May 11, 2007  08:07 AM ET

Yea congratulations to Dirk and i also agree that next year he should develop into a leader

May 11, 2007  08:48 AM ET

no, i think nash should have won it. for one nash lead his team out of the 1st round while dirk sits at home and watches steve nash win the title, STEVE NASH GOT ROBBED!!!

May 11, 2007  09:20 AM ET

MVP is hard to choose this year, BUT considering that now a days it's just a popularity contest Dirk should get it because of what he did in the regular season..Nash didnt deserve the 2nd MVP that he got let alone a third one he shouldn't be in that company with those greats before Nash won his MVP trophy he was not going to the Hall and now me personally i still don't see it happening but since he's got some hardware he's a shoe-in from the minds of NBA execs but he is marketable, the band-aid on the noise thing is greatness i wish i would of came up with that..oh but my pick for MVP is KOBE BRYANT...

Dirk played outstanding this year, and while this award would be a great compliment to cap the year off, I'm sure he would have rather a championship ring instead.

May 11, 2007  10:19 AM ET

they give two MVP's every year, one for the Regular Season and one for the post season. The regular season was no contest, but the post season he choked. That is why Nash has got it over and over again

May 11, 2007  10:22 AM ET

NASH GOT ROBBED!!!! HOW CAN SOMEONE AT HOME WATCHING THE NBA PLAYOFFS SITTING ON THEIR COUCH WIN A MVP???????????????? YEAH THEY WON ALOT OF GAMES BUT IT DOESNT HELP WHEN THEY ALMOST GOT SWEPT IN THE FIRST ROUND.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 11, 2007  10:27 AM ET

Dirk better enjoy this one because its the last MVP he'll see in his career. After his first round series many voters admitted on national television that they wish they had their vote back. I think the only reason he won it was because voters were reluctant to make Steve Nash the MVP three times in a row when he hasn't had any playoff success either. Dirk is damaged good now and sports writers and voters are not going to buy what he does in the regular season next year. The MVP award has really fallen off, it used to go to a player that was capable of carrying their team to a championship.

Think Nash was at home when he got his while the Mavs where advancing to the finals last year. And Dirk is not a choker in the playoffs, need I point to the Spurs/Mavs series last year? The Warriors were just one of those teams that had the Mavs number, regular season and playoffs. Despite the playoffs, Dirk deserves the MVP nod.

May 11, 2007  10:29 AM ET

bad choice!!! and he proved that by tanking in the playoffs..i dont care about reg season..if nash did not win it the last 2 years he would of won it again. Congrats Dirk you on by default!!!!

May 11, 2007  10:36 AM ET

all the comments I've read say congratulations to the MVP but next year maybe he can develop into a leader, shouldn't the MVP already be a LEADER for his team?????

May 11, 2007  10:50 AM ET

As a Dallas Mavs fan, living in Dallas and all I must say two things.
1. I am happy that Dirk won the MVP this year as his play in the regular season warrants this prestigious award. I am very happy about his regular season play.
2. I'm freaking pissed at Wisky. As the leader of this team you must have the drive & the passion & the gonads to will your way to the goal and get the baskets or get to the line. He choked under pressure against a sub par team. I don't care the Nelly "has the Mavs number" or not. It was ridiculous. Utter pathetic play out of the #1 star of this team. His teamates fed off of what he gave them .. which was crappy basketball. Screw the MVP award for Dirk he & his team blew their chance just like in the finals last year.
Ok .. with that said ... go Mavs ..........

Nash went to the bank got held up and straight up robbed like a mother mother! whats going on!

This is a little bias i admit because i do hate nowitzki more than i hate spinache. and i really hate spinache.

All of this Nash talk...SHUT UP already !!...I mean I love hype as much as anyone but..need I remind you MORONS that Kobe is 1st team all NBA defensive team, 1st team all NBA, and the Leagues leading scorer. He carried a group of cba players to the playoffs on his back..Steve Nash is a great facilitator but he plays NO DEFENSE..do you idiots understand that YOU CANNOT BE THE LEAGUES MVP WITHOUT PLAYING DEFENSE..it doesnt matter if you personally like Kobe or not..that has nothing to do with his game...I mean this is purely racial..and I'm not one to play the race card..the MVP is not a popularity contest otherwise how could Karl Malone ever had won it.. What makes nash better than John Stockton ?? exactly....and stockton was always amongst the league leaders in steals...This steve nash bull---t is ruining the game for us basketball purest who believe that a player must play on both sides of the court to be considered a league MVP. neither nash nor Dirk deserve the MVP...I have but one question for any honest MAN out there.. Your a coach, you have Nash, Dirk and Kobe on your team, your team is down 1 point, there are 4 seconds on the clock, who do you want to take that shot ?? just like I thought .....thats an MVP

May 11, 2007  11:02 AM ET

KOBE KOBE KOBE!!! Hey they both got knocked out first round. Why not Kobe anymore?

May 11, 2007  11:03 AM ET

The MVP is a joke now....purely a popularity contest..it's ridiculous

May 11, 2007  11:16 AM ET

i think dirk doesnt deserve to be named MVP because he choke in the playoffs i think nash or lebron james deserves to be MVP because they qualify to the 2nd round!!MVP dont choke in the playoffs!!that is the 1st time i saw a winning Mvp got eliminated in the 1st round and chokes in the playoffss thats discusting MAN!!!!

May 11, 2007  11:27 AM ET

The NBA has screwed up this award. In the NHL, the MVP is typically the best player in the league. Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league. If you take him off the Lakers, they would win no more than 10 games. He is far more valuable for the Lakers to win (albeit 42 games) than it is for Nash or Dirk to win for their respective teams.
Also, the why is it MVP voters only figure in offense for MVP??? Dirk is a liability on the defensive end! (Nash isnt that bad on D)..

Great Comment Antonio ! You are my Brother !

Getting a bit tired of all this Nash Gash hype for MVP as well.
I like the guy, and greatly admire his talent, and poise and
believe that if they had a point guard Trophy, he deserves it
hands down. {Hey why not have a Trophy for every position ?}

For those that are not aware, MVP is for the regular season only,
so first round and out in the playoffs is meaningless, for Dirk,
Kobe or anyone.
