this is prolly gonna get some laughs from people that say Brady is the best ever. well he isnt. Brady is overrated for the fact that PEOPLE SAY THAT HE CAN BEAT EVERY TEAM WITH HIS AUDIBLES AND HOT ROUTES AND "TALENT." Ive played QB for 4 years and let me tell ya, its not that hard to throw the ball 4-7 yards to a reciever accurately and let them make the play. Tom Brady only throws the ball. He doesnt go deep that often and when he does its hit and miss. his recievers are the ones that do the greatness. ever notice that the pats offense was non-existant when they didnt have any recievers? well i sure as heck did. Tom brady isnt the great qb that people say that he is. he is good BUT he isnt the elite qb that people want. He just has a graet coach that dumbs everything down, great recievers, and a great supporting cast with hte rest of the team. i give all the credit to bellichick. theres a reason that brady was drafted in the 6th round OUT OF MICHIGAN.

First off, Tom Brady is not overrated and I think his 3 SB rings prove that. He may not go deep alot (and I think Peyton Manning does that samething and uses those short passes too) but when you have 3 great receivers for every part of the field this year, you really don't need to go deep every play.
Also, have you ever heard of Deion Branch?? He may/may not have been Brady's #1 receiver (which before this season their were alot of #2 receivers on that team) and look at what they still did.
As far as being drafted in the 6th round, I don't know what the thinking was and neither will you unless you were in everybodys war room that Saturday and Sunday but he will be one of the biggest draft steals of all time.

I read these comments and all i see is that people think that Brady sucks. well i dont. he is good. but he is being put above way better qbs from the past that have proven their HOF. and be having played qb, i was just saying that it wasnt hard to throw the ball 3-7 yards. heck my 14 year old brother can do that. but its the big throws that, i guess, i just miss when i watch the pats play. i only see welker. stallworth, or mostly moss pulling of amazing catches that were originally poor ball placement. you put joey harrington on that team and thats the qb we would be arguing right now. brady is the product of the system like some other qbs that i could mention.bledsoe(superbowl in NE nothing anywhere else) there are a couple more but im not going to use them as a crutch. the only thing that i see coming away from this TD is that it shows how easily people are jumping on bandwagons. the statement "i dont like the pats, but..." isnt a rational statement. you have to be able to sit down, with no bias, and compare the play of lets say montana to the play of brady. critique every down, every play. thats the only way that people are gonna see wat im talkin about.
Jonesy: 49ers 4-8 said 11/29, 11:26 AM
I think we read the same comments below and none of them really say Brady sucks, were you got that I don't know. I don't know if you have watched every single game the Patriots have played (I can say I haven't, seen most but not all) and I have seen the deep throw a few times...the reason most of the time he didn't throw deep was when Moss was either double covered or triple (and with that said, he did make a few throws into that type of coverage and saw Moss catch them) but when you finally have a talented WR to make those plays, why not give it a try.
Isn't part of the game throwing those short passes? So what if all you see is Welker open on those 3-7 yard passes, it keeps the ball moving down field and the other defense on the field.
You can't compare the plays of Montana and Brady, those are 2 very different QBs, with 2 different offenses. With Montana, I see is offense back then looking like Peytons offense, than I do Bradys. He had Taylor and Rice with Jones (TE) either coming off the tackle or in the slot and a versitile RB in Craig.
And I don't think anybody here wants to critique every play, let the experts that get paid to do that, I'm just enjoying the show.
saints_#1 said 11/30, 09:10 AM
my bad. i meant that everyone thinks that i think brady sucks. sorry bout that. I see that the cast of montana and brady as similar. rice and moss, stallworth/welker(take your pick) and taylor, watson and jones. the only thing is that the rb situation is different. that 49ers team is my favorite team of all time and its kinda wierd that that team and the pats of now are pretty darn similar. the only thing is i dont see brady as the montana caliber qb. i know that this TD is pretty much over but i still believe that brady is overrated in the sense that he isnt as talented as other superstar qbs. he isnt very mobile, he has barely above average arm strength and when he does get the throw out there, his recievers have to adjust hardcore to get in the area of the ball. the argument agaisnt me is easy(3 SBs, this year, etc.) but i still think that brady should be thought of as more of a bradshaw type qb. where the scenario is the team gets to the SB and the qb just throws the ball to a guy with the same jersey.
Jonesy: 49ers 4-8 said 11/30, 10:37 AM
I don't see stallworth/welker in the same league as Taylor but with time in this offense, I think Welker will be that more of him than Stallworth. That why I say the Colts are more like the 49ers of past, they have the pieces of the puzzle. I don't think anyone will be of Joe Montana caliber QB but Brady will win just as many SB and SB MVPs as Montana.
But part of the game (and since you were a QB) is to throw the ball to the same player with the same jersey and they do what needs to be done with it. If that is all you have to do to win a SB, then everyone in the league should take note of how to win the SB when you finally get their.

