The best thing for the players, to save their reputations would be to tell the truth.
THE TRUTH:
They only did what baseball wanted. They only did what the people signing their checks wanted. They only did what the fans wanted.
Fans, Owners, Baseball share 2 things in common:
They want 100 mph fastballs and they want 600 ft homeruns.
Thats the bottom line. These players need to come out and say it. If they say it people will have to realize it and they wont be crucified so much. Even Barry.
All these guys did was what they were being paid and loved to do. Why should they pay for that?

Actually, all they need to do is go back and play baseball in the spring. This will ALL blow over before spring training even starts. That's why they waited til now to release the report. Everyone is interested in the NFL playoffs. Most people are not thinking about baseball.
Besides, what difference would it make? its over, done, kaput. We knew they were using before the report came out. The report changes nothing. The league is now testing for the stuff, and suspending those that are caught. And that's what needs to be done anyway.
Lets move on.

This is not going to die until A-Rod beats the record. That only if A-Rod dosent fail a test between now and then. If Bonds is the all time home run leader then this is alive.
If the players involved, especially Bonds, would publicly state that all he did was what everyone wanted. Thats all. Its not like the owners and the league didnt know.
The best way for the players to move past this and go back to baseball is explain the root cause, not simply the symptom.

Actually the Bonds issue has been almost nonexistent in the media since the World Series started. Nobody cares anymore. He hit the homeruns, and that's what the record says. If he says he did it, nobody that hated him will start loving him, and nobody that loves him will start hating him. People's minds are already made up. Its a dead issue. Newsflash: In the late 90s and early 2000's, baseball players used steroids and bulked up. Lots of homeruns were hit. New at....well....see? Its not even news anymore.
The best way for the players to move past this is to move past it. Don't revisit it by discussing it. Its ovah.

I feel the way for the players to remove the dark cloud this has placed over them is simply to point out that:
They only did what the powers that be wanted.
The fans drive it. The owners and hte league make money. Bottom line.
Gruden crushes poker tables said 12/18, 04:58 PM
LOL, there is no dark cloud. There are NO surprises in this report. Everyone knew that steroids and HGH were used in mass quantities throughout pro sports, including baseball. People have said for years that Clemens and Bonds used steroids. This report says Clemens and Bonds used steroids. Umm....thanks.
The media storm is over. The news is deemed boring. Big guys used chemicals to hit the ball even further. The sun rises in the east. Chocolate is tasty. Beer is good. Please, move on.

No. I want them to lie to me. It feels so good when they lie.

Report Offensive CommentThese guys will never tell the whole story, just expect the "I did it b/c I was injured" over and over and over.
If you sit around trying to get more out of it you will just end up being let down. remember these are guys that cheated to get ahead in the sport, not exactly boy scouts here.
I agree with Gruden, what is done is done. come April lets just play ball.

Report Offensive CommentI like Clemens statement: I didn't break any rules. And that, in a nutshell, is the absolute truth.

Frank Pentangelli is READY | 12/18/07, 05:09 PM
Report Offensive CommentBrilliant Frank. Just brilliant. Nothing said when you jumped from 1-4, but I jump from 3 to 7 and you start accusing again. You're an idiot.

Report Offensive CommentBut to answer, my only other profile is TD Ninja, and as you can plainly see, TD Ninja didn't vote.

Report Offensive CommentBy the way, Mr Anders...I mean Frank, wouldn't it be easier to actually win a TD, than to spend time accusing others of cheating?
Gruden crushes poker tables | 12/18/07, 05:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentHe's 12-24. The chances of him making a legitimate argument are not very good.

Report Offensive CommentYeah, guess I missed that.

Report Offensive CommentThis is funny. I just realized that BIGGIED voted against me in this TD, meaning he thinks that if the players just admitted it, he'd forgive them. Yesterday he argued that all the players in the list should be banned permanently from the Hall of Fame. Wow, talk about a complete turnaround on forgiveness.
