Pedro takes big step toward return

Posted: Thursday May 15, 2008 07:43AM ET

Pedro Martinez took a significant step toward rejoining the Mets' rotation yesterday by throwing a 55-pitch simulated game in Port St. Lucie. Martinez threw all of his pitches without problem and even fielded a bunt, giving the Mets hope that the three-time Cy Young winner could be back in the majors at the end of this month or early June.

It's Not!

Pedro is too hurt and beyond his time physically. I guess they need to try to get something for the money. He might return but will be hurt quickly.

Don;t worry about us. Our pitching should pretty much take care of any chances of winning.

Too close for comfort? How about just straight up ahead and you can leave it to the Mets to make sure they don't come close to catching up.

That is true and Phillies pitching has obvious not been bad and only going to get better.

About Pedro, I hope he comes back soon. I'd love to see the Phillies hit the crap out him again. Always fun.

Last time the Phils faced him late last season. Are you a baseball fan?

Last time the Phils faced him last season he gave up 2 runs in 6 innings... hardly "smacking him around"

He gave up one run. The bullpen couldnt hold it. He struck out 9 Phils with his 74 mph fastball. So I'm still not clear on when he got smacked around by Philadelphia. Are you a baseball fan or pretend to be one?

PhilyDave,...I'm not saying Pedro is coming back like Sandy Koufax but if you're gonna rip on the guy, at least be accurate. Chucklehead.

Pedro ****, and Fannation has posted contraducting threads in less than a week...

Why should this be removed?

I say we bring in a chinese bookie and have him lay odds on how well Pedro does the rest of 2008.

Stand corrected... He gave up 7 hits and 1 run in 6 innings of work, not too bad. So I'll say I can't wait for him to get smacked around this season.

Yeah, jumped the gun a little on that one. Pedro did get smacked around it just wasn't Philly doing it. Are pitching hasn't been up to the level then are capable of achieving and yet their right up there. It's only a matter of time before they go on a run. It's not like their sitting at only 1 game above .500

Hey, the Braves are one game over .500 and they lost 10 games by one run. With their banged up staff they are not playing bad ball either. Don't count em out.
