Wilson on Thrashers coach list

Thrashers general manager Don Waddell has waited to hire a head coach, and the list of candidates just got an impressive addition. On Tuesday, San Jose fired head coach Ron Wilson following the Sharks second-round playoff loss to Dallas. Wilson has won more games than any other coach over the last four seasons, although his lack of success in the playoffs ultimately led to his dismissal. But a close relationship with Waddell, who despite his own uncertain future with the team has the authority to hire a coach, could mean Wilson is a leading candidate.

He couldn't win with a stacked team, so Atlanta wants to give him a chance to win with the shyte they have?

Why not? Obviously the Trashers do not have very high expectations. He's the perfect candidate.

All they need to do is hire JFJ as their GM and they'll be just like the Leafs! LOL

good one DC...but not really
they arent like the leafs cause they dont sell out no matter what...and its atlanta...even the leafs have a better organization than that...maybe not by much but they do

I echo go's comments. Who would want Wilson? Seriously? I wouldnt be surprised if the Leafs hired him to tell you the truth.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they hired him and then they fluked out a trip to the conference-finals or even the finals, a la Washington, Carolina, Anaheim, Calgary or Edmonton a few years back. The city starts to care about hockey for about 8-10 months until they miss the playoffs the next year, attendance falls and they suffer for stupid trades that gave away their youth and suffer through the next decade.

And that's the bright side. HA!

If Wilson can improve the Atlanta regular season thats about all the Thrashers can hope for. Obviously Wilson would not have to worry about winning any playoff game with that organization.
So...it works.

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all. For as worthless as Ron Wilson is, he seems to be really well-respected in the hockey world. That's what the Thrashers will be looking for- a big name. They tried it before with Bob Hartley, why wouldn't they try it now with Wilson?

i don't know whats worse, atlanta's uniforms or wilson's coaching ability, each year going in to these playoffs as a die hard wingsfan there's always been one team from a roster stand point that scares the h*ll out of me and it's the san jose sharks but for some reason year after year they just can't get over the hump and i couldn't ever figure out why, so needless to say i like everybody else blame wilson!

Great move for him. He got fired because he refused to **** in the bay area. He was upsetting the girly guys.
