LSU recruit to play for UCLA

UCLA is "99%" of the way to replacing Kevin Love with another highly regarded center. That's the likelihood that J'Mison "Bobo" Morgan, a 6-foot-11 high school star from Dallas, will play for the Bruins next season, his mother, Bianca, said Tuesday. An official announcement, she added, could come as soon as today. Morgan was rated fourth among high school centers by Rivals.com after averaging 13.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks a game last season. He signed with Louisiana State in November, but that was before the Tigers fired John Brady as coach, replacing him with Stanford's Trent Johnson.

I've seen J'Mison Morgan play the past season. He needs a lot of work. He's very Bill 'Cartwrightish' awkward. If he puts the time in he can be decent.

Howland's finally got the athletes to roll all the way to that Championship banner.

If he was able to get to the Final Four with guys like Afflalo, Farmar, Mata and Aboya...Imagine what he can do with Holiday, Lee, Anderson, Gordon and Morgan!

Not to mention we still have Collison, Luc, Keefe and Shipp

That championship is coming...sooner or later

Morgan is a POS, so is his mother for making all those feebish stories up about Trent Johnson. Sucks losing a player of his caliber, but his character seems that of Ryan Perrilloux, and we certainly dont need any more of that.

Highly doubt Ben Howland would recruit the kid so heavily if he had serious character issues like you say LSU

Anyway, Johnson is a solid coach and class act. He should be able to do some very good things and get LSU back in the running soon enough.

Good luck

You just can't judge a 18 yr old's character based on whether or not he wants to play ball for your school. So far as we know, his family probably had a huge part in him coming to UCLA, note how everything has been announced by his mother or his brother. I'm glad he is coming, although his commitment issues is somewhat of a redflag, i don't think its anything cbh cant handle.

PhlyFan36....Yep. we're falling off the map with 2 championships in 5 years. What does Pilly have? Temple?

His mother has been bashing Johnson to the media with false accusations saying she called Johnson and could not get return phone calls, her son deserves this, her son deserves that, her son deserves to be given attention. Johnson called every recruit within his first few days of taking the job. It's not just because he is not coming here, he and his family really have character issues. Your problem, not ours.

You just reiterated my message above. Again, sux losing player of his quality, but he has character issues. could he just be immature? maybe so.

You also better watch that AAU coach of his........

disapointing.... Oh well we're a football & Baseball school who cares

The term "character issues" is WAY overused in the world of college sports. I personally don't feel any player should be labeled as having character issues unless they have an arrest record.

What I honestly think happened here is that Morgan was already having second thoughts about LSU before this opportunity to back out presented itself. That's not a character issue...it's just a change of heart. Since a coaching change is usually considered a good reason for a recruit to change commitments, Morgan seized the moment. I have a feeling his mom didn't want to say that they just wanted to go somewhere else to the press so she made up a BS reason. Stupid thing to say? Sure...but it's not exactly a red flag.

I suspect Morgan will do very well at UCLA and Johnson will do good things for LSU

Trent Johnson should in no way feel bad about losing Morgan to UCLA. Its better that Morgan state his intentions now rather than having not being able to put up 100%.

This transferring is in no way a reflection on Trent Johnson who is a classy person and should be successful at LSU. Wish both of them the very best

Trent Johnson is a fabulous coach and I personally hope he is the coach here for a VERY long time. Johnson has excellent credentials and the public perception of him is very high. I just thought it was very juvenile and classless to trash Johnson in the media which is what Morgan and his mother did.

We certainly dont want anyone here at LSU that doesnt want to be here, no doubt about it, Morgan could have just handled the situation MUCH better, and probably would have been zero hard feelings if his momma wouldnt have ran her mouth to the media.

Besides, Brady had 4 forwards in next years signing class. We needed to lose some of those forwards to get some guards.

Last I heard none of the underclassmen had signed with agents so you could - in theory - have a brutal team with twin towers up front, stud guards at the wings, and a creative SG/SF in the middle.

At least a few of them could come back. Besides, next year's draft looks weaker than this year's pool (at least on paper) so it'd be good economics too.

Go Bruins!

This would only be news if it was about football...... if Slick Rick ever, ever, steals someone out of Louisiana for FOOTBALL (like USC does) .... the self inflicted shot gun wounds from LSU fans will be a sight to behold.....
