Unless the Yankees change their mind on A-Rod, the Yankees will need a 3rd baseman.

There are 3 players I can see play 3rd base for the Yankees next year.

1. Mike Lowell, Red Sox
2. Miguel Cabrera, Marlins
3. Wilson Betemit, Yankees

Lowell was just name the World Series MVP. He is a former Yankee who will fit right. Not sure if the Red Sox will give Lowell what he wants because Lowell will command a lot money. He is a free agent.

Cabrera is only 24 years old. He might be as good as A-Rod when it come to hitting. He is a lousy fielder, and a little bit over weight. To get Cabrera the Yankees will have to trade people like Melky Cabrera, and one of their young pitchers like Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, or Ian Kennedy.

Betemit was acquired in a trade deadline deal from the Dodgers for pitcher Scott Proctor. Some say the Yankees acquired him to be A-Rod's replacement. Betemit was a big prospect for the Braves. But thengot traded to the Dodgers last year. He did not play much for the Dodgers. And he didn't play much for the Yankees this year. But he does have power potential.

Then again it would not surprise me if A-Rod re-signs with the Yankees.

I agree, it will probably be one of those 4 people.

Any of the 3 that I metion will be the Yankees 3rd baseman. I would not rule out Joe Crede of the White Sox as a possible.

I agree whole heartedly. And as soon as you pick ONE of them, I'll argue back.

My guess is that Miguel Cabrera will be the 3rd baseman for the Yankees next year. Its going to cost them plenty to get.

Wow, welcome back. How was your siesta? Hope you dreamed about winning this TD

I'll take Betemit. Already on the roster, so they can use their dollars to find more pitching.

That way it won't cost em too much.

would you rather me decline or argue later..?

I agree with Amanda....you can't have a TD saying Who will be... and then name 3 people.

Pick one.

I agree with Pecota, any of those players other than Cabrera will be a bust. He's better suited for DH anywho.

Just accepted this so I could comment on it. You are an idiot.

forget this. no argument at all.

also, Miguel Cabrera won't be on the Yankees next year because they're not going to trade away a pitching prospect to get him. they'll just wait til the end of the year when he's an FA.

'He is a former Yankee who will fit right. '

He had a cup of coffee with the Yanks...8 games, 15 ABs...it's not like he was a real Yankee and he'd be going back to his roots...

I was thinking the same thing John he didn't pick anyone. Aaaron "Bleeping" Boone is a free agent.....

Yankees 3rd baseman will be........... John Gruden

I'd love the job. Just need to improve my hitting, fielding, and stripper dating, and I'm ready.

Stripper dating...now that I might need to sign up for an intensive 12-24 month course on...I would have to change instructors ever so often..

November 1, 2007  03:37 PM ET

i have a stripper dating coach...he helps me with my follow through

I hope they choose Betemit. I would rather have Miguel come to the Mets and shift to one of the corner outfield spots.

Miguel playing the outfield?!!? Are you insane? He'd make Manny look athletic out there. Miggy has DH in his near-future.
