate 141 passer rating the day he faces a defense that allowed 51 points to the Brownies. LOL, good luck Osi.

just thought oso, might want to know, the nfc player of the year so far is tony Romo, a guy you hated on plenty. The boys scored 45 on nyg and the eagles scored 3. And I don't want to hear about westbrook being hurt, I told every philly fan he would get hurt. He is great, but appears to be made of glass. As for this throwdown, that should be a tough arguement neigbor.

LOL Just euthanize me now. Good choice of TD and candidate Lana. I'll get started on my half of the argument now.

Report Offensive Comment

Personally if I was to argue this I'd go with Randy Moss.

Report Offensive Comment

Not that it is right.. but its arguable.

Thanks Nick. As usual you just have to bring up the Cowboys in an AFC Throwdown. No homerism there. I think Cowboys homers have become my new favorite entity to loathe.

Report Offensive Comment

yeah, i'm a homer, we are 4 and 0, ya'll are 1 and 3. And look like crap. Just stating the facts. You were wrong, I was right. I don't see this great reggie brown you told me about.

I'm sorry, did you say something? You know I don't speak Spanish Nick. ;)

I hate both Moss and Brady, but I think WR should come before QB

The last WR to win this award was JERRY RICE 14 yrs ago.

Jerry won this award 2ce, and is the ONLY WIDE RECIEVER EVER TO WIN IT!!!!

RB and QB are the ones chosen.

How is she always right??? =)

Report Offensive Comment

How ever great Randy Moss's season will be, always remember who threw him every pass right on time. When was the last time a WR won offensive player of the year? Cant say I ever remember that happening, but I am not one for stats or records so maybe ya'll can educate me on that one.

Report Offensive Comment

That didnt take long, thanks Lans.

This TD should have waited until tomorrow after every team had played 4 games.
