Another Hoyas player will transfer
Posted: Thursday May 08, 2008 06:30AM ET
Georgetown guard Jeremiah Rivers has decided to transfer, becoming the second Hoyas reserve to leave the program since the season ended. Rivers's classmate, forward Vernon Macklin, announced his intention to leave in late April and reportedly plans to enroll at Florida. The two departures, coupled with the graduation of four seniors, leave the Hoyas with just four players who played significant minutes for the Big East regular season champion.

Looks like Billy is bringing in kids that will push the current team. I think the Gators can make some noise next year, especially if Speights returns. With the great class coming in and these transfers, and with Tennessee losing a bunch of players, they might be able to take the SEC next year.

Report Offensive CommentGeorgetown may not be the power that everyone thinks it is. Although Gtown is one of the most storied programs in the Big East, they do not have the tradition or prestige that other northern/mid-eastern teams have, such as Indiana. Gtown???s academics may have been a factor in this player???s decision to transfer, but the demographics of the university were probably bigger factors. With the addition of Louisville and Marquette, as well as the resent revival of Notre Dame and West Virginia, Gtown is going to have its work cut out for them if they want to continue to attract great basketball talent that will complement its system. It seems that many of the young ballers want to go to a school in the sunny states.

Report Offensive CommentLooks like Rivers will be headed up North to be close to his father in Boston. Now the interesting question will be what school. UMass is loaded with guards and at this point I don't think it'd be an option unless his pops would be willing to dish out his tuition as a tax write off.

Report Offensive CommentRivers is dumb for transferring-
finish up at g'town, get a diploma from a quality school - he's not a big time college player, and there is no chane he'd EVER be a possible nba'er-
so enjoy college life, then you can get a job as an assistant somewhere, then maybe a head coach one day- because of your pedigree

Report Offensive CommentI didn't see this coming at all. Wouldn't he be getting a pretty good amount of PT had he stayed at G'Town?
