This Sunday the Giants play the Dolphins in London in the first regular season outside of north america.

The NFL is the most the popular sport in the U.S.A. But they are a distance 4th when it comes to the international side with the NBA, NHL, and Baseball.

One of the reasons the NFL is behind the other 3 sports when it comes to internationalizing the sport is because the NBA, NHL and baseball have a lot of foreign players. They were able to market their sport to other countries, while the NFL has been slow in doing this.

I think the NFL is doing the right thing in playing a regular season game outside of the U.S. because it needs to globalize the sport to other countries and not far behind the the other 3 sports in this case.

No matter what happens in London, this is a step the NFL doing in trying to globalize their sport.

Might lose this TD but I disagree......

Football will never be big in England.....They love their football=soccer.....And wrestling and even basektball before american football would become a bigger sport in England.....

Football is strictly an american pastime......

Plus having played football in Canada, the sport is grueling enough without having to fly across "the pond" and experience major jetlag before playing.....This is gonna be a horrible game and the Fins might have a shot at pulling it off

Roger Goodell wants to globalize the sport just like the NBA, NHL, and Baseball are doing.

If this all goes well this weekend, expect the NFL to continue this in the near future.

The NFL didn't expect the Dolphins to be 0-7 at this point. So don't blame the NFL on this one. And also both the Giants and Dolphins have a bye week next week.

This is a Dolphins home game. I'm sure the Dolphins would rather play this game in Miami than in London.

Down the line, the NFL will expand the schedule to 17 regular season games with 8 home, 8 road, and 1game overseas. There will be a bye week after the game overseas.

Roger needs to stick to cleaning up the image of the NFL.....

Games overseas are meaningless.....Play pre-season games thaty dont matter over there but not regular season games.....

Basketball and baseballare bigger overseas but NOT football and it never will be.....

It's an american fascination and sport.....That is why they cancelled NFL Europe League......

Presseason games are meaningless to begin with. If you play regular season games there people will care and go to the games.

The NFL is not just playing games in London. They are explorering playing games in Germany, Mexico, and Canada.

You may not like it, but Goodell is doing what is best for the league.

I dont see it being est for league because the rest of the world doesnt show much interest in the NFL....

Soccer and basketball yes, maybe even baseball but def not football.....

I say we keep it in the USA. What does it matter if we go over seas. Football is by far the #1 sport in the U.S. so why mess with other countries. It will just complicate things and take away home games for season ticket holders.

Football is as popular as it is here in the United States because of the hard work and time that Americans have put into it. So why take the game away from them. What has Europe done to help the game? Nothing,

Before England or any other country deserves to have a regular season game played on their soil, they should first try to popularize the sport in their country. They need to brodcast games every Sunday so every person can watch it. Until then why should we have to play a game in their country.

Last year when Arizona and San Francisco played in Mexico, Jake Plummer refused to wear a sticker on his helmet comemerating the moment. I said it then and I'll say it Know, Good for Him. American Football is our sport. Other countries have done nothing to deserve important games played in front of their fans on their soil.

deserve a game? why don't we quit acting like football is America's gift to the world and realize that it is just a sport? it's "our" sport at that and the English have no "obligation" to like it. there should be no sense of "deserving" here. how would you like it if some Englishman or Spainard said that the US doesn't deserve it when teams from the Champions League come and tour like they did a few years ago?

NFL Europe failed because the level of play was terrible. perhaps if we actually showed the rest of the world what the BEST players can do (why are we sending the Dolphins, then? ;-) ), they'll take a liking to the game.

while i am more or less against a regular season game overseas because it takes away from season ticket holders, a pre-season game or two isn't a bad idea, with eventual expansion to a regular season game or two if the turnout is high enough and the feedback positive enough.

Same reason Soccor will never be as big over here.

October 26, 2007  10:55 AM ET

that's just a shame, really. Soccer is a great game and i wish it would get big over here.

October 26, 2007  11:57 AM ET

This is a real bad move. First of all one of these teams loses a home game, and leaves the fans high and dry. If I were a player would not want to deal with being in a foreign counrty, let lag.......when I should be trying to win a game. Thank goodness they did not make west coast team go.

Hey thejetstolehome, most people here in the US could care less about soccer and the Champions League...

October 26, 2007  12:33 PM ET

Football is an American Sport. They love soccer, and don't like Americans. Anyone who has gone out of the States would see that Football is safe because they don't want it. Hey I just found one thing we can thank the big white house for.

and most people in Europe couldn't care less about the NFL. that's besides the point, though. way to ignore everything else i said, too.
