LSU will not win the National champioship this year.

I seen LSU play this year and here is how I look at them.

The defense is highly overrated. I saw Florida and Kentucky were able to move the ball up and down the field all day against them. And Auburn did the same thing against this defense.

There offense is good but not great. The quarterback play has been up and down so far.

LSU easly should be 5-3 instead of 7-1 because of the way they play recently. They still have at Alabama, which is the Nick Saban bowl, and the SEC championship game, which they could play Florida again.

The way things ar going, LSU will not win the national championship.

How can you create a throw down stating that 1 out of 119 teams in D-1A football won???t win the championship? You don???t even make a statement of who do you think will win the national championship you just state that 1 out of 119 teams wont win it.

If you look at it logically for you to be right 118 out of 119 teams can with the national championship. If you???re going to argue this at least make a statement of who will win the national championship over LSU

LSU has 1 bad game and everyone jumps off the bandwagon they were so quick to jump on, that is just ridiculous. This year in college football if there is any undefeated (BCS Conference) team it will be amazing.

Ill let you decide who you think will win and then ill argue that LSU will be able to beat them

What I'm saying is LSU will not win the national championship.

LSU still has at Alabama which is not an easy game. They also have the SEC Championship game in which they could face Florida again, and Florida easly should have won that game on Oct. 6 in Baton Rouge. Right now LSU is lucky that they are 7-1 instead of 5-3.

As for who will play in the national championship game, the 2 team I have playing in the game right now are Ohio State and Oklahoma.

It is so easy to say that one team won???t win the national championship especially after you watched them lose a game already. Ohio State will be in the national championship game but I don???t know about Oklahoma. LSU does have a game against Alabama but they already beat Florida and barely lost Kentucky???two teams who are way better than Alabama. I don???t care what their record could be, hell Florida could be 0-7, who care what they could have been???care about what they are a 7-1 football team.

Ohio State is a good team but nothing like LSU; Ohio State has not played a single decent team yet and really hasn???t been all that impressive against the cupcakes. LSU on the other hand has destroyed every cupcake and has put up monster numbers against the good teams. LSU???s defense will dominate a overachieving OSU offense and OSU defense will put up a fight but will not be able to adjust to non big ten style of play (just like last year)

LSU will still win the national championship because one team at most from the BCS conferences will finish undefeated allowing LSU to get into the game by being a much better team than everyone else, and WIN.

Considering that the SEC is the best conference in college football, no one from that conference will play for the national championship.

Like I said, LSU still has to play at Alabama and also the SEC championship game in which they could play Florida again.

In that Florida game, Florida was able to move the ball up and down the field and had a 10 point lead twice in that game. Plus LSU made some key 4th down plays that could had gone either way.

As for Ohio State, They have a easier road than LSU. They play at Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois at home, and at Michigan where Jim Tressell has own Lloyd Carr.

So bottom line is Ohio State has a better chance to play for the national championship game than LSU.

LSU is from the SEC them same conference that produced last year???s NATIONAL CHAMPION so your first point is invalid.
Second saying penn state, Michigan (whom is much better than they showed in the beginning of the year), Wisconsin are???nt good teams is completely ignorant. OSU has a chance to lose any 2 of those games, they are not near as dominant as they were last year.
LSU did ALMOST lose to Florida but they didn???t. God teams convert those forth downs when they need to. Good teams come back from two 10 point deficits to win. Oh, and did I mention that they WON.
Tressel owns Llyod Carr, as Llyod once owned The Ohio State University, Llyod, if they stay unbeaten until then has more to prove than Tressel, Tressel has shown he can do it, Llyod will be trying to make all those doubter shut up, same with Dhad Henne, Jake Long, Mike Hart, Mario Manninghame, Adrian Arrington, Shawn Crable, and the rest of Michigan seniors.
LSU will win the National Championship

I say any team that faces LSU in the national championship game is going to get bodied.

October 22, 2007  04:50 PM ET

If LSU gets there that is... I obviously think they will.

October 22, 2007  04:53 PM ET

funny thing is, even though there are 119 teams that COULD win the Nat'L Championship, I think LSU is 50/50 on winning it...

Now, if he had said someone like Hawaii :-)

Sorry Hawaii fans, I just had to.... :-)

The Devil made me say it :-)

If Ohio State makes it, it will just be a repeat of last year's title game. Ohio State will get DEMOLISHED if they catch LSU in the BCS National Title Game.

