Daly considers playing European Tour full-time

Posted: Tuesday May 13, 2008 11:08AM ET

John Daly won't be competing in this week's Irish Open but Europe may soon see more of the embattled American as he's considering playing full-time on the European Tour. Daly, who is without a Tour card in the USA but has a two-year exemption for the European Tour, said: "I would not rule out playing a full season in Europe because there is just so many courses on the PGA Tour where you can't hit driver like you can in Europe."

This is a good idea.... Monty has already set the precendent that a guy with moobs and a personality disorder can be successful over there...

Not to mention the buffets. Did I mention the buffets? BTW, the buffets are terrific.

I think the PGA would sponser him to play in Europe and stay out of their hair. I think the game could use a better image than he is willing to participate in. Let him stay over there.

Are there any post-surgery pics of his stomach or is this it.

Church Lady .... you've come over to the Golf thread.... must be really bad out there.... I usually to this solo..... kind of like most other experiences I have these days.....

Daly is good for the game. He's not a corporate robot like some of the other players. He's a rebel. The European tour would be good for him. It's a little more laid back over there. He still has two majors and Butch Harmon doesn't.

Report Offensive Comment

The only major you'll see from Daly, in the future, is major gastric bypass surgery..... Europe will be good for him..... Americans are tired if his "rebel" act (if that's what you call it).... it's only cute if you make a cut once in a while... otherwise, it's pathetic....

He's not a rebel. He's a fat drunk. There's a difference.

And Butch Harmon doesn't have championships? Then neither does Phil Jackson, Joe Torre or Casey Stengel. When the player wins, the coach wins too.

His drinking will go over much better in EU.

Do they have Hooters in Europe?

Report Offensive Comment

He can't handle going without the food, they don't have buffet's over there John!

Report Offensive Comment

No Hooters, no buffet-style restaurants, no 24 oz. cans of Keystone Ice. This move makes no sense, J.D. Don't do it!

Great. What a contribution America is giving the European public.

That's like sending Barnam and Bailey to the Euros. They'll eventually view him like we do and he'll come home to do corporate sponsor outings and other circus events in the U.S. again.

Maybe the Golf Channel idiots can come up with another show for him.

Well said!

Most of Daly's fans are drunken slobs themselves. I've been to a few tournaments where Daly was in the field. As I followed the action I noticed the people who were hooting and hollering for Daly were, almost to a man/woman, stumbling, sloppy drunk - real pigs.

How can you play golf "full time" and drink "full time"? Two full time jobs! Wow. He's found his inspiration!!

Report Offensive Comment

They have a better version of Hooters over in Blimeyland: Honkers. Daly follows them around like a hound.

Butch Harmon, Phil Jackson, Joe Torre, and Casey Stengal are all legends. They are all great coaches. I'm a fan of all of them, but golf is a individual sport. Coach's names don't go on the trophies in golf. Why couldn't Harmon handle the Daly thing in private?

When you really think about it, there's probably a pretty good movie in this!
