Suns center Amare Stoudemire placed Bruce Bowen squarely at the vortex of a controversy. Stoudemire accused Bowen of intentionally trying to injure him during Phoenix's 101-81 Game 2 victory. Stoudemire called the Spurs a "dirty team," and included Manu Ginobili among those who engage in unfair tactics.

Stoudemire should stop complaining and take his play up a notch. He is playing tremendous but no where near where he was playing 2 years ago when he just dominated my spurs and tim duncan. But then again its does not matter cause the spurs are gonna win the series

May 11, 2007  08:05 AM ET

Stoudemire can still dominate over tim duncan and everyone else. Oh yea and i have the suns winning 4-3

I am a SUNS fan to the hurt and I love there style of play, but this isn't the first time we have heard about the dirty play of Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobili...... I will say I think they are both good defenders, but you have to draw the line at some point. There is a difference in a great defender and a good defender, Bowen and Ginobili good defenders only because they do play a dirty style of basketball. As far as things being intentional, I won't call it that but I will say they over play a little to much, will make it seems intention in many ways ....... SUNS 4-2 .......... Amare will play like the Amare of old starting at this point..........

At first I thought Amare was just whining, but after seeing the video on YouTube, it looks really dirty. Bowen kicks at his leg after Amare has already passed him. It is a blatant kick from behind the back. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc4yz__akIU While I'm admittedly biased as I'm a Suns fan, I think the league should crack down on such blatant attempts to injure another player.

WELL ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT IS THEY CALLED MICHAEL JORDAN A DIRTY PLAYER, BUT DID THAT MAKE HIM A POOR DEFENDER AMARE IS JUST JUMPING ON THE RAY ALLEN BAND WAGON ITS INEVITABLE HES A GOOD PLAYER BUT HE IS BEING TAKEN OUT OF HIS GAME AND IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A FUSTRATION ISSUE THAN A CHEAP SHOT AT THE WELL KNOWN SPURS DEFENSE SPURS TAKE IT IN SEVEN

May 11, 2007  09:29 AM ET

So...you in the NBA he don't play dirty

May 11, 2007  09:35 AM ET

BUSTED!! good lookin' out on the video...rballs.

May 11, 2007  09:39 AM ET

Oh I just saw the video....I retrack that statement...that is a dirty move...

May 11, 2007  09:41 AM ET

Saw the replay on GooTube and took the time to search out all other dirty little Bowen antics. No doubt it was diliberate. Here's a Bowen motto: "If you can't keep up with them, hurt them". Suns in 6 - love that break-neck style

May 11, 2007  09:49 AM ET

Dude,
It's a simple fact... Not everyone can tell the same lie. Dirty or not, he must be doing something to illicit the responses and comments against him. Personally, I do believe he's a dirty player. A sneaky, dirty player. He makes whatever happens look incidental, but on closer inspection, you know it isn't. I don't doubt that he's a good defender, but it's those "incidental" things that make him a dirty player. Learning the game on the playgrounds of N.Y.C. where "incidental contact" is an art form [*laugh*], you see the difference. An "incidental" elbow to the nose of someone who's guarding you too close can be explained. Undercutting someone, swipping a jumping players legs, kicking someone in the back, setting your foot under someone taking a jumpshot, is dirty. 'Nuff said.

Amare is an immature whiner--always has been. Watch the replay full speed and it is clear that Bowen is retreating full bore in an effort to get back to make defensive play. That is why his leg is extended. He actually starts to go up but when he realizes he is not in time, he backs off and doesn't undercut as he easily could have. Kobe has it right. Bowen is a great perimeter defender and the rest is crybaby stuff by egotistical losers ---read Ray Allen-- who simply can't stand getting shut down and are trying to get refs to take Bowen out of his game because they can't beat him themselves.

Stop crying like a baby!!! Welcome to the Big League. You are lucky you did not play during the 70's,80's and mid 90's

May 11, 2007  10:54 AM ET

Amare shouldn't whine, but i have no room to talk with that kind of money relying on my legs i would complain too. Let's face it the Spurs are getting old, they have to find some way to win. That doesn't mean that Bowen is the only player who does this but after seeing the video some action needs to take place especailly who takes as much pride in his D as Bowen does. But don't knock Amare either, i mean the guy playing opposite of him is the same guy who said that all the refs in the L are out to get him.

May 11, 2007  11:07 AM ET

Amare is a power forward and little bruce bowen is making him cry... . boo hoo !! ...I hate to see what would have happened if Rick Mahorn or laimbeer or charles oakley would have gotten ahold of him...what a girl

May 11, 2007  11:14 AM ET

A PowerForward whining about a guard. Amare should just get even when Bowen goes into the lane. I agree with ANTONIO & Jenks1st1.
If he played with 70's 80's or 90's players like Rick Mahorn, Charles Oakley & Jerry Sloan (Utah's coach). Amare still thinking about his knee. Amare plays with Raja Bell, another saint. Way to go!! Spurs in 6

May 11, 2007  11:18 AM ET

Looks like to me he's trying that old school yard trick of pulling
holding down a jumper by toeing a shoe heel, which would
pull the back of his shoe off.

Dirty Yes.

However lot's of dirty tricks go on in every game. Jersey pulls,
bent knees in running lanes, trips, flopping, flailing, ect. ect.
{And the worst ? Read my blog and comment }

What I'm disappointed at however is Amare's attitude, which
is akin to running to the principals office. Snitching, Tattling,
Ratting.

This won't bode well for him, or the team which is in a fight
for their lives now and possibly Nash's last chance to obtain
his coveted ultimate prize... A Ring !

Stu Jackson is foaming at the mouth to levy another suspension!!
Bowen definitely plays it like its unintentional, but he is dirty.. I wonder how bad he'd feel if he actually ruptured someones achilles or broke someones ankle?

May 11, 2007  11:38 AM ET

amare is not a whiner .....all of u would have something to say if u played just 3 games last year because of a serious injury....u would not want to get hurt again because u would know the terrible feeling of not gettitng to play the sport u love and then u would know how amare feels...plain and simple .....bruce bowen is a dirty player

May 11, 2007  11:42 AM ET

I'm a true Suns fan and think they'll win in 7. As for Bowen, I think there's been enough smoke around him for a while to know there's fire. He's a great defender who occasionally resorts to less than "Classy" tactics. With that said, Amare should have kept his mouth shut and retaliate by dominating the Spurs.

Stoudamire is a P***Y, grow some balls!!!
wimp, wuss, quitter, high school drop-out, soft, overpaid, pathetic, fragile, coward, scrawny, little gurl. No wonder he plays for the nba.