I'm no Pats fan. But you gotta give respect where it's due. He's pretty good. Maybe not as good as you and your "4 years of qb experience".

and just exactly who did you play QB for?
I played the position in JHS, HS and in a few military leagues but I am not about to compare that to the NFL?!?! Even if you played in college it isn't the same. How many sure thing QBs from D-1 colleges do we watch tank every single year against the big boys? The first "easy" 5 to 7 yard out route you threw would be picked off by that LB or safety that runs a 4.1 40 and taken to the house because you couldn't read the complicated (and disguised) defense in front of you. lol
NFL QB is the most difficlult position to play in sports. The man is doing things at the position that were here to fore, unheard of.
Between Brady and Manning, we are probably atching the two best ever, I say sit back and enjoy the two so you can tell your grand kids about it. We got to see these two, MJ and Tiger like our grandfathers watched Babe, Ted and Joe D, how cool is that?

Silly TD
This argument is so tired because no great QB can suceed without talent around him. Tom Brady won THREE Superbowls without a probowl wideout, but he is a product of the system. Now his going to break most of the records for QB performance in a season and its his receivers that should get all the credit. I want to know who your elite QB's are? Last I checked Peyton Manning has been throwing to a bunch of great receivers his entire career. But he throws the ball, then runs the route and catches all by himself, right?
At the end of this season Tom Brady will hold a handful of the top QB single season records, a 4th superbowl ring, will have quarterbacked a perfect season & secured his 1st MVP award. How overrated can you really be with that resume.
By the way, if we judged QB's based upon draft position, then where is Ryan Leaf and Akili Smith on your list of QG greatness.

Vote to Jonsey! I can't stand the overrated/underrated TD's. Who determines that and why? Saints, playing QB in Pee Wee football for four years does not give you and credentials for judgement.

Other dumb comments-
- It's Brady's recievers? Did you notice the 3 rings he wears? Those were earned with average at best recieving corps.
- Bellichick dumbs it down? Are you serious? NOTHING about the offensive or defensive schemes run by the Patriots are simplified, in fact they are among the most complicated in the league.
- There is a resaon why Brady was drafted in the 6th round out of Michigan? Out of the 4 top QBs in the league right now only one was drafted in the first round, Manning. Favre- second round Southern Miss. (a veritable qb mecca huh?) Romo - undrafted!

Good point Coach regarding Belichick
Countless talented receivers have not made this team due to the complexity of this offense. Horrible argument.

Oh god. Even if he had the most convincing argument ever, he should get destroyed for the "I played quarterback for 4 years" so I know everything there is to know about football, and let me tell ya, Tom Brady is no saintsfan#1.

Brady is above average due to his decision making, and the information he processes so quickly. He makes it look easy, and very rarely throws a terrible ball.

Where to start. You played 4 years of QB where exactly? Brady has been winning and producing since he got put in to replace Bledsoe. Did you see the game two weeks ago, when he bombed at least 2 50 yarders to Moss. This is almost the ridiculous TD I have seen. Not quite, because there are some completely retarded vote on TV shows and stuff like that, but in terms of sporting related, you almost win the prize.
