False report irritates Pujols

Posted: Tuesday January 22, 2008 06:42AM ET

Albert Pujols said the nagging injuries to his body have abated. He is less certain how he will recover from what he sees as damage to his reputation. The Cardinals first baseman and a Most Valuable Player award winner was calm, pointed and clearly irritated as he spoke publicly Monday for the first time about an erroneous news report in December that linked him to an investigation on the use of performance-enhancing drugs in professional baseball. "They ruined my image."

AT 6'3" 230 lbs, his image ruined his image.... enough said

This is why MLB and players union must move quickly to get a completly independent testing program in place. This must be done now.

There is no proof of any kind that Pujols is involved in anything against the rules or illegal. Unfortunately, without the tough testing and penalties in place exceptional players will be unfair targets for anyone who wants thier "tabloid article" read.

Albert is innocent of any steroid - HGH crap so don't even start! My husband is 6'5" and 250 - and he's never taken any of that so size has nothing to do with it!

Report Offensive Comment

I'm with you, book.

My husband goes 4 bills easy.

He's got more chins than a Chinese phone book.

Never taken a steroid in his life unless someone spiked his Cheetos and cupcakes.

I'm 6'3" 225, I did it with cheese cake

Albert is innocent. I am 6'3" 255. I lift regularly. I use nothing other than GNC protein.

Oh, and I am a die hard Cubs fan too.

What the hell is this?

The Dan Patrick Show?

" More chins than a Chinese phone book "........now that's good!

Thank you, Pants.

I don't blame Pujols for what he did. Like I said in another blog this whole steroid thing - accusations, denials, assumptions - reminds me of another "historic" time in U.S. history - THE SALEM WITCH HUNTS !!!!!!

Report Offensive Comment

6'3" 230 is nothing nowdays some quarterbacks are bigger then that.

Report Offensive Comment

Except they didn't have cancelled checks and FedEx bills during the Salem witch trials.

Report Offensive Comment

pujols, dont worry about it. everyone knows the person you are and that you wouldnt do that.

Since when do players or teams get to demand who can or can not attend press conferences? That sounds a little wrong to me somehow. Pujols doesn't have to acknowledge or answer any questions from that media source but banning them from a supposed open press conference sounds like it should violate some type type of rule or something.

Report Offensive Comment

And you want to know how to stop any type of unfair press and innuendo? Independent testing.

Report Offensive Comment

Albert acts just like Clemens. Why?

Report Offensive Comment

We'll see about Pujols. The investigations are ongoing. One thing I've learned during this entire era, is that where there is smoke, there is fire.

Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

Albert had better be clean, because if he isn't, we'll know about it eventually.

Did you lose another bet 4192jc?

I have no problem with shutting the station out once. They went way over the top with their programming for an unsubstantiated report. They didn't even stop the hour long program until 30 minutes after the real list came out. They just barreled right along as if he had been on the list.

Will anyone ever be cleared? How will we do that?

CardsFan2: independent testing and yes I did. (sigh) but will they be cleared now before the fact of independent testing? No, I guess not. there will always be that cloud over the game for this time period. We can only make sure the game is clean going forward if the powers that be finally have the common sense to initate the methodology to do so.
