LSU is offically a OVERRATED football team.
Yesterday LSU fail to covert on a 2 point conversion in the 3rd Overtime and lose 50-48 at home to Arkansas.
LSU has been living on a tight rope all season. There have been 5 games this year where LSU has been in close games where they were trailing.
THe Florida game at home they were down 24-14, but came back and won. The Auburn game at home they were doen 17-7 at the half before winning it 30-24 on a last second touchdown pass by Matt Flynn to Demetrius Byrd. The Alabama game on the road they were down 27-17 before rallying back to win 41-34.
But in the Kentucky game, they lead 27-14 in the 3rd quarter, and Kentucky came back to force overtime and won 43-37 in 3 overtimes. Then yesterday LSU trail Arkansas by 8, 7, and 7 points before rallying to force overtime and then lose in the 3rd overtime when they didn't convert on the 2 point conversion.
The Biggest reason LSU is out of the National Championship race is because of their Defense. There Defense is overrated because in the 5 games that I metion, they let the other teams offenses go up and down the field.
LSU is now OFFICALLY OVERRATED.

Nope
It's called playing in the SEC.......
It isnt like they have lost to scrub teams or been blown out......
Actually they still have a slim chance of playing in the national title game if Kanas and Missouri lose down the stretch......West Virginia has 2 tough games with Pitt (4 losses by a combined 18 points, cld be 8-2) and UConn.....
LSU wont fall farther than 6th.......

The SEC is the best conference in college football. Because of that, the teams in that conference beat each other up, which make it very hard to win the national championship. Having said that, LSU was consider the one of the favorites to win the national championship. At times, they have not play like a team that can win it all. I also think their defense has let them down at times beacuse other teams can make plays on their defense. And one more thing, the Michigan situation was a big distraction for Les Miles this week. Miles has denied any interested in the Michigan job, but we all know that if he is offer the job he will take it beacuse of his ties with Michigan. LSu has been living on the edge all season long. They got burn at Kentucky, and got burn at home against Arkansas.

Their offense is led by AN INCONSISTENT QB......
Their defense is one of the top defense's in the nation......There are some great offense's in the SEC and their defense has still been a top unit so you saying their defense has let them down is just ludicrous......
They are 3rd with 278 yards allowed and 24th with 20ppg allowed.....

The LSU defense is so OVERRATED.
Florida, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas went up and down the field all day against LSU's defense.
In the Kentucky game, LSU led 27-14 in the 3rd quarter. Kentucky came back to win in the 3rd overtime.
In the Arkansas game, the LSU defense allow Darren McFadden had his way resulting in a 50-48 3 overtime loss. McFadden might win the Hesiman Trophy because of this game.
So to recap, LSU's defense is so OVERRATED. They have allow teams to go up and dowm the field on them. That why LSU is not playing for the National Championship.

Let me break it down for you........
All the teams you mentioned have spent time in top 25 this year, in this craziest of football season's.....
Florida (9-3)..........462 yds (14th) 43.1 pts (4th)
Kentucky (7-5)......438 yds (27th) 36.7 pts (16th)
Auburn (8-4).........327 yds (103rd) 24.3 pts (84th) ......They only scored 24pts
Alabama (6-6)......372 yds (76th) 26.8 pts (66th)
Arkansas (8-4).....457 yds (18th) 39.8 pts (12th)
They didnt lose to any scrub teams and both losses required multiple OT's.....

Their defense is the reason they have been the team to beat most of the season......Flynn has been inconsistent on offense.....

They do have scrub teams, Arkansas, miss State, Ole Miss and Vandy. You can add kentucky to that list but everyone wants to drink thier kool-aid after they beat LSU.
LSU has never been great. They squeek by bad teams, they claim to have the best D in the nation yet they let 2 unranked teams put up 43 and 50 against them.
I'm so sick of the SEC losing a game and can't grasp that they may not have the best team in the country. NO, they go and claim that this bad team is now a contender. HAHAHA, NO!!!!
LSU has no buisness in the title game, and now they won't be there. They lose to Ten or UGA in the SEC title game.

I've said all season that they where overrated. got bached for it. I told everyone in 2 weeks ago McFadden would rush for over 200 yards and Arkansas would beat them. Flynn is not a good enough QB to keep them in the #1 spot.

Tennessee will beat them in the sec title game?
Not with that awesome rush defense Tennessee is showing off. Although they did hold McFadden to almost 100 yards less than LSU did.

LSU WAS overrated coming into the season. The defense is very talented, but the hype was to much for what they are actually capable of. I think everyone put them on a pedestal because of how dominant the defense was for LSU last season. Having guys like Steltz as the leader at S and not Laron Landry showed this season, and along with some other losses/injuries the defense was basically torched by seasons end.
LSU was a very very good team, not great(Hard to admit as a Tigers fan), and still has a shot in the SEC Championship Game...

actually Steveo you don't know how the SEC works.
LSU will drop to 4-5 and Arkansas will be handed #20. You see when an SEC team loses it isn't because the team lost, NO, it is because the trash team that beat them is now GREAT.

Just end the season in a tie, and yes LSU was overrated, their only impressive win was over Vtech, they lost to Kentucky and Arkansas, played Auburn Alabama and even ole miss close and will get the stuffing kicked out of them by Tennessee

You don't understand the SEC
When LSU beat VT, it was an awesome demonstration.
When Tenn lost to PAC10 #7, its because Cal is awesome.
When Auburn lost to the 3rd or 4th team in the BigE, its showed FSU was awesome.
When Louisiana Monroe Defeats 'bama, we ignore it.
When Miss played LSU close, it just went to show the SEC is solid top to bottom.

It's a fact, if they win and Kansas and Missouri lose, there will be a 2 loss team possibly playing for the National title and that team cld very well be LSU......

"The SEC is the best conference in college football"
Recheck that little known but nobody cares facy dude...Pac-10 and SEC are pretty even, though the Pac10 is almost as good or better than the SEC at every game situation, the SEC is able to have a slightly better overall record because they play a higher percentage of the games that are 'easier (home games, games against Non-BCS or D1-AA teams). They play very few of the kind of games that they struggle in (away games against BCS-conference schools).
SEC fans criticism = "Maybe the SEC plays tougher teams than the Pac10 teams do". To explore this, I looked at the record of every BCS team played by both conferences. Here are the winning percentages of the opponents (BCS opponents only):
Home games
SEC opponents: 198-150 (56.90%)
PAC10 opponents: 200-145 (57.97%)
**The opponents are practically even, perhaps a little tougher for Pac10 teams but not statistically significant**
Away games
SEC opponents: 190-126 (60.13%)
Pac10 opponents: 234-177 (56.93%)
**The SEC opponents are tougher. You could certainly make a case that this skews the results, but at worst the Pac10 teams still do just as well as the SEC teams.**
Bowl games
SEC opponents: 298-121 (71.12%)
Pac10 opponents: 194-75 (72.12%)
**Despite Pac10 commish Hansen's best efforts, the Pac10 bowl opponents have a slightly better record than the SEC bowl opponents.
There you have it. Despite all the press to the contrary, the Pac10 out-performs the SEC in most situations. Perhaps the SEC teams are better than the Pac10 teams, but why don't the results bear this out on the field?
