Isiah considering multiple Knicks deals

With five first-rounders on the roster from the past two drafts, plus Randolph Morris, Isiah Thomas can afford to trade the pick. Thomas plans to investigate multiple scenarios - making offers for big men Jermaine O'Neal, Pau Gasol and Kevin Garnett. Channing Frye, Francis, Malik Rose and Jerome James will be shopped religiously. Thomas will do his due diligence on Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and Charlotte's Gerald Wallace.

Although Zeke is a wolf in sheep's clothing (he's been that way since I saw him playing high school ball in Chicago at St. Joseph's and later at Indiana). He was a great player but also a dirty player. With that fake smile and the kisses with Magic at half court...yowsa...Joe Dumars was and is the class of the Piston organization -- this is coming from a Bulls fan. All that being said, Zeke made a wise move in trading for Eddy Curry -- the Bulls were idiots to give up on the only low post scoring threat in the Eastern Conference outside of the aged Shack. If I was Zeke I'd make a run at Jermaine O'Neal, as Curry doesn't give him the rebounding the Knicks are lacking. I think he could package a group of players and picks for a Pacer team in need of a total rebuild. Zeke I respect your oncourt accomplishments and some of your personnel moves, just wish that as a fellow Chicago, you could have played a cleaner game. And you know what i mean.

They do not have nearly enough to get KG or J. O'Neal.... Wishful thinking..

May 29, 2007  09:40 AM ET

Why is this news? Isiah is a piece of carp, so is Jim Dolan. They were made for each other. Until BOTH are gone the Knicks will SUCK. NEXT TOPIC!

May 29, 2007  09:43 AM ET

Hey Grant,

Rumor is that Isiah gave Magic the AIDS virus. Dolan and Thomas are cut of the same mold. ONLY because of others they have ever been successful at anything, On their own, they suck at everything. Dolan has run the Knicks into the ground. Thomas ran the CBA into the ground.

Who wants Channing Frye, Steve Francis, Malik Rose and Jerome James?

No one.

I don't know anyone on the Knicks that other teams would see as a future starter on a championship team, or as cap relief.

May 29, 2007  10:39 AM ET

You guy???s should really stop listening to sports radio and watch a game. No value on the Knick???s thorn wanted Frye & Blankmen at the trade deadline. Before Seattle got the # 2 pick, there was a deal to send Nate for a first, if the first was above pick 10. If you watched Collins playing in the 06 summer league, then at the beginning of the season and then the last 10 games of the season, you would see value. The best thing Zeke does in draft. Watch a games before you talk.

May 29, 2007  11:44 AM ET

liontut, as a new yorker who is subjected to Knicks games regularly, I recommend you seek immediate treatment for whatever drug you're abusing.

'06 summer league? Nate Robinson (5'9 SG averaging 10 pts on 43%) for a first rounder? The best thing Zeke does is draft? Are you listening to yourself?

The Knicks roster is an absolute train wreck, moving in slow motion for at least two more years (when Francis and Marbury's contracts expire, assuming Isaiah doesn't trade their expiring contracts next year for 31-year-old Vince Carter or something). There's some okay players that would be great role-players on other teams, but nothing of any real value, certainly not the kind of value to land a real All-Star (especially one under 30).

May 29, 2007  12:29 PM ET

Isiah was not a dirty player. He played with heart and passion and has a competitive edge matched only by Jordan. Isiah has taken a bad rap on the CBA, as it was in trouble long before he bought it and tried - unsuccessfully due in large part to the NBA big wigs - to turn it into a minor league for the NBA. No one really knows Isiah except perhaps his mom, kids and family. Everything we think and know as fans has been filtered by the media and Zeke's competitors.

Pound for pound, inch for inch, Isiah was the best little man to ever pick up a basketball and yes that means better than Stockton and K.J. He has an eye for talent and is starting to turn things around in New York.

Comments such as "??? the rumor is that Isiah gave Magic aids" are ignorant and speak exactly to my point. No one really knows isiah's heart and mind and I for one wish him and the Knicks well.

ILL RATHER WATCH PAINT DRY OR THE GRASS GROW BEFORE I CAN EVN WATCH THE KNICKS. THIS TEAM IS SUCH A MESS.

May 29, 2007  12:43 PM ET

well its clear that you guys are all a bunch of **** ... isiah improved as dolan told him to in the win column.. hes been a super recruiter brining in powerhouse curry ... along with a great draft .. all the players hes brought have been the reason the knicks were even contendin for the 8th spot until the injuries .. hes brought in richardson (who is solid when healthy), curry, frye, lee, robinson, balkman, collins, morris. NOW talk some **** bout him .. he may not have done great with francis or james .. but hes been doin a heck fo a job making curry into an animal and makin marbury back into starbury .. tradin the pick is smart since we picked up morris and gettin a gasol or o'neal is ideal for isiah. playoff basketball at the garden will be back next year

May 29, 2007  12:48 PM ET

KNICKS...WHAT A SAD TEAM. THEY ARE IN A MISS. WHO'S WORSE THOUGH...LAKERS OR THE KNICKS? THEY BOTH GOT BIG PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH.

