Does Ryan Grant count as a rookie or a second year player

I can argue either way, so you pick, and I'll argue against you.

I will go with rookie, since they don't consider players on the practice squad, actual players. Since they are hoping to get a spot on the active roster, they have to get other jobs in the community, town or city to help them along (wikipedia).

Grant was on the active roster, and in the NFL, unlike other leagues, you don't stay a rookie if you don't play. Romo did not play at all until last year, yet last year was not his rookie season. He only played in the practice squads, but not in any games, yet he was not kept as a rookie. The same applies to Grant. Both Romo and Grant were on the active roster, and both only saw action on the practice squads. Romo everyone agrees on was not a rookie last year, and he learned how to play when sitting on the bench. The same applies to Grant. He was not playing, but he learned how to play better by sitting out.

In 2005, Grant was on the Giants practice squad, not activated for any situation (why did they need to when they had Tiki in the backfield). And in 2006 he missed the entire season. And finally 2007, after GB lost pretty much every single RB on their active roster, then Grant finally got activated. He has been part of the NFL for 3 years now but has not been activated until this year, so that is why he is a rookie.

Seeing that you didn't want to participate in your own throwdown but I stand by my arguement.
But to finish this arguement, Romo was on the active roster, your right their but he was a 3rd string QB and on the active roster. Grant was never on any active roster until this year, after 3 yrs on either the practice squad or IR.

This needs to be cleared up, so that all TD's about rookies know if they can use Grant or not.

If you look on NFL.com under Players, Grant is listed as having 1 year experience.

I think you count as a rookie until 1 full year on the game day roster (not on practice squad).

Looking on NFL.com at AD, It listed him as a rookie. That means that NFL.com lists grant as a second year player who has 1 year of experience, i.e. not a rookie. I don't want what NFL.com says, because then this is not an argument, but a fact. This T.D. is on do people think Grant should be considered a rookie or a second year player. In reality he is listed as a second year player.

Grant is a rookie. Case closed. The NFL says:

Experience: 1st season

Done.

NFL says one year of experience for Grant, for rookies it says rookies. All stats on Grant are listed under 2nd year players, not rookies. That means that 1 year of experience is not teh same thing as being a rookie, Gruden. Any rookie is listed as a rookie on NFL.com, while Grant is listed as 1 year of experience. 1 year of experience means you have done it for over a year, NOT THAT THEY ARE IN THEIR FIRST YEAR.

Rookie if it is your first year on the game-day rosters.

Chad Greenway on the Vies is a second year player even though this is his first year on the gane-day roster. He was injured in the preseason and never played a game, but even with that he is not a rookie. That means that the same thing applied to Ryan Grant shows Grant is not a rookie
