Nets exploring trade for Carmelo
Posted: Thursday May 15, 2008 09:26AM ET
Thinking big, the Nets have had exploratory conversations with Denver about Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby, league sources said. GM Kiki Vandeweghe traded for Camby and drafted Anthony in Denver. Nothing is imminent. The Nuggets are not committed to moving Anthony yet. But after his recent legal troubles plus five straight first-round losses, they are listening to offers for their players.

don't bring this puss to NJ. He's an overrated wannabee tough guy. Or thug for lack of a better word.

Report Offensive CommentSince when did Denver become such a moral stomping ground? A Dui is not something to take lightly, but lots of NBA players have had this transgression.
Besides, I thought that Denver would trade Iverson before trading one of their big men. The big men are the ones that are keeping Denver competitive to start with.

Deng and Nicioni have more heart than the entire Denver organization. Carmelo plays no defense so his game is far from reliable.
Gordon + T. Thomas + Duhon + draft picks would be more than enough. If I were Chicago, I would go for Camby and forget Carmelo. But that won't happen.

Report Offensive CommentSwap melo with Carter...trade a puss for a loser. Same difference

Report Offensive CommentThe Nets have nothing to offer. An old Carter and RJ for Melo? Nope.

Report Offensive CommentThe Nets have plenty to offer - remember all those players they picked up for Jason Kidd? Why they'd want to bring in Melo is beyond me though. They need to build around all those young guys they got from Dallas, including Devin Harris.
C-Smith | 05/15/08, 10:25 AM
Report Offensive CommentJ. Hova's absolutely right. There's nothing the Nets have that would make a trade worth even exploring for Denver. Jefferson's fragile, Vinsanity's shelf life and reliability as a team player are miniscule. It doesn't make a lick of sense.

Excellent observation
Only thing with melo- is he did win in College- so I would give him a little more rope.....he is still very young.

Special Order Fridge | 05/15/08, 11:06 AM
Report Offensive Commentmelo is a year older than James and like one or two younger than Wade. probably the same age as Bosh and younger than Stoudamire.
All those players I've mentioned are NBA stars. Melo is a bum
Special Order Fridge | 05/15/08, 11:08 AM
Report Offensive CommentFor all those melo haters I am not a Nuggets fan but I do believe Melo has the potential to be a superstar you know he can score he needs a defensive coach more than anything. I think it would be a good trade and if the Nuggets do decide to open up trade talk I see alot of teams interested in Melo. Mavs Bulls Suns how would melo and nash workout????
CEL | 05/15/08, 11:20 AM
Report Offensive CommentMelo is a softy who just wants some trouble! He lacks discipline and when crunch time comes, he just fade!!He whinces like Carter so its a non-sense trade for both of them!

Report Offensive CommentRichard Jefferson is "old"?? He's 27. You guys are laughable.
And note this, the Nets have a very nice expiring contract or two if you don't want RJ. Keith Van Horn is still with the team and has a $3.75 million contract (with a small buyout) and Stromile Swift has a $6.2 million contract. There's also Maurice Ager, at $1.04 million. We will throw in some cash to pay the KVH buyout and a couple of picks, Save you guys a ton of money...and heartache.
NetIncome | 05/15/08, 11:29 AM
Report Offensive CommentYeah NetIncome, we could just give em to you. Anything to get those contracts off the books, right? Listen, you don't want Camby. Melo I could see a team wanting, but Marcus Camby is overrated in my opinion. He may block a lot of shots, but that doesn't make him a good defensive player. He pretends to be a perimeter player, but he's not fast enough to guard against the drive. I think Shaq could drive on him. There's no way he should have been all-defensive 1st team this year. Here's hopin Nene is better next year so that we can have someone that actually wants to play defense, and real defense.

Report Offensive CommentHe looked pretty solid on tem USA I just dont know je doesnt bring that type of intensity to Denver maybe tha Mavs could swing something and trade for Dirk Melo and kidd might be fun to watch
CEL | 05/15/08, 11:37 AM
Report Offensive CommentThe Bulls trade Gordon, Deng and Gooden yes but leave Noch out of it, Camby and Anthony arent really worth to much in my eyes and hnestly i wouldnt even trade for them. We denied a trade real similiar at begining of year for Kobe so theres no way we could pull this off and it be a good trade.