May 29, 2007  01:27 PM ET

Whoever referred to Renaldo Balkman as 'Blankmen' really has lost his or her mind. Anyway...the Knicks are in what we call salary cap hell. And if Isiah can make the team good enough to play 2 home playoff games and go home, Dolan considers it a success. So there really is no hope in sight. I'd let this team run out the next 5 years and re-gain cap mobility. Only then will we be able to acquire the talent to make this team NBA-worthy again.

If they played in the West they would have 60 losses a season. No joke.

I specifically talked about collins in the summer league. Collins looks lost in the summer league. In the beginning of the year Collins showed some defense. The last 10 games of the season, Collins showed he belongs in the NBA. The last 5 games Collins played 15 and 6 ball.

As for value, maybe you should talk to Rob Thorn of the nets. Carter is an all-start, and the knicks could have gotten his for frye and blankmen. The knicks are a small forward away from 43 to 48 wins. Depending on the small forward, the knicks could be 2 years away from making noise. They could have made the play-off this year, if not for injuries. Artest is the short term answer.

Keep listening to the FAN for your Basketball opinions. You are basically showing everyone your basketball IQ.

For the record I don???t Smoke or Drink. I fight for this country

Did I fall asleep and wake up in a different universe? The Bulls made a pretty good run in the playoffs the last two years since Curry's been gone, and if I'm not mistaken, the Knicks haven't even smelled the playoffs yet. New York pays more salary in the luxury tax than the Bobcats spend to pay their ROSTER, none of their "stars" (Francis, Marbury, Curry, Quentin Richardson) has half the heart of their backups (Lee, Robinson, Frye, even Balkman- long on heart, short on talent), the team improves a whopping TEN games (from 23-59, to 33-49) and suddenly Isaiah is doing a good job as GM. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

If he manages a trade for any of these guys with the garbage he's got on the roster, (plus the Bulls's pick, which may be a real value at #24) then I'll tip my hat to him.

I don't wear a hat.

Soul Brethren you sound like a phuqing idiot and you don't know what the phuq you're talking about. If you're going to talk chyt at least make sense while doing it (WHAT A LOSER).

May 29, 2007  01:31 PM ET

That would not be a smart move for the knicks to try to take on kevin garrnetts big contract at his age he will be 32 next season which means he only will have a few more good seasons left.I think the knicks should just wait until francis marbury and jerome james contracts expire than they will have caproom to get a Josh Howard type of player he is alot younger and can rebound and score 20 points and grab 20 boards at times i think they should go after him.Other than that i think the knicks should just not even try to trade anybody this year just draft their pick and leave it alone this year.Because all the caproom the team will have in the next couple of years they can get a young superstar or two on the team.

May 29, 2007  01:38 PM ET

THE KNICKS HAVE THE TALENT BUT NO CHEMISTRY THEY DONT PLAY TEAM BASKETBALL THEY CAN LEARN SOMETHING FROM THE SAN ANTOINO SPURS

May 29, 2007  01:40 PM ET

This isn't news. of course he is investigating trades, he has the most poorly assembled roster in the NBA. Which is sad becuase there is a little talent on this team it is just that the talent is at the same position or the fact that they have one decent role player(david lee) and a bunch of players thatwant to be the man.

May 29, 2007  01:42 PM ET

Hey, liontut, thats all fine and good. But using that to defend yourself doesn't substitute sounding like a toolbag. Everyone appreciates veterans and there is no lack of respect for the sacrifice it takes to fight for the country.

But you called Balkman Blankman a few times (the 2 words are hardly similar), and you're the one who sounds like hes on the FAN all day.

Let me break it down for you simply. Our only trade pieces with value right now are Channing Frye and Balkman. Thats it. Nobody wants anyone else on our team unless someone has an expired contract I dont know about. Also, it will take more than those 2...maybe even alot more...2 get someone like O'Neill or Garnett. Simply put, as I stated earlier, the Knicks are a quagmire that requires 5 years of horrible play and fiscal sanity to bring this team back from the dead.

The Knicks were good for so long, and Layden did a poor job of building off of that success. All the Knicks problems began with Ewings trade, and the Allan Houston deal. Without those two gaffes, i doubt if things would be as bad. Patience is what fans of the Knicks need, this team was a mess when Zeke picked it up, now he has mades some strange moves, James, Francis (although most know that was LB's wish) and to an extent the signing of Jeffries. NY needs to add some defense in the post, shot blocker, and a shooter. Another summer for Curry should do wonders for him. IMO there are more positives than negatives, and if David Lee and JC were healthy NY wouldhave been in the playoffs last season...
