Peter Forsberg practiced with his hometown team Monday in what was seen as a possible sign of a comeback. The 34-year-old Forsberg has been sidelined with a foot and ankle injury since finishing last season with the Predators. But Sweden coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson said last week that the forward may try to play in the LG Hockey Games in Stockholm between Feb. 7-10.

he hurts himself again, he's done. If he can get through that tourney relatively pain free, we'll see a team in the NHL take a gamble on him, but if he goes down again, I'd say we'll never see Foppa in the N again. You hate to see a player's career end because of injury like this, so, I'll be cheering for him...at least until he signs with an NHL team, then, its all up for grabs!

As an Avs fan, I say if he's relatively healthy, the Avs should take a shot at him, given all their injuries, especially if the young guns can keep them in the race. A gimpy Forsberg is better than no Sakic/Smyth/Stastny. Plus the Avs have the cap room. I've said all along that Foppa should sign and retire in an Avs sweater. The long Av IR almost mandates it now.

As a hockey fan in general, like goCanada, I hope he can finish his outstanding career on the ice anywhere rather than on the "unable to perform" list.

he should just sign with a damn beer league, and get on with his life.this way he can play when he wants .he is way too big a risk for any team, and would be put under a microscope by the fans of the team he goes too.he doesn,t need the aggravation, and i don,t believe he needs the dough.
if the nhl cant get out of his blood, he can try out as an assistant somewhere,i,m sure a lot of teams would give him a shot.good luck to him.

He already tried at a charity game and he had to leave THAT game. How many more games is he going to re-injure himself trying to prove to himself that his ankles are good? Its a sad story.

Too bad you guys didn't get European players during the Bobby Clarke era. You might have one more cups.

January 22, 2008  03:21 PM ET

learn how to spell JerseySpartan, it would've been "WON" more cups. And i think we have just three or four euro players in our line up right now and hey, we're pretty darn good. eat it.

Plus, most euro players either whine too much are get injured too much, not like us, brute north americans.

Let's welcome the Flyer's dynasty!

One word spelled incorrectly. Typical Philly fan. Haven't won jack in ages. You can talk that smack when you have ten Stanley Cups.

The reason why the Flyers didn't win during Clarke's era was goaltending. Simple as that.