LSU only has one tough game left for the regular season, and that is Alabama. LSU is just now starting to get Flynn back to full strength, and they now have Doucet back at WR. Doucet did pretty well against Auburn. The defense has really only struggled against Kentucky. They played poorly against both Florida and Auburn in the 1st half, and then stiffened in the 2nd half to allow a comeback. LSU's defense is not overrated. Facing elite offenses like Kentucky and Florida is tough.

When they go to the SEC Championship Game, they are capable of winning. They showed that by beating teams like Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Florida, and Auburn.

October 22, 2007  05:06 PM ET

LSU's defense did look lackluster against Auburn. Auburn's offense has improved a lot since the beginning of the year, but I wouldn't call them potent or dangerous by any means. Keep in mind though, that Glenn Dorsey missed a significant amount of time (thanks in large part to one of the dirtiest plays I've seen all year), and he is the anchor of that deffensive line. There's also the fact that it was the third game of brutal 3 game stretch (Florida, @Kentucky, Auburn).

LSU still has as good a shot as anyone. If they take care of business in Tuscaloosa, they don't have any significant hurdles to clear until the SEC championship game. They win that and they have 1 loss and one of the toughest schedules in the country. That should be enough to get them to the BCS title game this year.

October 22, 2007  05:33 PM ET

GO FLORIDA!!!

October 22, 2007  05:38 PM ET

Yeah, they should definitely be 5-3. Gimme a break. This team is ASTOUNDING in what it has done. It's played like 4 of its last 5 games against opponents in the top 20, including several high powered offenses this year like Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, and Kentucky. You might be a bit worn down after that stretch as well.

October 22, 2007  05:47 PM ET

South Carolina and Auburn aren't high powered offenses. They're good teams, and LSU has been very impressive considering they've played such a tough schedule this year, so I'm not trying to take away from what they've accomplished. But South Carolina and Auburn aren't quality offensive teams.

October 22, 2007  05:58 PM ET

LSU is good but Auburn pretty much dismantled them in the first half which proves they are def. beatable. With that said, I still believe that they will run the table and celebrate a national championship in their home state.

October 22, 2007  06:01 PM ET

how are they beatable when you lost? every team when they win a championship always has that one or two games where they could have lost but they didnt...if they are definately beatable how come they werent beat by auburn

October 22, 2007  06:08 PM ET

Because Auburn kicked a short squib kick after going up by 1 point late in the 4th quarter, thus giving LSU about 20 extra yards of field position that they didn't have to cover in order to be in field goal range?

October 22, 2007  06:14 PM ET

but good team capitalize on mistakes, so youre telling me no national champion ever had to come from behind to win a game? Auburn made a mistake so LSU gets punished for auburn making a mistake rather than praised for comeing from behind to win the game as time expired?

October 22, 2007  06:25 PM ET

OSU offense and OSU defense will put up a fight but will not be able to adjust to non big ten style of play (just like last year)

so what is a Big ten style of play???? hahaha dumbest comment i have heard

October 22, 2007  06:29 PM ET

Big Ten style of play...run first then run again then maybe run a third time, compare to every other conferense who might run 2 or 3 times in a scoring drive. Steveo you have no idea what youre talking about. I have watched the big ten play my whole life and i watched the big ten get dominated each year by other conferences in non conference and bowl play year after year

October 22, 2007  06:30 PM ET

steveo shows his own ignorance

October 22, 2007  06:32 PM ET

I wasn't trying to punish LSU. I agree with you man (I know, it's rare). LSU has just as good (if not better) shot as anyone in the country of winning the title this year.

I was just tryin' to make a joke, and also point out that yes, LSU is beatable. Every team that has ever won the title is (except maybe the '95 Nebraska team), it just takes a mistake free game from the opponent to do it. If Auburn doesn't make that mistake, they probably win. Kudos to LSU for taking advantage of it.

October 22, 2007  06:37 PM ET

Man said LSU wouldnt be national champs...the fact he is losing leads me to believe all of you think he is wrong.

Not watching the same college football season if you ask me. Bama coming up...SEC title game, I just dont see LSU making it.

October 22, 2007  06:39 PM ET

ok Lets look at LSU's meaningful games

Va Tech - win
South Carolina - win
Florida- win
Auburn - win
Kentucky - loss

lets look at oklahoma's meaningful games
Colorado- Loss
Missouri - win

lets look at Ohio State's meaningful games
??????

If you want to write LSU out because they lost 1 game then why not write off OK and OSU for not playing anybody. Everybody seems to forget last year the top 2 big 10 schools got dominated in their bowl games. NOBODY in the mediocre 11 should be above the top 4 or 5 SEC teams
