It's Not!

If Donadoni does well at Euro, he's not going anywhere. Also, if Milan qualifies for the Champs League this sunday (a slim chance, but a chance!) then Carletto's not going anywhere. Him and Galliani are good friends and this past season isn't really indicative of his managerial prowess.

Report Offensive Comment

his coaching isnt the reason why Milan will miss out on the champs league. I dont think he should leave. But seeing him coach Italy would be awesome

Report Offensive Comment

Man City? What is that, an all-inclusive for the Village People?

Report Offensive Comment

Does Thaskin have enough money to get rid of Sven and hire Ancelotti? Anyway like Gravity said if Donadoni does well in Euro 2008 the Azzuri job is off of the table.

Report Offensive Comment

this is a really tough choice for this guy. Whatever you do ,dont go to Man City. Stay at AC Milan or go coach the National team.

Report Offensive Comment

I dont think he's leaving either, but i dont think City should get him personally.

I think a mourinho or a rijkaard would fit better at city

Report Offensive Comment

Any attacking coach would work in the EPL all they want to do is score goals

Man City is a club for someone established and carrer ending. City has money, lacks team and reputation. Ancelotti is a good coach, so why not?
After this season, if AC Milan doesn't make it to UCL, he's gone. UCL means everything to europeans giants.

Report Offensive Comment

By the way, when I said carrer ending, i refer to the manager not the club itself

Report Offensive Comment

Groan. Another non-story. Man City will appoint Luiz Felipe Scolari if Sven is sacked. This has been all but confirmed in the UK press, so you Yanks should hear about it say 2013 they way your football news comes through?

Thats a pretty ill informed point. Just to put the record straight- Man City is not for managers reaching the end of their career, they are now a major spending force in world football (just as long as Thaksin doesnt get banged up 15 to a cell in a dodgy Thai prison), they have some of the most loyal fans in the world (which cant be said about the glory supporters on the other side of Manchester), good history, ambition, a great stadium and some fantastic young talent in their squad. This is coming from an Arsenal fan, but I have to admire them after they did the double over M**chester U****d this year. That should be enough to save any City managers job, but Thaksin is clueless! Thats what foreign investment does to your club, and thats why we dont want it at Arsenal

Have you seen Man City squad? There's nice team but there's no one in europe, none titles in 20/30 years. Spend doesn't mean nothing. Chelsea is now respect due to Mourinho's work (due to Abramovich's money) , before Mourinho, Chelsea was seen a second tier team.
Man City is seen as a third tier team. In my opinion, I think a guy like Ancelotti, who played several UCL finals and has european experience, which I don't think the last ones had (less SG Erikson), and don't say English coaches because the 4 best teams in England have foreign managers for a reason.
You win money in EPL but you win respect at UCL (and UEFA Cup)

And again when I said "Man City is a club for someone established and carrer ending", I meant that I think they need someone established and with a big carrer but had better days (ex: Capello for England).
By the way, I'm not critising the fans or conditions, but Manchester City isn't yet a big team. Moeny isn't everything
1 last thought: just winning 2 games against your biggest rival doesn't mean that's a good season! I, as a FC Porto fan, I rather lose 2 games to Benfica (which happen last year) and win the title, than the reverse.

Yawn. Come to England mate to set the record straight, Man City ARE considered a big club here as they have a lot of history, certainly more so than the likes of Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle etc (so-called 'big' clubs). A double over United is massive for a team like Man City that hasnt had any success recently, having bragging rights over your city rivals (and League Champions!) is almost like a title win for City fans. Before Mourinho, Chelsea were not considered a second tier team at all, they were challenging for a title under the stewardship of Gianluca Vialli. Mourinho isnt God despite what you Portuguese think.

Obviously as an FC Porto fan who would rather lose to your biggest rivals (I certainly, as an Arsenal fan, would never ever say that I would like to lose to Tottenham) your not exactly qualified to comment on the Premiership.

Are you kidding? Chelsea didn't win for 50 YEARS! 1st year - 1st win in 50 YEARS. GOT THAT. Man City is a nice club but that's it.For the future, who knows?
You'll remember TITLES not defeats. That's why I rather win titles than rivals.
By the way, how many titles does Man Citu won lately?
Mourinho isn't god but he's sure great.
There's a reason for the top 4 EPL teams have a foreigners coaches? Harry Redknapp won his 1st title and he's considered 1 of the best English coach. That's the best you can do?
By way, Man Utd aren't really crying for the defeats against Man City - UCL (maybe next days) and Premier League Title.

Mate for god sake you are totally clueless. You are arguing with somebody who lives and breathes English football all day- you said yourself you are a Porto fan, you obviously dont live in England so you wont know. Chelsea won various other titles such as the FA cup and Cup Winners Cup. And **** is the EPL anyway? Ive never heard the PREMIERSHIP referred to as the EPL.

Yes United fans here are bitter about losing to City, dont tell me otherwise mate because you only know what you read on the net. Which is 95% rubbish if this website is anything to go by. And while we are here- how many World Cups have Portugal ever won? How many Champions League titles have Portuguese clubs ever won? because last time I checked, your still behind England on that respect as well!

