Popular Daly grips it, zips it

The biggest draw in the PGA Tour's inaugural Ginn sur Mer Classic had little to say after Wednesday's pro-am. Maybe John Daly has a new motto: Grip it and zip it. Perhaps it was a practice round that lasted five hours, 11 minutes (with just three amateurs instead of the usual four). Or maybe it was the layout of the Arnold Palmer course that had Daly using his 3-wood more often than his usual weapon of choice, the driver. Or could it be he's just fed up after another mediocre season in which his best finish in 23 starts is 16th place at the Buick Open? "I don't have anything new to say to anybody," Daly told a PGA Tour media official when asked to stop for an interview. No quips, no controversial quotes from the player who, despite his poor play, will no doubt draw the biggest gallery in today's first round -- even with a 7:30 a.m. start.

Report Offensive CommentWhen Tiger participates in a tournament, his mindset is to win that tournament.John Daly's attitude is: just make the cut...get a check.Soon,if not already,he will have trouble doing just that.

Report Offensive CommentWhat does Daly care where he finishes. All his cash comes from endorsements. That and returning empty beer cans for deposit money.
