Santana offers diminishing

The Twins say they're not panicking while holding out for the best deal for Johan Santana. But word within baseball circles is that offers by the Yankees (no more Phil Hughes) and Red Sox are diminishing by the week. Best bet now for a trade of the two-time Cy Young Award winner appears to be with the Mets in a deal that would not include fast-rising hitter Fernando Martinez."

Report Offensive CommentThe way the Twins GM is handling this deal I would not be surprised if Santana pulls out his no trade clause and waits until he becomes a free agent.

Report Offensive CommentHo hum, spring training hasn't even begun yet. Twins haven't overplayed anything yet. No one knows what they are really thinking.

Report Offensive CommentIf Santana wants to be a top dog and take over a city then all he needs to do is pray he gets dealt tothe Mets and then sign with the Mets long term. Omar will pay him the dollars. He would instantly propel the Mets to being the favorite in that divison. He would just need to continue posting his average seasonal numbers to beome a savior for a team that is looking for a leader on that pitching staff. The added advatage is that the Mets other pitchers suddenly do not have to press and can relax a bit when it is there turn to take the ball. It won't seem as if every game is do or die any more. Santana is much more important to the Mets than either the Yanks or the Red Sox in my opinion. And, I believe Sanatna wil be ridiculously good in the National League with out the DH to face. This whole scenario is to the Mets advantage if the Twins are really serious about trading Mr. Santana.

Report Offensive CommentI really hope this is more truth than rumor. I want Hughes to remain a Yankee.

Report Offensive CommentThis is getting pretty old now. I love the Twins but they do need to pull the trigger and get it over with. They will trade him to the Mets and then the Yankees will say will would have given what you wanted...I can just see them doing that. I'm not impressed with anything the Mets have but the Twins can't afford to keep him and need to get something for him!!!