Report Offensive Comment

You've won 1 World Cup in 1966, in England. I wasn't even born, were you? Or even better, can you remember that? By the way, Portugal eliminated England in the last World Cup & Eurocup.
English teams have more money. So it's easier to hire better players,(there're not going to England because of the weather),
And you might breath english football but Ancelotti doesn't see the English perspective, he probably sees Man City like me. Right? By the way, Man City won its first European Spot in 25 YEARS due to "Fair Play Rating". Do I have to say much more? Reputation means nothing in a situation like this. I see Man City has third tier team still, but who knows in the future?
England FAILED TO QUALIFY to the Euro. You were great, now not really.
By the way, Don't COMPARE FA CUP with UCL. There's a reason why Cup Winners Cup was extint. Lack of interest. Chelsea even played UCL before Abramovich but the only reason they didn't bankrupt was Abramovich. But the reputation they have now compared to they had with Zola, , This team did a 2nd place in 03/04 and a 3rd in 98/99 in 11 YEARS. Do you still compare ? Chelsea was more of a surprise than a title contender. I was a kid but I was a huge fan of Zola (and Faustino Asprilla duo), back when he was at Parma. And I still recall how sorry I felt that he was at Chelsea.
Now, Chelsea is at 5/6 years in a row at Semi/Quarter Finals of the UCL. And this year made it to the final. They've finished in 1st or 2nd in the last 5 YEARS. Now this is a first tier team. it's not the getting there, is the keeping up with the pace.
Of course, Man Utd fans didn't like to lose but if they had to choose between losing to Man City but win the Premier League or the oposite, I have no doubt that they rather win the Premier League and lose to Man City.

Your missing the point. World Cups for England 1, World Cups for Portugal 0. Portugal still havent won anything ever. And you still havent said how may Portuguese clubs have won the Champions League. English clubs have provided 6 of the last 8 finalists. And its nothing to do with money, Arsenal managed to get to the final in a season where FC Porto spent more on transfer fees than them! Manchester United won the Champions League in 1999 without spending hardly anything! so dont give me that bull about English clubs having more money, Portuguese football is still vastly inferior to English football hence no-one wanting to invest in Portuguese football and make the clubs rich. The reason why English clubs have so much money is because the standard of football is so much better over here, hence businessmen wanting to invest in our clubs which is why we have more money. Plus there is no corruption in English football- werent FC Porto docked points for paying off referees? Not the first time that has happened either.
What you dont seem to understand is that a club isnt just measured by how many trophies it has won (which Man City have a lot of in the past anyway!), its the strength of its support, name recognition and stadium as well. Man City were still getting crowds of 25,000-30,000 even when they were briefly in the old Division Two, thats a bigger average gate than most Portuguese clubs in your top division get! That to most true football fans is a big club.
Where did I compare the FA cup to the Champions League then? and stop using UCL for Champions League and EPL for the Premiership- no one calls it that outside of America and certainly true football fans dont use those terms. And no, the Cup Winners Cup was actually cancelled due to fixture congestion for clubs, there wasnt any lack of interest in the competition! Get your facts straight rather than just Googling everything.

Arsenal has, even though that, a bigger budget than FC Porto. Henry nearly paid all our team!!! Porto has a great budget for Portugal but compare to English teams, we're average. McCarthy went to Blackburn(!!!) due to wages, and he was one of the best paid in the team, for example.
Portuguese football is smaller, that's a no brainer, We lack the strutures, the people (we're only 10 millions) and financials. Our only advantage is the fact that we speak Portuguese so it's easier to bring brazilians players. There's been studies about the dimention of our League, that it should be like the Scotish League, less teams. The corruption is a bad thing but there's in Italy and the stadiums aren't exactly empty. The ratings of our football games are great but we lack the population to fill up the stadiums. The level of play in England was great, still is. But now is due to foreigners and fewer English players. Arsenal usually plays with one or none English player (And Almunia doesn't count), for example. The main stars this year were Cristiano Ronaldo, Drogba and Fernando Torres.
Cup Winners Cup was inesteresting!! That was the reality. I remember Cup Winners Cup finals and I didn't care much. It wasn't worth the efect. I even remember the final Final that Lazio won because Lazio had S??rgio Concei????o and Fernando Couto, 2 ex Porto players. I didn't need to google this. It was special because it was the last, Concei????o and Couto, otherwise i would care less. That's why I remember. And you can't google memories.
And even though do you still want to compare Chelsea back them and now?
You seen like Benfica fans here. They won 2 Champions Leagues in the 60's but still say that Benfica is a huge team in Europe. The last European final was in the early 90's. They've won 2 titles in 15 YEARS. They're a second tier team only because they've eliminated Liverpool and Manchester United, a few years back. They are the team in the world with more paying members - Did you know that - they bet Liverpool, Man Utd, Barcelona - it's in the Guinness Book of Records, but they're still were worst than Porto, Sporting and Vit. Guimar??es in the Portuguese League. Man City won things in the 70's/60's. so what? Nottingham Forrest won the Champions League in the 70's and I haven't heard of them for a while. History is good but it's not everything.
It's like the Porto victory in 1987 of the Champions League. I'm too young to remember - i was 3/4 year old. It's nice to know that it won that but it was way way way better to see the 2004 Champions League Final.
By the way, having great fans means nothing. Turkey's team have crazier fans filling the stadiums but they still aren't huge teams. Fenerbah??e passed to the 2nd phase once/twice. That's nothing. RESULTS COUNT MORE THAN ANYTHING!!! Any fan of Man City of the age of 28/29 years, the best they remember is a 9th place. NO TROPHIES!!!
A team that ascends to the Premier League recieves more money for ascending to the Premier League than what Porto will win by winning the Portuguese League.
You're "becoming" the NBA of football but english players are having a hard time keeping up with the pace. Just look to the English National Team.
By the way, it was the first time it happened that a team was docked points in Portugal due to Corruption.

And by the way, Guimaraes had a average of 20.000/25.000 last year at the Portuguese 2nd division, drawing a record attendance of 30.000 but they're still a 3rd/4th tier team. And Guimaraes only has 90.000 habitants.
